Nepal pays tribute to victims of violent protests

A year after young Nepalis burned down their own Parliament in fury, the country paused to remember. Nepal observed its first "Gen Z Martyrs' Day" on September 8, a public holiday marking the anniversary of protests that killed at least 77 people and toppled PM K.P. Sharma Oli's government. Ministers, families, and survivors gathered at the old Parliament building in Kathmandu to light candles for those lost.
