It has been a chaotic last 24 hours in the history of Bangladesh as anti-government protestors have taken charge of the nation. While the country continues to boil under the protests, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is keeping a close eye on the developments in Bangladesh who are set to host the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup. According to reports, ICC is likely to consider alternate venues for the mega event if tensions continue to flare in Bangladesh with PM Sheikh Hasina also resigning on Monday (August 5).
"The ICC is closely monitoring developments in co-ordination with the Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB], their security agencies and our own independent security consultants," an ICC statement said.
"Our priority is the safety and well-being of all participants," it further read.
With protestors stormingthe Prime Minister's residence on Monday, Sheikh Hasina had to resign from her post before leaving Bangladesh for India. Immediately, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman assumed charge with theview of establishing an interim government in the country.
The Bangladeshi ex-prime minister reached India's Hindon Air Base at around 6:30 pm (IST) aboard Bangladesh Air Force's C-130 transport aircraft AJAX1413.

"The aircraft movement was monitored by Indian Air Force and security agencies from its entry into Indian airspace to the Hindon airbase in Ghaziabad," reported news agency ANI.
Meanwhile, protestors havevandalised public and government properties in the national capitalDhaka and have invadedthe PM residence. Houses of members of Parliament and ministers have been damaged by the protestors as tension continuesto flare in the country. Among the properties (Residence) damaged isthat of former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza- a member of Hasina's Awami League party
