A humorous incident occurred at 10 Downing Street as UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte were briefly locked out of the iconic London residence during their meeting on Friday. Videos and images circulating online capture the leaders attempting to enter but facing a temporarily locked door.

Despite the doorstep hiccup, the leaders engaged in crucial discussions. An official press release from Sunak's office outlined their talks, expressing regret over the breakdown of the fighting pause to release hostages and emphasizing the importance of delivering more aid to Gaza.

The leaders shared a similar outlook on the situation and pledged continued close cooperation in supporting Ukraine's defense. The conversation also delved into addressing the scourge of illegal migration, with Sunak updating Rutte on the UK's recent steps, including the Rwanda policy and the Illegal Migration Act.

Controversial immigration plan and minister's resignation

The meeting took place amid controversy surrounding Sunak's anti-immigration plan, "Stop The Boats," proposing asylum seekers be sent to Rwanda. This plan has caused internal divisions, leading to the resignation of Sunak's immigration minister, Robert Jenrick.

In his resignation letter, Jenrick highlighted the high stakes and the necessity for stronger protections to prevent legal challenges. Sunak defended the plan, attributing opposition to a fundamental misunderstanding of the situation.
