Rahul Gandhi has been elected president of the Indian National Congres.
He was elected unopposed.
Mullappally Ramachandran of the Congress said 89 nomination proposals were received, all of which were valid.
"Since there was only one candidate, I hereby declare Rahul Gandhi elected as the president of Indian National Congress," Ramachandran added.
Ramachandran added that Rahul would officially take over on December 16.
