Kelly Rowland recently opened up about the red carpet fiasco which involved her getting upset and snapping at a Cannes red carpet usher. The singer said that she stood her ground by scolding an usher on the red carpet because of the discrimination she faced.

At the amfAR gala, days later after the red carpet drama, Destiny’s Child alum opened up about the clash and why she lost her cool at a security guard who was trying to usher her inside the venue and stopped her from interacting with her fans and the paparazzi. Kelly Rowland attended the premiere of Marcello Mio at Cannes.

Speaking about the clash, Kelly said, “The woman knows what happened. I know what happened. I have a boundary and I stand by those boundaries and that is it. And there were other women that attended that carpet who did not quite look like me and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off. I stood my ground and she felt like she had to stand hers. But I stood my ground.”

A video of Kelly Rowland pointing her fingers at a female usher became a topic of discussion on the day of the incident. Kelly was posing and smiling at the red carpet when she was asked to move ahead and walk the stairs. As Kelly continued to interact, in the video, we saw several ushers encircle the singer and urge her to move ahead. Kelly is then seen telling off one usher for blocking her view and driving her up the stairs.

Cannes has strict red carpet policies

Notably, the Cannes Film Festival is known for its strict red carpet-policies. It does not allow attendees walking the red carpet to take selfies or use their cameras. Ushers often hurry guests into the theatre and don’t allow them to linger on the carpet.
