
England fast bowler Chris Woakes was forced to bowl spin on day 2 of the third Test against Sri Lanka as umpires deemed bad light for fast bowling. Woakes, who had already bowled two balls in his over, bowled the rest four balls as off-spinner, a rare sight in cricket.
Woakes' teammate Joe Root, who is himself a part-time spinner, was seen laughing on the change while standing in slip. Have a look at the video below:
As for match, Sri Lanka were 211/5 by the time stumps were called on day 2 (Saturday, Sep 7) in reply to England's first innings total of 325.

England, who are already leading three-Test series 2-0, had Sri Lanka on rope at 93/5 before Dhananjaya de Silva and Kamindu Mendis saw off the day with an unbeaten 118-run partnership.
Come day 3, Sri Lanka could not take advantage of their resurrection as they were bowled out for 263, conceding a first innings lead of 62 runs.
The visitor's, however, hit England back hard in the second innings, taking out seven wickets for 80-odd runs with total lead less than 150 runs by the time this news was written on day 3, leaving Sri Lanka in great position to win the match.
PCB to host entire England Test series at home
Meanwhile,Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has all but confirmed that the upcoming three-Test home series England will be played entirely in the country. The news of series going to be held in Pakistan comes amid the reports of PCB thinking to move Karachi Test (second one) to outside the country.
It is because of the ongoing renovation work at multiple venues, including Karachi, for the ICC Champions Trophy. Pakistan are scheduled to the ICC tournament in February-March next year.
