Janata Dal (Secular) party leader HD Revanna, who was arrested earlier this month in connection with a kidnapping case, was on Monday (May 13) granted conditional bail by a special court of people's representatives on a Rs 5 lakh bond.
He was taken into custody by Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials in Karnataka on May 4.
He along with his son are facing an investigation by the SIT over allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation.
The former minister was arrested from the Padmanabhanagar residence of his father, JD(S) chief and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda and brought to the SIT office.
The action was taken by the police on the basis of a complaint that was filed by the son of the woman who was allegedly "abducted and sexually abused".
The FIR alleged that the woman who worked as a housemaid at HD Revanna's home for six years was sexually abused by Revanna's son Prajwal, who is also the Lok Sabha candidate for BJP-JD(S) from the Hassan constituency, before returning to her village, was allegedly abducted.
The police officials had earlier rescued the abducted woman from a farmhouse that is said to be owned by an aide of Revanna. It was located at Kalenahalli village in Hunsur taluk of Mysuru district.

Blue Corner notice issued against Prajwal Revanna
Earlier, Karnataka Home Minister, G Parameshwara said that a Blue Corner notice was issued against Prajwal Revanna.
A blue notice permits Interpol to gather details regarding an individual's identity, whereabouts, or actions linked to a criminal inquiry.
Parameshwara also said that the state government is requesting Interpol's help in repatriating Prajwal Revanna, accused of serious sexual harassment.
Prajwal Revanna, who hails from the Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS) party, an ally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently in Germany. He went there on a diplomatic passport.
The chief minister’s office in the southern Indian state of Karnataka revealed Saturday (May 4) that CBI might take up the case, following an emergency meeting with senior police officers.
“We will proceed for the arrest with appropriate measures. There is a possibility of CBI issuing a Blue Corner Notice, which will speed up the investigation,” stated a release from CM Siddaramaiah’s office.
