<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Smriti reflected on the emotional cost of parenting and said, "So when you ask all of them about their memory of it - they would have absolutely nothing. There will come a time when they are 50-55 years old and their kids would have gone off to live their lives and that is when you start reflecting. When the joints pain and you can't explain to anybody else, when you're at that kid, who now doesn't have time to call you back. So that's what feel like to be a mom. It is a job which is well done only when the kid doesn't need you anymore and that is the most heartbreaking thing. You spend half your life so that you will be forgotten in the other half. Can you compute an economic value to that?"</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h2>Internet reacts</h2><p>Smiriti heartfelt take on the bittersweet reality of motherhood resonated with many parents on social media. <p>Parenthood no longer follows the "biological clock" as it once did. For many couples today, having a child in their late 30s or even early 40s has become a conscious decision. Career ambitions, financial planning and the desire to be emotionally prepared are encouraging more people to delay starting a family.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Modern medicine has also given couples more confidence that pregnancy is possible later in life. However, doctors say age still plays an important role in fertility and pregnancy. Understanding what changes with time can help couples make informed decisions about parenthood. So, WION reached out to experts to decode the facts around late pregnancy.&nbsp;</p><h2>Why more people are delaying parenthood</h2><p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to Dr Radhika Gera, Clinical Psychologist at Rainbow Children's Hospital, Sarjapur Road, delayed parenthood is largely due to changing life priorities.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/lifestyle/why-every-daughter-should-know-about-her-mother-s-menopause-journey-1785844411017"><strong>Why every daughter should know about her mother's menopause journey</strong></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>"More people these days are leaning toward becoming parents later in life, not just because of one thing, but because social rhythms and educational as well as work priorities shift. A lot of people spend their twenties and early thirties pushing their careers along, trying to land solid financial footing, or going for more schooling before they even think about a family."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>She further adds that many couples also wait until they feel emotionally ready or have found the right partner. Improvements in fertility treatments and assisted reproductive technologies have further reassured people that pregnancy may still be possible at an older age. However, she stresses that fertility naturally declines over time.</p><h2>When is a pregnancy considered advanced maternal age?</h2><p>Dr Ruchi Shrivastava, Director, Obstetrics &amp; Gynaecology at ShardaCare-Healthcity, explains, "A pregnancy is medically considered advanced maternal age (AMA) when the woman is 35 years or older at the expected time of delivery. This classification is based on evidence showing that fertility naturally declines after the mid-30s, while the likelihood of pregnancy-related complications gradually increases."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>She notes that women over 35 may face a higher risk of gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, miscarriage, chromosomal abnormalities and caesarean delivery. However, she emphasises that advanced maternal age does not mean a healthy pregnancy is impossible.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>"With preconception counselling, regular antenatal care, timely screening, and a healthy lifestyle, many women have safe pregnancies and healthy babies," she says.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/lifestyle/could-your-period-pain-be-endometriosis-experts-explain-the-warning-signs-1784726154451"><strong>Could your period pain be endometriosis? Experts explain the warning signs</strong></a></p><h2>How fertility changes with age</h2><p>One of the biggest concerns with delayed pregnancy is the natural decline in fertility. Nowadays, more couples are choosing pregnancy later in life due to career goals and changing social priorities. Experts say understanding fertility and planning ahead can make a lot of difference.

