There is a new sexual identity several people have been identifying with -abrosexual. The term has been doing the rounds on social media and a lot of people have embraced it. An abrosexual is a person whose sexuality changes over time. Such a person might feel attracted to one gender at one point in their life, and to another at a different time. The levels of sexual attraction also vary.
These people can go from being heterosexual to homosexual, and even bisexual and asexual. They might identify as "gay" at one time, and then be attracted to all other genders. The sexuality can fluctuate within a matter of hours or years.
People on social media say that experiencing such varying levels of sexuality had them confused, but the term has given new meaning to their lives.
Emma Flint, one such person, wrote in a Metro essay, “It was only when I was reading the Instagram page of Zoe Stoller, a US-based creator, educator and social worker, who seeks to improve the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community, that I saw the term abrosexuality for the first time."
“You know in cartoons when a lightbulb appears above their heads? That’s how it felt when I read their post. Finally, I feel seen.”
Emma said that other people doubted her sexuality because she went from being a lesbian on one day to a bisexual on another. However, having a term to describe her sexuality has filled her with confidence.

Abrosexuality is similar to gender-fluidity, the only difference being that it refers to one's sexuality being fluid. Queer sex scholar Nadège told Cosmopolitan, "There is no overarching clue, personality trait, or physical aesthetic that signifies a person’s sexuality, and this is just as true for abrosexuality as it is for any other sexual orientation or gender."
Abrosexuality also does not depend on how long a person remains attracted, or doesn't, to one gender.
However, it should not be confused with pansexuality and polysexuality. A pansexual is sexually attracted to people of all genders and is not affected by their sex or gender identity. A polysexual person is attracted to many, but not necessarily all genders.
TikToker lucaismagic recently announced that they identified as an abrosexual. “It’s not talked about very much, but it’s very very valid," they said.
The video helped many more people to learn about its existence who were relieved to know about it. “OML THERE’S A NAME???? I HAVE BEEN FEELING THIS WAY FOR SO LONG?????” one of the users said.
