The F77 MACH 2 electric motorcycle from Ultraviolette Automotive has become the first Indian and Asian motorcycle to receive global certification under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) regulations. The motorcycle now meets road approval in 40 countries, including countries within the European Union, in keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Design in India, for the world.'
The F77 MACH 2 is developed and assembled at the company's advanced facility in Bengaluru. Ultraviolette’s model meets international standards for quality, safety and performance and thus stands true to Ultraviolette’s stand in the global electric mobility movement.
Ultraviolette is now gearing up to ship its first European Union units in early 2024, followed by more countries after its EICMA 2024 showcase. It is a pioneering effort by an Indian brand to make headway in a very competitive European performance motorcycle market.
The certification is also a 'monumental' moment for the company, which CEO and Co-Founder Narayan Subramaniam described for bringing Ultraviolette’s global reach forward. He expressed excitement in introducing the European consumer to the F77 MACH 2, and further, that 'this certification is not a regulatory milestone but rather a company wide testament to our commitment to world class design and performance.'
Now approved for riders with A1 and A2 licenses, the F77 MACH 2 is certified UNECE L3e. That is in line with Ultraviolette’s ‘Make in India for the World‘ strategy to grow and aim high globally.
Our goal has always been to create globally competitive motorcycle platforms, ' Niraj Rajmohan, CTO and Co-Founder added. This certification cements our commitment to bringing high performance electric vehicles designed in India."
The motorcycle’s export launch was celebrated by Union Minister of Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy and Karnataka Minister of Industries M.B. Patil, the latter dubbing Ultraviolette as the "Tesla of India" for its innovative contributions to the electric vehicle sector.
Ultraviolette will showcase the F77 MACH 2 at EICMA in Milan, Italy, from November 5 to 10, at Pavilion 15, Stand M02, highlighting the future of electric mobility.