Parenthood no longer follows the "biological clock" as it once did. For many couples today, having a child in their late 30s or even early 40s has become a conscious decision. Career ambitions, financial planning and the desire to be emotionally prepared are encouraging more people to delay starting a family. Modern medicine has also given couples more confidence that pregnancy is possible later in life. However, doctors say age still plays an important role in fertility and pregnancy. Understanding what changes with time can help couples make informed decisions about parenthood. So, WION reached out to experts to decode the facts around late pregnancy. Why more people are delaying parenthood According to Dr Radhika Gera, Clinical Psychologist at Rainbow Children's Hospital, Sarjapur Road, delayed parenthood is largely due to changing life priorities. Also Read: Why every daughter should know about her mother's menopause journey "More people these days are leaning toward becoming parents later in life, not just because of one thing, but because social rhythms and educational as well as work priorities shift. A lot of people spend their twenties and early thirties pushing their careers along, trying to land solid financial footing, or going for more schooling before they even think about a family." She further adds that many couples also wait until they feel emotionally ready or have found the right partner. Improvements in fertility treatments and assisted reproductive technologies have further reassured people that pregnancy may still be possible at an older age. However, she stresses that fertility naturally declines over time. When is a pregnancy considered advanced maternal age? Dr Ruchi Shrivastava, Director, Obstetrics & Gynaecology at ShardaCare-Healthcity, explains, "A pregnancy is medically considered advanced maternal age (AMA) when the woman is 35 years or older at the expected time of delivery. This classification is based on evidence showing that fertility naturally declines after the mid-30s, while the likelihood of pregnancy-related complications gradually increases." She notes that women over 35 may face a higher risk of gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, miscarriage, chromosomal abnormalities and caesarean delivery. However, she emphasises that advanced maternal age does not mean a healthy pregnancy is impossible. "With preconception counselling, regular antenatal care, timely screening, and a healthy lifestyle, many women have safe pregnancies and healthy babies," she says. AI to all-night rehearsals: Wedding experts reveal how celebrity weddings come to life

<p>The 2027 Met Gala is almost a year away and is already grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons. Not for its guest list or the red carpet, but for its theme. Anna Wintour and the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute have reportedly announced that next year's exhibition, "John Galliano: Horizons", will celebrate the influential British designer's career. However, the decision has reignited debate over Galliano's past controversy. Let's delve in to know more in detail.</p><h2>Why is the 2027 Met Gala theme facing backlash?</h2><p>The announcement of the 2027 Met Gala theme was revealed by the New York Times after the Met had held meetings with influential rabbis and Jewish leaders of New York City over the past year to discuss potential issues with a dedication to the designers' work. John Galliano, on whom the theme is based, was the head designer of Dior from 1996 to 2011.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>However, he went viral after being caught on camera making anti-semitic comments, leading to him losing his job at Dior. During the incidents in question, Galliano berated a French couple outside La Perle bar in Paris’s Marais district, repeatedly insulting them with lines including “f***ing ugly Jewish b****” and “I love Hitler” while intoxicated. As a result of the remarks, he was ordered to pay just under $10,000 in fines and was fired from his role as creative director at the prolific fashion house. Galliano later apologised for the incident before taking a hiatus from the fashion world and seeking rehabilitation for drug and alcohol addiction.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read: </strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/lifestyle/royal-family-outing-kate-middleton-and-prince-william-make-rare-appearance-with-all-three-children-at-commonwealth-games-1785651762360"><strong>Wales family makes rare public appearance at Commonwealth Games</strong></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Anna Wintour was later instrumental in orchestrating Galliano’s return to fashion in 2014 as Maison Margiela’s creative designer and was one of the first people to wear one of his dresses publicly post-incident.</p><h2>Details of the 2027 Met Gala theme</h2><p>John Galliano: Horizons will be on display at The Met from May 9, 2027 until January 9, 2028, and will be a career-spanning look at a figure largely regarded by the fashion industry as one of the most influential designers of the last number of decades. The Met Gala 2027 theme based on John Galliano's designs has sparked backlash, because of his past controversy. Read more to know the controversy explained.

