IND vs BAN, 2nd Test: Day 3 called off without play due to wet outfield

The third day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur was called off without any play on Sunday (Sep 29) due to wet outfield. The first day of the Test was also curtailed to only 35 overs before early stumps due to rain interruption while no play happened on second day due to persistent rain.

There was no rain on third day but the start of play was delayed due to wet outfield. The umpires made an inspection at 10 am local time and deemed the ground condition unfit to play. The second inspection was done at 12 pm local time and the conditions hadn't improved enough yet for the play, cancelling the second session as well.

After the final inspection at 2 pm, the umpires called it a day without play for the second time in two days.

Bangladesh scored 107/3 in 35 overs on day 1 with pacer Akash Deep taking two of those wickets and spinner Rai Ashwin taking the third one - his 420th wicket in Asia.

Both the teams read the pitch differently as suggested by their playing XI selection. India are unchanged from the first Test in Chennai where they played three pacers in Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, are playing three spinners in the second Test as opposed to two in the first Test.

The two-match series, however, is 1-0 in favour of India after they won the Chennai Test by 280 runs in nearly three and a half days.

With only two more days left in the Tests, a draw seems the most plausible outcome, giving India a series win.

India next host New Zealand from October 16 in three-Test series before heading to Australia for much awaited five-Test Border-Gavaskar series.
