Netflix reportedly joined Paramount Skydance and Comcast, the owner of NBCUniversal, in a second round of an auction that was being negotiated throughout the Thanksgiving holiday. The parent company of HBO, CNN and the Warner Bros film studio officially put itself up for sale in October.

Streaming giant Netflix has made a mostly cash offer to buy TV and film group Warner Bros Discovery as the storied yet debt-laden Hollywood studio presses on with a sale that could remake the US media landscape, a report said Monday. According to Bloomberg, Netflix joined Paramount Skydance and Comcast, the owner of NBCUniversal, in a second round of an auction that was being negotiated throughout the US Thanksgiving holiday. The parent company of HBO, CNN and the Warner Bros film studio officially put itself up for sale in October after receiving multiple unsolicited offers, setting aside a planned split into two separate entities - one focused on streaming and studios, the other on traditional cable networks. Warner Bros Discovery was originally targeted by Paramount -- recently acquired by the billionaire tech family of Oracle founder Larry Ellison, one of the world's richest men. His son David Ellison, a movie producer, is the Paramount CEO and had made three consecutive offers for the entertainment group before Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav launched the official sale process. Netflix, the world's largest streaming service with over 280 million subscribers globally, is working on a bridge loan totaling tens of billions of dollars to finance its potential acquisition, according to sources cited by Bloomberg. The deal would bulk up Netflix's already considerable content production capabilities and secure premium assets like HBO and Warner Bros studios. It would also likely face close scrutiny by antitrust authorities in the United States and potentially in other major markets. Top Hollywood players have voiced their preference to see Warner Bros not end up in the hands of Netflix, citing concerns that the streaming company largely seeks to limit theatrical releases of its film productions. "Titanic" director James Cameron told podcast "The Town" recently that a takeover of Warner Bros by Netflix would be "a disaster." Requests for comment to Netflix and Warner Bros Discovery were not answered at time of publication.

It's large but not loud. As per celebrity jewellery expert Priyanshu Goel, who analysed the ring on his Instagram story, "The centre is a lozenge portrait-cut diamond of around 2 ct, and around it sit eight custom portrait-cut diamonds shaped like petals. It looks effortless on her hand, but the engineering behind it is extremely complex. Only a few workshops in the world cut and assemble portrait diamonds at this level."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/david-beckham-wishes-samantha-ruth-prabhu-as-she-marries-filmmaker-raj-nidimoru-1764664153347"><strong>David Beckham wishes Samantha Ruth Prabhu as she marries filmmaker Raj Nidimoru</strong></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Reportedly, portrait-cut diamonds have a regal lineage. They have roots in ancient India, and it is said that these smooth and crystal-clear slabs became popular under Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, who used them to protect miniature paintings.</p><h2>Does the ring have a Greek connection?</h2><p>As per reports, Samantha’s ring is linked to Athens-based jeweller Theodoros Savopoulos, who is known only to elite collectors, and fashion commentary handle Diet Sabya hinted that he is the designer. However, reports from A2Z state that Savopoulos creates limited one-of-a-kind pieces for a highly selective clientele only.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/samantha-ruth-prabhu-marries-raj-nidimoru-filmmaker-s-ex-wife-s-old-valentine-s-day-photo-goes-viral-1764660890586"><strong>Samantha Ruth Prabhu-Raj Nidimoru: Filmmaker's ex-wife's V-Day post goes viral</strong></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>While talking to India Today, Hafsa Qureshi-MISSHK Fine Jewellery said that the stones were custom-cut to fit the final design, which means diamond cutters had to shape each stone after reviewing the ring’s blueprint.</p><h2>What's the cost of the ring?</h2><p>As per Priyanshu Goel, the ring's value is approximately ₹1.5 crore. While some media reports claim its price is around ₹50 lakh. Nili added that they would be filing for an appeal. Nili said the charges against Panahi were engaging in "propaganda activities" against the state but did not elaborate. "Mr Panahi is outside Iran right now," he added. Panahi's Oscar bid Panahi, 65, won the Cannes Film Festival's top prize earlier this year for his film It Was Just an Accident, a film in which five ex-inmates contemplate whether to exact revenge on a man they believe to be their former jailer. Last month, he was on a tour of the United States visiting Los Angeles, New York and Telluride to promote his latest Oscar-hopeful movie. The film has been selected by France as its official nomination for the Academy Awards, and is widely expected to make the shortlist for the Best International Feature at the gala event in March. Panahi's win was reported by Iranian media which at the time hailed the award with a picture of him. More about Jafar Panahi One of the most celebrated directors in the world, Panahi has won a host of prizes at European film festivals and showcased his debut film "The White Balloon" in Cannes in 1995, which won an award for best first feature. But Panahi’s politics have often raised eyebrows in Iran and he has faced ban from working in the country. In 2010, Panahi was banned from making movies and from leaving the country after supporting mass anti-government protests a year earlier and making a series of films that critiqued the state of modern Iran. Convicted of "propaganda against the system", he was sentenced to six years in jail but served only two months behind bars before being released on bail. A year after being handed a 20-year ban on filmmaking he dispatched a documentary with the title "This is Not a Film" to the Cannes Festival on a flash drive stashed in a cake. His 2015 movie "Taxi" featured him acting as a taxi driver and was shot entirely in a car. In 2022, he was arrested in connection with protests by a group of filmmakers but was released nearly seven months later. Iranian filmmakers, prominent media figures and celebrities are closely monitored in Iran and their work reviewed for content deemed critical of the Islamic Republic. Last year, multi-award-winning director Mohammad Rasoulof fled Iran to escape a prison sentence on charges of "collusion against national security". (With AFP inputs)

