The internet is full of weird food combination videos and Benny Blanco wants Selena Gomez to expand her culinary horizon and try the viral “watermelon pickle sandwich” with him. On Friday, the couple took to social media to share their first reactions to the weird and viral food combo.
The clip begins with Blanco slicing a watermelon into two bread-like wedges. He then assembles the sandwich with cheese, a pickle slice, balsamic vinegar, and basil. “All right, so then I guess it’s just like a sandwich,” he said to the camera, admitting that it “looks f***ing disgusting.”
After taking a hesitant bite, Blanco declared that the sandwich was “not that bad” and invited Gomez to give it a try. “All right, babe, come try,” he said.
Visibly sceptical, Gomez picked up the sandwich and shared, “I don’t want to. I’m not going to like this,” before adding, “But, I love pickles.”
Blanco then forced her to take a bite and said, “Just eat it!” While hesitating, Gomez took a bite and quickly declared her dislike for the unusual snack before leaving.

On July 12, Gomez and Blanco took the “Who’s Most Likely To” challenge, giving fans a glimpse into their relationship. The pair answered questions like “Who’s the first to apologize during an argument?” and “Who is more romantic?” They also revealed that Gomez was the first to say “I love you” in their relationship, which they publicly confirmed in December 2023.
On the work front, Gomez was last seen in Emilia Pérez, written and directed by Jacques Audiard. The movie also features Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, Adriana Paz, and Édgar Ramírez. It premiered on May 18 at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
