Two Indian soldier died on Saturday (July 6) in an encounter between security forces and terrorists inJammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, officials said.
The DGP J&K RR Swain stated that a total of six terrorists have been neutralised in the ongoing encounters in Kulgam district. He also revealed that two soldiers were killed in the operation.
The confrontation unfolded after a joint operation launched by the CRPF, Indian Army, and local police after receiving intelligence about a terrorist presence in Modergam village.
The forces descended on the village in a rapid deployment, swiftly sealing it off to trap the militants. The initial gunfire left one soldier wounded.
The army soldier, injured during the encounter between the security forces and the terrorists,succumbed to woundsin the hospital.

In a separate incident, contact was made with terrorists in the Frisal Chinnigam area of Kulgam.
"Contact established at Frisal Chinnigam area in Kulgam district. Police and security forces are on job. Further details shall follow," said a post by the Kashmir Zone Police.
Terrorist attacks in J&K
Jammu and Kashmir has been grappling with an uptick in terrorist activity recently. Several encounters between security forces and militants have been reported across various districts. Last month alone, security forces successfully neutralised three terrorists in Doda's Gandoh area.
A terrorist attack was reported on June 12 whenagunman opened fire on the Special Operations Group (SOG) camp in Tantna Gandow of the Doda district.One security officer was injured in the attack.
On June 11, Doda and Kathua were struck by two separate terror attacks, resulting in the death of a CRPF jawan. Six security personnel also sustained injuries at the time.
On June 9, around 10pilgrims were killed after a bus carrying them from Shiv Khori cave shrine to Katra in Reasi district fell into a gorge after terrorists attacked the bus in Teryath village in the Pouni area.
