The Tamil Nadu government has ordered comprehensive quality and alcohol-content testing across all state distilleries following public concern and a political controversy surrounding the swift clearance of liquor variants produced by Enrica Enterprises. Prompted by consumer groups and TASMAC employees demanding tighter safety standards, the state-run monopoly has directed officials to verify that all spirits strictly conform to permitted alcohol-by-volume (ABV) limits—such as the standard 42.8% threshold for spirits, alongside specific ranges for beers and wines.
