Mumbai hit-and-run case: CCTV shows Maharashtra politician’s son leaving pub before crash

Mihir Shah, an accused in a hit-and-run case in Mumbai's Worli, was seen leaving a pub with four of his friends in a Mercedes car before the incident occurred, according to media reports on Monday (July 8). Mihir, the 24-year-old son of Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) leader Rajesh Shah, is absconding after the BMWcar he was driving rammed a couple on a bike early Sunday, killing45-year-oldKaveri Nakhwa. Her husband survived the accident.
A report by India Today on Monday said that Mihir and his friends were partying at the Voice Global Tapas Bar in Juhu at around 11 pm local time on Saturday. The owner of the pub claimed that the 24-year-old and his friends were not drunk.
The group left in a Mercedes car after paying the bill at 1.40 am on Sunday.
Accused fled in auto-rickshaw
Mihir stepped out from the Mercedes car and was later driving his BMW car with his driverRajendra Singh Bidawatin the passenger seat. The 24-year-old rammed his car into the bike, killing Kaveri and injuring her husband.

The India Today report said that the BMW was found abandonedin Kala Nagar in the Bandra East area. Citing the police, the report added that Mihirleft his car in Bandra before fleeing in an auto-rickshaw.
Meanwhile, his driver alsotook an auto-rickshaw and came to Borivali after the accident.
Case registered against accused
A case was registered against Mihirunder various sections of the new criminal code, Bharatiya Nyaya Sahita.
On Sunday, his father and driver were taken into custody. Citing the police, the news agency ANI reported on Monday that Rajesh Shah had spoken to his son on the phone several times after the accident.
The police said that14 teams have been formed to nab the 24-year-old.
