Belgium footballer Kevin De Bruyne has said that he'll take a decision on his international career after the summer. The comments came after the Red Devils' 0-1 loss against France in Round of 16 match in ongoing Euro 2024.

"It's too early to answer," the 33-year-old reporters after the loss on Monday (Jul 1) when asked if the loss marks the end of his Belgium career.

"Let me process this loss. It's a been a very long season. I need to rest my body. I will make my decision after the summer," he added.

De Bruyne called the loss against France 'a pity.' Belgium conceded an own goal by Jan Vertonghen in the 85th minute of the game which handed them the defeat.

"We had a plan and we executed that plan pretty well. We knew that with France's qualities they would have more of the ball, but I think we defended well as a team and didn't concede many chances apart from a few long shots."

"We had our moments, although there weren't very many. But we could be dangerous. Our plan was good until their goal came, with the deflection, there is not a lot we can say about that. It's unfortunate, so we have to accept it," the footballer added.

De Bruyne made his debut for Belgium in 2010 and has played in over 100 international matches. The ace footballer has featured in three FIFA World Cups as well (2014, 2018 and 2022) and remains in plans of coach Domenico Tedesco for the 2026 edition.

Tedesco also spoke in the press conference after De Bruyne's comments on future and said: "He knows how important he is. He doesn't need my opinion about it because he knows. Immediately after the game, it's difficult to ask these kind of questions to Kevin."
