Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper and batter KL Rahul has created history by becoming the fifth Indian batter to hit 300 sixes in all T20s. Rahul reached the milestone during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 14.

Rahul, who hit two sixes in his innings of 39 off 27, now has exact 300 sixes in 217 T20 games. Ahead of him are, Suresh Raina (325 T20 sixes in 336 matches), MS Dhoni (328 sixes in 382 T20 games), Virat Kohli (383 sixes in 382 T20s), and Rohit Sharma (497 sixes in 431 matches).

Ofhis 300 sixes, 178 have come in the IPL where he has played for multiple franchises before becoming LSG skipper. He has previously played for Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and SunRisers Hyderabad as well since making his debut in 2013.

For India men's national T20 team, Rahul had turned up 72 times and has hit 99 sixes. His rest of 23 sixes have comes for Karnataka - the side he represents in India's domestic circuit.

In IPL, Rahul's best six-hitting season came in 2018 when he smashed 32 maximums in 14 games. He has also hit 30 sixes twice in the league: in 2021 and 2022.

As for the match against KKR, Lucknow kept losing wickets at regular intervals despite a modest run-rate. LSG were 111/5 in 15th over before Nicholas Pooran scored a handy 32-ball 45 to lift his team to 161/7 in 20 overs. Apart from Rahul and Pooran, Ayush Badoni managed to cross 20-run mark and scored 29 off 27.

For KKR, Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers with 3/28 in four overs. Apart from him, Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Andre Russell also chipped in with one wicket each.
