Speaking on the occasion, author Dr Durga Dube said, “The subject of cybersecurity involves many complex processes. Through this book, an attempt has been made to present these processes in simple and easy-to-understand language.” He expressed confidence that the book would help readers understand the myths surrounding cybersecurity and explore future challenges. He added that reading the book would foster a cybersecurity mindset across organisations and contribute to building a more trustworthy digital environment. Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO of the National Stock Exchange, said, “The military is deployed at the borders to protect the country's boundaries. Similarly, the police are ready to protect us within the country. However, today, this border is in everyone's hands in the form of a mobile phone. Mobile phones are one of the biggest cybersecurity challenges we all face today.” Chauhan added that India is undergoing one of the most remarkable digital transformations in the world. Notably, in June 2025, internet connections in the country crossed the 100-crore (1 billion) mark, making India a massive digital ecosystem. Every other person on social media seems to have transformed the global entertainment platform into a therapeutic zone, sharing tips and tricks on how to keep a relationship alive after months or even years together. What was once a hub for networking and exchanging thoughts among friends and family is now being transformed into a 60-second advice session.</p>

<p>Nowadays, people are increasingly doubting their instincts and relying on outside validation; they just need to seek validation of whether they are doing good or bad in their relationship. And where they spot a gesture considered a red flag in a short video clip, it just pounces back on them and their bond with another being. Social media is leaving little room for nuance, encouraging people to judge their partners through a checklist of internet-approved behaviours. As a result, personal experiences and individual senses of thinking are increasingly being overshadowed, and the opinions of strangers online are captivating much attention.</p><h2>Do love stories need to be labelled as green or red flags?</h2><p>Why are people today so eager to place their relationships under the lens of someone else's judgment? Why are people making Instagram the ultimate referee in matters of love and companionship? Reels are meant to be entertaining and showcase good deeds to other people, but they are now being treated as guidelines for building healthy relationships. It is often accompanied by a checklist of so-called green and red flags.</p>

<p>So, traits like Open and honest communication, respecting boundaries, emotional availability, Active listening and 100% transparency are considered Green flags, while Red flags are traits like taking hours to reply to messages, still connected with your ex on social media, refusing to post a partner online, not sharing passwords, not planning dates or surprises, avoiding long conversations, frequently cancelling plans, etc.</p>

<p>While social media has helped many people identify unhealthy relationship patterns and establish better boundaries, the real conflict begins when individuals start comparing their relationships to these online checklists and expect their partners to meet standards set by strangers on the internet.</p><h2>The comparison phase</h2><p>After discovering all these endless traits, many partners begin comparing their relationship to those they see online. It often gets triggered by a romantic surprise, an anniversary post, a lavish gift, or even a simple Instagram story. A missing goodnight message, calling a partner by their real name instead of a nickname, or not posting frequently about the one you love can be interpreted as signs of an unhealthy bond.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Many people increasingly turn to Instagram for relationship validation. And that is where unrealistic expectations begin to take shape. In a world where people are constantly juggling work, responsibilities, and personal struggles, making time for a partner is no longer enough. In the age of Instagram, if their efforts are not fitting the internet's idea of a green flag boyfriend or green flag girlfriend, it goes unnoticed.</p><h2>The burden of expectations</h2><p>With these, the burden within the relationship becomes heavy and creates a rift between them. Individuals begin questioning their own relationships, like, if the other couple on Instagram is living a healthy life together, why not mine? This gives rise to the pressure, the disappointments and unrealistic demands and takes root in people's minds.</p>

<h2>Beyond others' verdict</h2><p>Instead of measuring your own relationship against the others and internet-approved checklists, start believing and trusting your own experiences. Every relationship is unique; every relationship has pros and cons and is shaped by different personalities, circumstances, and expectations. The answer to having a healthy relationship is within yourselves, just start thinking of what works for one couple may not work for another, and that is how it will make it unique and pure.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Social media platforms have two sides, and it's up to the individual which side should be picked or which not. But, we have certainly not reached the state where they can become completely autonomous and completely perform surgery without any human intervention.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>"But we should realise that AI is a tool that has to be employed on a correct basis because there are umpteen examples where AI can cause hallucinations. AI can fictitiously bring out diagnoses and suggestions that are completely incorrect," he said.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</p><p>Shocking the audience, Naik revealed how AI created a disease that never existed. ‘’In the past, there was a case when AI created a new disease which never existed.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>‘’Somebody from one of the universities abroad deliberately planted a fake article into a scientific journal. It was a deliberate attempt. It was a disease called, I wonder if you know about it, it's quite famous amongst our community, a disease called 'Bixonimania'. The name itself is incredulous; there is no such disease whatsoever. An article was deliberately planted in the scientific press claiming that there was such a disease. Its symptoms were described and various details were written about it. <p>‘’There is a concept called Brain economy. If your population is mentally healthy, your GDP will increase exponentially. It is called the Brain economy. If one dollar is invested in one's mental health has a return of $11 in the productivity. So this is something that is happening globally.''<br>&nbsp;</p><p>Concluding the session, Dr. Dhamija shared the highlights of the discussion and said, "In India, health is not a right, but mental health is."</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Drawing attention to the scale of the problem, Dr Dhamija said that IHBAS, one of the country's largest mental health institutions, sees more than 3,000 patients daily. He stressed that stigma and low mental health literacy remain major barriers to treatment.</p><p><br>"People need to understand that there is a need for mental health intervention, but there is less demand for it. So we have to create that demand. We all understand there is a problem, but how many people come forward to seek professional help? So, that is where we are lagging behind, and where health literacy is, too. Where we can work on &nbsp;and conclave like this are very important for people to come forward and seek professional help.‘’ he said.&nbsp;</p>