They moved to the court in demand of an urgent stay on Dhurandhar's release, alleging the film takes an unauthorised inspiration from the Army officer’s life. Fans started to draw comparisons between Ranveer Singh's character, who is reportedly a covert Indian intelligence agent, and Late Major Mohit Sharma, an Ashoka Chakra (posthumous) and Sena Medal awardee. Major Sharma served with the Indian Army’s 1 Para (Special Forces), and was killed in action on March 21, 2009, in Kupwara, Jammu &amp; Kashmir.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/ott-release-this-month-december-2025-16-latest-movies-and-web-series-from-bollywood-to-hollywood-releasing-on-netflix-prime-video-zee5-and-other-1764565721019"><strong>OTT Release this month (December 2025): 16 latest movies and web series on OTT</strong></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>On November 28, his parents, Sushila Sharma and Rajendra Prasad Sharma, filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court alleging that the film commercialises Major Sharma’s life without family consent. They allegedly also raised national security concerns.</p><h2>Dhurandhar's makers deny connection</h2><p>Senior Advocate Saurabh Kirpal, who appeared for the producers, opposed the petition, saying it is "misconceived" and the film is "purely fictional." CBFC's legal team, led by CGSC Ashish Dixit, confirmed that during assessment, Dhurandhar was treated as a fiction and no material connecting it to Major Sharma had been brought to the board.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/mrunal-thakur-reacts-to-rumours-of-dating-dhanush-and-shreyas-iyer-they-talk-we-laugh-1764584806875"><strong>Mrunal Thakur reacts to rumours of dating Dhanush and Shreyas Iyer</strong></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Earlier, director Aditya Dhar had also clarified that the film takes inspiration from the genre of Indian covert operations but does not portray any real-life individual.</p><h2>About Dhurandhar</h2><p>The film is directed by Aditya Dhar and has already created a buzz for its action sequences and powerful characters. Alongside Ranveer Singh, it features Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Sara Arjun. Advance booking has already started, and the film is set to hit theatres on December 5, 2025.</p>

Delhi High Court has denied to grant a stay on the upcoming film Dhurandhar starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, and R Madhavan. The controversy began when fans started comparing the lead character of the film with the Late Major Mohit Sharma.

Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar has been making headlines since the announcement. The multi-starrer spy thriller had earlier landed into legal trouble, but now the film has been cleared to move forward with its scheduled release. About the legal battle Reportedly, the Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed the petition filed by Late Major Mohit Sharma's family. They moved to the court in demand of an urgent stay on Dhurandhar's release, alleging the film takes an unauthorised inspiration from the Army officer’s life. Though the court has not put a stay on it, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been directed to properly consider the objections presented by the family before issuing final certification.
