The Jammu and Kashmir government approved the Single Window (Industrial Investment and Business Facilitation) Act, 2018 on Monday, news agency PTI reported.

According to reports, the act will facilitate easy flow of investments into the state.

Principal Secretary, industries, Shailendra Kumar said the enactment of the act is part of the government's flagship initiative to improve ease of doing business indicators.

"The governor's administration approved the J&K Single Window Act, 2018. The act has been approved by the state administrative council (SAC), headed by governor Satya Pal Malik," an official spokesman said.

"The act aims at a comprehensive and unprecedented overhaul of the outdated processes and procedures involved in setting up businesses in the state," he said.

More than 12 departments have been brought together in an online service. Three-tier committees at the state, division and district levels will be set up to ensure speedy clearance of business proposals.

"All services from the pre-operation, pre-establishment stage to the renewal stage are present in the single window portal," Kumar said.