Score of Indian households opt to not have children, just to pursue highfliying corporate jobs but many complain of loneliness and depression in later years silently.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>In the second session of WION Health Pulse, Dr. Rajinder K. Dhamija, Director and Professor of Neurology at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) and Dr. Jitendra Nagpal, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist and In Charge of the Institute of Mental Health &amp; Life Skills Promotion at Moolchand Medcity addressed the growing rate of mental health issues in urban India and the need to destigmatize conversation on mental health and reach out when help is needed.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>When Dr Nagpal was asked how the urban population is striving to achieve more and yet finding it difficult to strike a balance in life and mental well being, the expert stated that introspection is needed.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>“More and more the young population is asking us about the the difference between happiness and success? Aspiration will remain. But for what? Financial backup is important. But while we are skyrocketing into achievement-oriented life, the fallout has been simultaneously about the pandemic of loneliness,” said Dr Nagpal.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>“The fallout is that the rise in non-communicable disorders in urban India is also the highest,” rued the expert.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The pyschaitrist said that in India, families form the backbone for any individual. However, while we teach and motivate the young generation to achieve high goals, Dr Nagpal insisted that there is a need for introspection.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>“Are we preparing the future for just good jobs, not for life? We need to have answers to these questions.”&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Both Dr Dhamija and Dr Nagpal revealed that the government is taking active role in promoting more health centres that now also deal with mental health.&nbsp;</p>

When Dr Nagpal was asked how the urban population is striving to achieve more and yet finding it difficult to strike a balance in life and mental well being, the expert stated that introspection is needed. “More and more the young population is asking us about the the difference between happiness and success? Aspiration will remain. But for what? Financial backup is important. But while we are skyrocketing into achievement-oriented life, the fallout has been simultaneously about the pandemic of loneliness,” said Dr Nagpal. “The fallout is that the rise in non-communicable disorders in urban India is also the highest,” rued the expert. The pyschaitrist said that in India, families form the backbone for any individual. However, while we teach and motivate the young generation to achieve high goals, Dr Nagpal insisted that there is a need for introspection. “Are we preparing the future for just good jobs, not for life? We need to have answers to these questions.” Both Dr Dhamija and Dr Nagpal revealed that the government is taking active role in promoting more health centres that now also deal with mental health.

<p>He further highlighted how many families are still unaware of where to access mental health services and support systems, stressing that it remains widely misunderstood and often neglected, especially among the elderly.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>“There is a need to decentralise as well, which the government is doing splendidly. When combined with stress, dehydration, alcohol, or intense physical activity, the cardiovascular effects can become more pronounced and potentially dangerous."</p><h2>Silent factors that affect your health</h2><p>Cardiovascular degeneration doesn't happen overnight. "A bunch of everyday habits can slowly raise the chances of heart disease, even if nothing feels urgent at first," shares <i><strong>Dr. G Dimpu Edwin Jonathan, Consultant - Interventional Cardiologist, Aster RV Hospital,</strong></i> Bangalore. "One of the big ones is plain physical inactivity, like sitting for long hours at work, on the commute, or just being stuck with electronic devices. When movement drops, calorie burning drops too, and that can slide into obesity, higher blood pressure and even less favorable circulation.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Another major contributor is an unhealthy diet, especially meals packed with processed foods, sugary drinks, too much salt, and unhealthy fats. Restrictive diets may deprive the body of essential nutrients needed for proper heart and blood vessel function. They can also cause fluctuations in blood sugar levels, electrolyte imbalances, fatigue, and changes in heart rhythm. Rather than pursuing quick weight-loss methods, people should focus on balanced, sustainable eating habits that support long-term cardiovascular health."</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

