Kathputli Colony: Delhi High Court tells DDA to construct wall around colony

The Delhi Development Authority has been asked by the Delhi High Court today to construct a boundary wall around the Kathputli Colony.
The move is to ensure that no unauthorised occupancy and encroachment can happen over the vacant area. The court also noted that the Delhi Development Authority would be at liberty to demolish the remaining structures at the colony.
The DDA is yet to allot flats in Narela to relocate the eligible colony residents.
A bench of acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar noted the move to be essential to ensure safety and wellbeing of people.
Meanwhile, a court-appointed observer told the bench that 53 vacant units remain abandoned at the site.

The lawyers representing the NGO raised concerns about thefacilities at the transit camp. The bench has allowed the NGO and the residents of the colony to visit and inspect the camp.
The case will be heard on March 20.
