India’s one of the most cherished industrialists and philanthropists, Ratan Tata, passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday night (Oct 9). The news of his demise left netizens heartbroken, as they flooded his last post on Instagram, calling it a “personal loss.”

Two days before his demise, the business tycoon posted on Instagram, “Thank you for thinking of me,” as rumours started to circulate about his condition being critical. Tata was admitted to a Mumbai hospital, according to reports.

In the Instagram post, he clarified to his well-wishers that he is “currently undergoing medical check-ups due to my age and related medical conditions.”

“There is no cause for concern. I remain in good spirits and request that the public and media respect refrain from spreading misinformation,” he wrote in his last Instagram post.

However, on the night of Wednesday (Oct 9), the chairman of Tata Sons N Chandrasekaran shared a statement confirming the industrialist’s demise, “It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation.”

Tata’s last post on Instagram has gained nearly two million likes with people expressing their grief for the business tycoon. Thousands of people expressed how Tata was an inspiration to them. He was known for his humbleness and compassion that has touched many.

“Truly feels like personal loss,” a user commented. Another user said, “I can’t process it.” A third person posted, “India has lost a ‘RATAN’ RIP Ratan Tata Sir.”