The 2027 Met Gala is almost a year away and is already grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons. Let's delve in to know more in detail. Why is the 2027 Met Gala theme facing backlash? The announcement of the 2027 Met Gala theme was revealed by the New York Times after the Met had held meetings with influential rabbis and Jewish leaders of New York City over the past year to discuss potential issues with a dedication to the designers' work. John Galliano, on whom the theme is based, was the head designer of Dior from 1996 to 2011. However, he went viral after being caught on camera making anti-semitic comments, leading to him losing his job at Dior. Galliano later apologised for the incident before taking a hiatus from the fashion world and seeking rehabilitation for drug and alcohol addiction. Details of the 2027 Met Gala theme John Galliano: Horizons will be on display at The Met from May 9, 2027 until January 9, 2028, and will be a career-spanning look at a figure largely regarded by the fashion industry as one of the most influential designers of the last number of decades. The exhibition will be kicked off by the annual Met Gala on 3 May, where the A-list attendees will be sure to pay homage to Galliano's work. Netizens' reaction to the 2027 Met Gala theme Soon after the reported announcement, many took to social media platforms to express their views. One user wrote, "Inviting trouble to the MET!? The next Met Gala Fashion exhibit is devoted to John Galliano. But why? The British designer was creative director at Christian Dior for nearly 15 years until he made a series of viral anti-semitic and racist comments in 2010 and 2011. He was tried and convicted!!! in an antisemitism trial." Also Read: How South Seas Distilleries is shaping India's premium spirits market

<p>Every Rath Yatra, millions of devotees celebrate Lord Jagannatha's grand journey from Jagannath Temple, Puri, Odisha (a south-eastern state in India), to the Gundicha Temple. While the festival is known for its towering chariots and centuries-old rituals, it also brings renewed interest in the lesser-known chapters of Jagannath's history. One such forgotten story is that of Kankana Shikhari, a sacred refuge where the deities were believed to have been protected and worshipped during times of invasion, preserving one of Hinduism's most revered traditions through periods of crisis.&nbsp;</p><h2>What is Kankana Shikhari?</h2><p>Kankana Shikhari is remembered in Jagannath tradition as a sacred refuge where Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were temporarily shifted during periods when the Puri Jagannath Temple faced attacks or political unrest. Rather than allowing the deities to fall into the hands of invaders, temple servitors secretly moved them to safer locations so that daily rituals and worship could continue uninterrupted.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Kankana Shikhari is not just a place of worship, it is a symbol of faith, heritage, and the deep-rooted culture of Odisha. Over the centuries, this temple has been a spiritual anchor for the community, offering peace, blessings, and connection to the divine.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Although Kankana Shikhari is not as widely known as the Gundicha Temple or the main Jagannath Temple, it occupies an important place in Odisha's religious history. Kankana Shikhari is a sacred islet and temple in Odisha, located near Nairi village on the banks of Chilika Lake.</p><h2>Significance and history behind Kankana Shikhari</h2><p>Reportedly, as per history, it states that between the 13th and 18th centuries, the Puri Srimandir (Temple) was attacked multiple times, prompting priests to relocate the sacred deities to ensure their safety. In 1731, during a devastating attack led by the Mughal Subedar Taqi Khan, the servitors secretly transferred the Chaturdha Murtis (the four deities) via boats to Kankana Shikhari.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The deities were hidden on the island for over four months, turning the remote site into a temporary, clandestine Srikhetra (holy abode). Several reports state that servitors had to fetch fresh drinking water from the nearby Jamuna Nirjhara spring, as Chilika's waters were brackish. The local populace harvested kankada (a type of spiny gourd) to offer as prasad to the deities, which locals and chronicles say inspired the name "Kankana Shikhari".</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>To preserve this historic chapter, Kankana Shikhari is celebrated for hosting a rare, centuries-old floating Rath Yatra. Because they lacked massive wooden chariots during their exile, the priests historically utilised interconnected boats to move the deities. Today, this tradition lives on, with the Holy Trinity placed on specialised chariots built over joined boats.</p>

Kankana Shikhari is a lesser-known yet significant chapter in the history of Lord Jagannath. As Rath Yatra shines a spotlight on Lord Jagannath's rich traditions every year, let's delve in to know the sacred tradition that has been kept alive through generations.

