Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje has written to Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani requesting her that the film "Padmavati" should not be released until some changes are made to it so that it "does not hurt the sentiments of any community".
In her letter, the Rajasthan chief minister has suggested that a committee should be formed to discuss the film and its plot and should suggest amendments.
The Central Board of Film Certification or the censor board must think of consequences before certifying "Padmavati", the chief minister writes in her letter.
The Rajasthan government had earlier this month suggested thata committee should be set up to examine the facts related to the film.
Fringe groups like the Rajput Karni Sena have opposed the film on the grounds that it distorts historical reality.
The objection is to an alleged dream sequence between Ranveer Singh's Alauddin Khilji and Deepika Padukone's Padmavati, an accusation that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has repeatedly denied.

Censor Board chairperson Prasoon Joshi on Saturday criticised the makers of "Padmavati" for pressurising the censor board to clear the film without completing the paperwork.
He said that the disclaimer whether the film was a work of fiction or historical had been left blank.
The Supreme Court has refused to stay the film and said that the Central Board of Film Certification or the censor board follows guidelines and considers all aspects before granting a certificate to any film.
