The wait is finally over! The release date of Kamal Haasan's most-awaited movie Indian2 has been unveiled. The second instalment of Haasan's superhit movie will hit the theatres in June this year.

On Saturday (April 6), the veteran actor shared the release date of his new movie along with a new poster. The exact release date of the movie has not been revealed yet.

Directed by S Shankar, the new poster of the movie showed Kamal as Veerasekaran Senapathy and the actor looks unrecognisable as an aged man.

Written by S Shankar, the upcoming film is a sequel to the 1996 film Indian. Haasan is reprising his role as Senapathy, an ex-freedom fighter-turned-vigilante, whose fight is against the corruption in the country.

Apart from Haasan, the movie stars Siddharth, the late Malayalam veteran Nedumudi Venu, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Guru Somasundaram and others. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music.

The first teaser of the movie was released in November last year. Titled Indian 2: An Intro, the short clip showed that Senapathy is back as corruption is at an all-time high in India.

In March, Haasan gave a major update on Indian 2 and 3. Speaking with the The Hindu, the actor-filmmaker, said, “I can’t make up for the lost time. Also, we cannot speed up production as the quantity doesn’t matter, quality does. We have completed Indian 2 and Indian 3. The post-production work of Indian 2 is currently happening. We will start work on Indian 3 post-production after we finish it.”

On the work front, Haasanwas last seen in the 2022 film Vikram. The movie was a blockbuster hit. The other projects that he has in the pipeline are Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life andNag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898AD.
