Reasi Attack: Security forces launch massive manhunt to nab terrorists

Jammu and Kashmir Police along with Indian Army and Paramilitary forces have launched a massive manhunt to capture the terrorists involved in the Reasi attack. Security forces have formed 11 teams to investigate the case and carry out searches in the area. The Indian Army has also deployed choppers and drones all over the district of Reasi to look for the terrorists responsible for the attack.

Furthermore, the Reasi police have announced a reward of rupees 2 million ($23,934) for any fruitful information about the whereabouts of the terrorist involved in theattack. Asketch of the militant has alsobeen prepared on the disclosure and description of eyewitnesses.

The case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is being assisted by the State Investigation Agency of Jammu and Kashmir Police. The teams have collected all the evidence from the attack spot.

Questioning of some people in the area has been started as well. Half a dozen people were taken by the security forces for investigation. Security forces believe the attackers could be hiding in the forest area of the Reasi and a massive search operation is being carried out there as well.

Jammu region's Rajouri Poonch belt has become a hub of terrorists in the last few months. Most of the active terrorists in the whole Union Territory are foreigners belonging to Pakistan.

There have been multiple terror attacks in the region in recent times and most of them were carried out by foreign terrorists active in the area, the majority of them belonging to Lashkar e Taiba and Jaish e Muhammad terror groups.

Security forces have been on a hunt for these terrorists in the region although the topography plays a big hurdle as the whole belt is a dense forest and gives an edge to the terrorists to hide after these ambush attacks.

Jammu and Kashmir Police recently released three pictures of foreign terrorists active in the Rajouri Poonch belt.

All three terrorists are of Pakistan origin and are associated with Lashkar group.

The first terrorist is the top commander of Lashkar identified as Abu Hamza. The second terrorist, identified as Fauji, is said to be a former Pakistani Army Commando and the third terrorist is identified as Aadun,also a Pakistani active in the belt for the last year.

LG of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, who also heads the Unified Command, held a meeting today with regard to the security situation in the Union Territory.

The meeting was attended by the top officials of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, CRPF and BSF. The LG also stressed the security of the Upcoming Amarnath Yatra, which is starting on June 29.

According to the security forces, a multi-level security system has been planned for the Amarnath Yatra.

The Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, BSF, SSB and CRPF have made coordinated security arrangements.

Adequate security arrangements have been made on both the routes from Jammu to the holy cave.

According to sources, the central government has deployed 30,000 additional CRPF security personnel for multi-level security arrangements for Amarnath Yatra.

According to an estimate, about 60,000 security personnel will be deployed on both the routes from Jammu to the cave, Pahalgam and Baltal.

The latest technologies and equipment will be used to make the Yatra foolproof, journey safe and easy.

Technology has been upgraded, which also includes the use of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) cards.

All the pilgrims who come will be tagged. Which will know the position of the pilgrims, apart from this UAV, CCTV cameras will also be used.

The technology will play a key role in the three-tier security system in Amarnath Yatra security. Quadcopters, NVD, anti-drone teams, and bomb disposal squads are part of the security scenario.
