Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who is currently on a three-day visit to India, expressed his opinion on the Trump administration noting that the Iranians had long had their destiny in the hands of the US.

"They would decide for our economy, our culture. Even we didn't have an educational channel on TV. All military centres were in total control of the US," Rouhani said.

He also noted that the Iranian government will adhere to any agreement that is signed with the United States.

"If the US violates this agreement, you will see that America will regret its decision. Not only US administration, but also US people would voice their opposition immediately and will object to the violators," he further added.

President Rouhani recently condemned Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. He also urged the Muslim community to support the Palestinian cause. He criticised the White House for imposing a ban on travellers from six Muslim countries.