One such forgotten story is that of Kankana Shikhari, a sacred refuge where the deities were believed to have been protected and worshipped during times of invasion, preserving one of Hinduism's most revered traditions through periods of crisis. What is Kankana Shikhari? Kankana Shikhari is remembered in Jagannath tradition as a sacred refuge where Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were temporarily shifted during periods when the Puri Jagannath Temple faced attacks or political unrest. Rather than allowing the deities to fall into the hands of invaders, temple servitors secretly moved them to safer locations so that daily rituals and worship could continue uninterrupted. Kankana Shikhari is not just a place of worship, it is a symbol of faith, heritage, and the deep-rooted culture of Odisha. Over the centuries, this temple has been a spiritual anchor for the community, offering peace, blessings, and connection to the divine. Although Kankana Shikhari is not as widely known as the Gundicha Temple or the main Jagannath Temple, it occupies an important place in Odisha's religious history. Kankana Shikhari is a sacred islet and temple in Odisha, located near Nairi village on the banks of Chilika Lake. Significance and history behind Kankana Shikhari Reportedly, as per history, it states that between the 13th and 18th centuries, the Puri Srimandir (Temple) was attacked multiple times, prompting priests to relocate the sacred deities to ensure their safety. In 1731, during a devastating attack led by the Mughal Subedar Taqi Khan, the servitors secretly transferred the Chaturdha Murtis (the four deities) via boats to Kankana Shikhari. The deities were hidden on the island for over four months, turning the remote site into a temporary, clandestine Srikhetra (holy abode). Several reports state that servitors had to fetch fresh drinking water from the nearby Jamuna Nirjhara spring, as Chilika's waters were brackish. The local populace harvested kankada (a type of spiny gourd) to offer as prasad to the deities, which locals and chronicles say inspired the name "Kankana Shikhari". To preserve this historic chapter, Kankana Shikhari is celebrated for hosting a rare, centuries-old floating Rath Yatra. Because they lacked massive wooden chariots during their exile, the priests historically utilised interconnected boats to move the deities. Today, this tradition lives on, with the Holy Trinity placed on specialised chariots built over joined boats.

<p>Kankana Shikhari is a lesser-known yet significant chapter in the history of Lord Jagannath. As Rath Yatra shines a spotlight on Lord Jagannath's rich traditions every year, let's delve in to know the sacred tradition that has been kept alive through generations.</p>

<p>‘’She taught me everything that truly matters… to love your family fiercely, to be kind, to show up for the people you love, and to never take a single moment together for granted. She taught us that family is everything. She showed us how to love unconditionally and how to find joy in the little moments. She showed me how to face life’s challenges with resilience and faith. Mom, thank you for every sacrifice you made, every piece of wisdom you shared, and every moment you loved us so completely. I will miss our daily talks, your smile, your laughter… Our hearts are broken.'' Jenner wrote.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Over the years, Shannon made several appearances on the Kardashian-Jenner reality TV show. Despite her age, she remained a crucial part of the show and was often part of the conversation, too. &nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h3>Kim Kardashian pays tribute, says 'You are the best of us.'</h3><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Soon after Kris announced the death of her mom, Kim penned down an emotional note with a bunch of throwback photos. Calling her grandma, the woman, who taught her, what meant to be a hardworking businesswoman, she wrote,''You gave me my very first job at your store in San Diego and taught me lessons about work ethic, strength, and confidence that I’ve carried with me ever since. You always believed in me, championed me, and were my safe place. You truly were the matriarch of our family, and your love is woven into all of us. I know you’re at peace now. Give Papa Harry, Aunt Karen, and my dad a hug for me. You will always be a part of me, I love you soooooo much and I will miss you forever and ever. 🤍 YOU ARE THE BEST OF US!!!''</p>

<p>One of the world-renowned festivals, originating from Puri, a coastal city situated in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, the Jagannath Rath Yatra begins today, marking the start of a grand nine-day chariot festival. Millions of devotees gather to pull the giant wooden chariots of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra as they journey to their aunt's home, the Gundicha temple. But did you know a legend says the Rath Yatra in Puri used to have six chariots instead of three in ancient times? Let's delve in to know more.</p><h2>What is the legend behind the six chariots during Rath Yatra in Puri?</h2><p>A legend states that a river named Malini used to flow across the grand road (Bada Danda road, Puri), a 3.5 km stretch through which the chariots are to be pulled, as per several reports.
