A DJ in the Indian city of Ranchi, Jharkhand, was fatally shot early Monday (May 27) inside a bar after the employees refused to serve him alcohol, said the local police. The law enforcement personnel have since identified and arrested the alleged shooter.
The incident took place around 1:00 am (local time) on Monday when the alleged shooter and four others barged into Xtreme sports bar in the state capital Ranchi after it had closed, asking the staff members to serve them alcohol, said the police.
The deadly shooting was caught on CCTV where the alleged perpetrator can be seen with a rifle in his hand wearing shorts and had his face with his t-shirt.

The victim was immediately taken to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences where the doctors declared him dead. The victim was later identified as a man named Sandeep who was reportedly from the Indian state of West Bengal.

“On being refused, a heated argument ensued between them and the bar staff. During the argument, one of them brought in a rifle and shot at the DJ in his chest from point-blank range,” Chandan Sinha, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ranchi, speaking about the incident.
Ranchi Deputy Superintendent of Police and the local police station in charge had visited the scene of the crime on Monday morning to examine the CCTV footage and identify the shooter and his accomplices.
The police also questioned the bar employees as a part of the investigation. “Yesterday at around 10:30 pm (local time), a scuffle broke out between two groups. We immediately informed police and one person was arrested by police. After shutting the bar, we went back home but one of our staff, DJ Sandeep stayed here,” bar operator Vishal Singh told news agency ANI.

“Later I got a call that one of our staff had been shot… We hope that the accused will be arrested soon…,” said the bar operator.
DSP Pramod Mishra said that the suspected shooter has been identified. “He has a previous criminal record and has been to jail earlier as well. We are investigating the matter. He is a suspicious person. The deceased is a resident of Chapra (West Bengal).”
Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Kumar Sinha told news agency PTI that the accused was arrested from the Indian city of Gaya in Bihar.
“He will be brought to Ranchi and a detailed interrogation will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of the firing,” Sinha added.
Sinha also alsosaid that the accused,identified as Abhishek Singh, a resident of Ranchi,was in an alcoholic state when the crime was carried out.
