Student opens fire in Texas school, at least 8 dead

 At least eight people, mostly students, were killed after a student at a Texas school opened fire inside the premises on Friday morning.

The shooter, a student from Santa Fe High school in Texas shot at several classmates as other students raced to hide in classrooms.

"There are multiple fatalities," Sheriff of Harris County, Ed Gonzalez said.

Police in Texas later added that explosive devices may have been located on and off campus.

"Law enforcement is in the process of rendering them safe. School has been evacuated," the school informed.

At least six people were hospitalized, including a police officer. Hospital officials told AFP one victim was in critical condition.

The student who is reportedly a teenager aged 17 has been taken into custody.

Texas sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the shooter was a student. "There could be anywhere between eight to 10 fatalities, the majority being students," the sheriff said.

President Trump who had tweeted as the news broke said: "We grieve for the terrible loss of life, and send our support and love to everyone affected by this horrible attack in Texas."
