The Supreme Court on Thursday (September 05) is set to hear Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's bail pleas. These pleas challenge his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the now-scrapped excise policy case.
Kejriwal has filed two separate pleas, one challenging his arrest by CBI and another challenging the rejection of his bail application. On August 05, Delhi High Court's ruling upheld his arrest. In the last hearing, held on August 23, the Supreme Court gave the CBI a week to respond to one of Kejriwal's pleas.
On Tuesday (September 03), the Delhi High Court issued summons to Kejriwal and other individuals linked to the case after reviewing the CBI's fourth supplementary chargesheet in the excise policy case.
The court also extended Kejriwal's judicial custody until September 11, and Special Judge Kaveri Baweja directed all accused to appear in court on the date.

The CBI’s fourth chargesheet, filed on July 30, names multiple people, including Kejriwal, Satyendar Jain, Amit Arora, Vinod Chauhan, Ashish Mathur, and P Sarath Reddy.
According to the CBI, Kejriwal is “one of the main conspirators”allegedly having connections with the South group, which includes K Kavitha, Raghav Magunta, Arun Pillai, Butchibabu Gorantla, P Sarath Reddy, Abhishek Boinpally, and Benoy Babu.
Kejriwal was initially arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21, shortly after the Delhi High Court refused his request for interim protection.
Although the Supreme Court granted him interim bail on July 12 in the ED case, he remained in jail due to his arrest by the CBI on June 26.
The Delhi High Court, on August 5, ruled that his arrest was legitimate, adding that there was no ill intent in the CBI's actions.
The court also said that the CBI had proved how Kejriwal could potentially influence witnesses, who had only felt safe to testify following his arrest.
