
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), on Sunday (Sep 29), claimedthat Hezbollah's underground headquarters that was attacked on Friday was located just 53 metres from a United Nations school in the Lebanese capital city ofBeirut,stressing that the militant group hides among civilians.
They further said that Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was eliminated after the IDF targetedthe underground headquarters, which is embedded beneath civilian buildings.
Nasrallah was killed along with over 20 additional Hezbollah terrorist, the IDF said in a post on X.
The Israeli military stressed that this proves that Hezbollah "hides among civilians", endangering the lives of the common people of Lebanon.
According to the Israelimilitary, among those killed at Hezbollah’s underground headquarters in the Dahiyeh suburb of Beirut are:"Ali Karaki, the commander of Hezbollah’s Southern Front; Ibrahim Hussein Jazini, head of Nasrallah’s personal security unit; Samir Tawfiq Deeb, an adviser to Nasrallah; Abd al-Amir Muhammad Sablini, responsible for Hezbollah’s force buildup; and Ali Nayef Ayoub, responsible for Hezbollah’s firepower."
The IDF said Jazini and Deeb were among the closest people to the Hezbollah chief, and, as such, were “a significant source of knowledge regarding the ongoing functioning of the Hezbollah terror organization and Nasrallah in particular.”
Hezbollah also confirmed that its top commander, Ali Karaki, died in the strike that killed Nasrallah in an underground compound where senior Hezbollah figures were meeting.
Karaki was considered aninfluential Hezbollah leaderwho headedthe Southern Commandand organisedmost military operations against Israel.

The IDF, on Sunday, confirmed that it carried out an airstrike in Beirut anddescribed itas "targeted".
