Journalist shot dead in Tripura by jawan: Police

The journalist got into an argument with the jawan which led to the killing, a police officer said.
A journalist has been shot dead on Tuesday by a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) trooper during an altercation, police said.
"Tapan Debbarma, the bodyguard of the TSR’s Second Battalion Commandant, opened fire killing Sudip Datta Bhowmik on the spot,"a police officer said.
The incident occurred in Bodhjung Nagar, about seven kmfrom the state capital Agartala.
Sudip Datta Bhowmik, the journalist, was a reporter with the Syandan Patrikanewspaper and channel Vanguard.
News reports said he had goneto meet the commandant of the 2nd TSR, but he had an argument with one of the commandant's PSOs.

On September 20, Shantanu Bhaumik, a journalist with the news channel Din-Raat, was killed by a mob on the outskirts of Agartala while he had gone to cover a clash between the supporters of two parties.
