A seven-year-old boy's body was recovered from a suitcase hidden inside the house of the family's former tenant on Tuesday.

The boy, had reportedly, gone missing after being kidnapped from his parent's house more than a month ago.

The accused, who is a UPSC aspirant, has been arrested and allegedly stuffed the minor's body in a suitcase at his house in order to dispose off it later, but failed.

The deceased was kidnapped on January 7, from northwest Delhi's Swaroop Nagar.

His disappearance sparked search operations following which his family filed a missing complaint. 

Giving details, DCP northwest, Aslam Khan said following a probe the role of the accused and former tenant came under suspicion. 

The DCP said the family revealed that Sakya left the house after staying there for five years, following an altercation between him and Ashish's parents.

"Acting on this suspicion, police picked Sakya up during the early hours on Tuesday and following questioning he confessed to have smothered the child the same day he was kidnapped. He kidnapped the boy on January 7, killed him, after which he stuffed his body in a suitcase at his house in order to dispose off it later, but failed," the officer said.

Khan informed that Sakya was trusted by the family and the victim use to call him 'Bhaiya'