Adequate sleep is necessary

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Adding to this issue, "A lot of eating habits get underestimated, even though they’re clearly tied to heart disease," Dr Jonathan adds. "One of the most common ones is drinking sugary stuff all the time, think about soft drinks, sweetened teas, and energy drinks. These kinds of drinks can push weight up, cause insulin resistance, and also feed inflammation. Another thing people barely notice is eating really big portions, even when what’s on the plate looks 'healthy.' Regularly going past what your body needs can turn into too many calories, and then obesity. Also, many folks don’t really appreciate how much high sodium intake matters. Getting checked early and acting in time can reduce the risk of serious complications, and it can also make a meaningful difference for long term heart health," he adds.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Beyond recognizing sudden changes, proactive diagnostic evaluations are critical for catching asymptomatic biomarkers, such as borderline hypertension or elevated low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Dr Mandal emphasizes the need for regular screenings, saying, "Even healthy adults should still do periodic checkups, because a lot of cardiovascular risk factors quietly grow in the background. Adults in their 20s and 30s should get their blood pressure measured at least once every one to two years. Also, eating in a balanced way matters a lot: think fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats, while cutting back on processed foods, too much salt, and added sugar."</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

For many people, one of the best moves is just regular physical activity, it sounds simple but it helps a lot. Exercise can cut down stress hormones, boost your mood, and it also gives your cardiovascular system a stronger foundation."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Another part is mindfulness practices, which can mean meditation, deep breathing exercises, or relaxation routines. These can reduce anxiety and support emotional steadiness, even if life is kind of messy.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>"And don’t ignore sleep either, keeping a healthy sleep schedule matters because adequate rest helps the body repair itself from everyday stress, day after day. Also, social ties are a big deal. Strong connections can give emotional backing and lower the sense of being alone, which sometimes feels like it adds fuel to stress. <p>Actress Sandhya Mridul recently shared an experience involving her mother's house help, calling out "the ridiculously sh***y behaviour" of some people with money who feel entitled to ill-treat the economically weaker people. In a video she posted on social media, she told people how salons refused to cut the hair of a young girl who is a domestic help in her 20s working at her place. "My mom took her help, our little girl, to a salon, and they refused to cut her hair. What time are we living in?" she said. She then took her to another salon, which also refused to cut her hair," she said. "My mother fought in second place, and my mother is a very gentle person. She pleaded with them, even offered to pay more because she was feeling bad, our girl was feeling bad. But they just refused," Mridul added.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>"Then one condescended to giving her a haircut. Maa took her out for lunch. She was sad. I can't imagine the feeling." She wrote, “Every person deserves dignity, respect and kindness. <p>&nbsp;</p><h2>Psychology behind the feeling of entitlement and treating people disrespectfully</h2><p><br>The psychology behind such behaviour boils down to "narcissism" and "a sense of superiority". When people reach a certain level in society, they tend to believe that everyone should stick to a social hierarchy where some deserve more dignity than others, Dr Bhattacharya said. Narcissistic traits encourage a sense of superiority and reduce empathy. Such people put themselves in a higher position than others and start believing that preferential treatment is no longer a privilege but a right. This happens after tears of being served without accountability, Dr Bhattacharya said. "Behavioural psychologists call this learned entitlement." In many cases, “people are not consciously cruel; they have simply normalised inequality to the extent that they fail to recognise another person's emotional experience.”</p><h2><strong>In this type of entitlement an Indian thing?</strong></h2><p><br>Dr Bhattacharya says, "This is not an Indian phenomenon, and the same happens in other countries as well," but adds, "cultures differ in how strongly they challenge such behaviour." In countries where dignity of labour is deeply valued, and service roles are respected, public disapproval acts as a psychological corrective."</p><h2><strong>How can this behaviour be changed?</strong></h2><p><br>To change this system, social modelling needs to start early. "Children learn respect not from moral lectures but by watching how adults speak to drivers, domestic staff, security guards and waiters," she says. At a larger level, families and schools must reinforce that every human being deserves dignity regardless of occupation. Organisations should cultivate cultures where respect is non-negotiable and discriminatory behaviour has consequences. On an individual level, practising gratitude and perspective-taking strengthens empathy.</p>

Actress Sandhya Mridul recently shared an experience involving her mother's house help, calling out "the ridiculously sh***y behaviour" of some people with money who feel entitled to ill-treat the economically weaker people. In a video she posted on social media, she told people how salons refused to cut the hair of a young girl who is a domestic help in her 20s working at her place. "My mom took her help, our little girl, to a salon, and they refused to cut her hair. What time are we living in?" she said. She then took her to another salon, which also refused to cut her hair," she said. "My mother fought in second place, and my mother is a very gentle person. She pleaded with them, even offered to pay more because she was feeling bad, our girl was feeling bad. But they just refused," Mridul added. "Then one condescended to giving her a haircut. Maa took her out for lunch. She was sad. I can't imagine the feeling." She wrote, “Every person deserves dignity, respect and kindness. Not because of what they do for us, but because they are also human.” She blamed the "entitled" people for such behaviour, who demand that services and entrances be refused to house help and others who are not as well-off. Sandhya says, "It is time for these sh***y people" to change. "What day and age are we living in that we are behaving like this? Who do you think you are, what entitles you to behave in this way?"
