Taylor Swift is everywhere. The pop star is back on number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 with “Cruel Summer”. The 2019 song is on the number 1 spot after it released four years and two months ago. The track is from her hit Lover album.
The song and the album perched itself on number 1 position in early July. It started picking up on streaming charts earlier this year as “song of the summer” hailed by many on the internet. The song picked up after it featured on her blockbuster hit film The Eras Tour. Streaming for her entire catalogue rose substantially in the week following the film’s release.
Taylor cashed in on this instant popularity as on October 18 she announced that there will be two new versions of the song: a live recording excerpted from the new movie, “Cruel Summer (Live from Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour),” and a remix, “Cruel Summer (LP Giobbi Remix).” They were bundled together as an EP titled “The Cruelest Summer.”

Billboard reports that the amount of time “Cruel Summer” took to get on top of the chart is the fifth-longest wait in the history of the Hot 100.
