<p>As athletes are gathering to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics, the “anti-sex” bed is again in the limelight as players share what the cardboard bed actually looks like. Many athletes have actually tried to check the durability of these "anti-sex" beds and tried to understand how strong they are.</p>

<p>British diver and Olympic gold medalist Tom Daley on Monday (July 22) shared a glimpse of the controversial bed on TikTok, as he tested its capacity to withstand sexual activity.</p>

<p>“This is cardboard,” the diver said, as he filmed the bedpost and headboard. "As you can see, it’s like a box," he added.</p>

<p>He also shared the visuals of the mattress topper and a thin mattress on a cardboard base. “Then, we get our own Paris ’24 [comforter],” he said.</p>

<p>The 30-year-old also tested the stability of the bed by jumping up and down, and said, “As you can see, they’re pretty sturdy.”</p>

<p>These "anti-sex" beds were also tested by Irish gymnast Rhys McClenaghan who recorded himself stomping, jumping and bouncing on the bed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Nope, they pass the test,” the athlete said, as the video ended. He added, “It’s fake! Fake news!”</p>

<p>Australian tennis players Daria Saville and Ellen Perez also checked the strength of the bed.&nbsp;<br />

<p>Amid various rumours regarding the inclusion of the cardboard beds, Paris officials said to Reuters in May that they chose this material to “ensure minimal environmental impact and a second life for all equipment used during the short period of the Games.”</p>

<p>“It goes without saying that the quality of the furniture has been rigorously tested to ensure it is robust, comfortable and appropriate for all the athletes who will use it, and who span a very broad range of body types," the statement added.</p>

PeP (post-exposure prophylaxis), PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), condom use, lubes, etc.&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
Another part of my job would be linking people who have tested positive to treatment either with a government or private facility. One of the important jobs that Naz does is offer counselling to somebody who is scared that they have exposed themselves to HIV or somebody who has tested positive. HIV testing and pre- and post-counselling are life-saving because we come from the conditioning that HIV is bad. We break that down,” Sahil told WION.&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
<strong>It is an assumption that only gay men contribute to the bulk of global HIV cases. Is this true?&nbsp;</strong><br />
&nbsp;<br />
“No, this is not true. Heterosexual people contribute to the bulk of global HIV cases, but yes, the gay population, or gay men specifically, is more vulnerable. Some reports say that this population is 22 times more vulnerable to HIV because of the kind of shame and stigma attached to gay sex, and people often end up meeting their sexual partners in high-risk places.&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
Who is exposed to HIV depends a lot on your external circumstances and the kind of agency that you have. In countries like India and parts of Africa, it was unique that heterosexual women who were married and had one sexual partner were the largest population to be found to be living with HIV. They were married off young and had no agency in those marriages, and their husbands were having sex with females and men outside of marriage, and eventually, these women and their kids ended up with HIV.”&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
<strong>Is life as an HIV-positive person different or difficult?</strong><br />
&nbsp;<br />
“Yes, initially it was both different and difficult, but medical science has progressed, and I am happy to report that life is now not difficult; it is fairly regular as for any other person. We often say in our counselling that various other medical conditions pose challenges greater than living with HIV.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It is different in the sense that you now have to take care of your health. You become more health-conscious and change the way you interact with life in general.&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
In India, medicine, like the rest of the world, is at a stage where you have to take one a day. There are research studies that are showing very positive results for even injections that can be taken once a month in the future. Even this requirement to take a pill every day is hopefully going to go away soon."</p>

<p><strong>In 2021, there were 2.3 million PLHIV people in India. Are efforts being taken to curb the spread?&nbsp;</strong><br />
&nbsp;<br />
“Efforts are being made. However, the HIV prevention programme in India was successful to a point because the government worked very closely with NGOs on the ground. They launched targeted intervention programmes for vulnerable groups.&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
But, as the virus is becoming more manageable and we are progressing in time, the funding has dried up on the subject. International attention on the subject has dried up. I think this is too soon.&nbsp;</p>

<p>some specific Indian states continue to be vulnerable to HIV due to very specific challenges, as the recent stats of injectable Drug users from Manipur have shown us. The queer population continues to be vulnerable. "<br />
&nbsp;<br />
<strong>How do days like Zero HIV Stigma Day and Zero Discrimination Day help?&nbsp;</strong><br />
&nbsp;<br />
“Days like these definitely help because they bring the required attention to the subject. The attention, which has been fairly reduced in the past 4-5 years internationally, We need to understand that even the government . facilities where people need to go for treatment need to be managed better. Fresh infections keep coming up, and the idea is that we live in a world that is HIV-free, but newer and younger people are testing positive. Days like these help us break that wrong information . down because stigma is as bad as it was at the start of the journey.”<br />
&nbsp;<br />
<strong>Can you tell me an instance in which a PLHIV person was treated unfairly, and how did you and Naz help them out?&nbsp;</strong><br />
&nbsp;<br />
“Living with HIV is manageable, but the stigma continues. Naz has been working in this area for 30 years, and it is fairly common for a PLHIV to be treated unfairly at the workplace or in public places. This person was treated very poorly at the government. ART facility because they were a transperson and they were living with other conditions along with HIV, and they were being referred from one place to another. We went there, and finally they are on regular treatment, and their condition has improved.<br />
&nbsp;<br />
Another person who was facing challenges with their employer issued a circular in which there was a list of tests that all employees had to do, and it also included the HIV test. This is against the HIV Act of 2017. No employer can ask for an HIV test, so we did advocacy there because the person did not want their employer to find out their status. Things like these keep happening.”&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
<strong>What is your advice to people about HIV?</strong><br />
&nbsp;<br />
“We are all part of a conditioning system, and we grow up fearing HIV so much because of all the myths around it. Nobody teaches us how to protect ourselves and, in case we do end up diagnosed, how to manage and live with it.&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
Science has advanced so much. Positive people, having children is possible. Marrying a non-PLHIV is possible. Science has advanced, but our fear stems from misinformation. So my advice would be that all of us should know more about the virus. The more we know, the less we are afraid of it, and the less we discriminate against PLHIV. The way it is transmitted needs to be known to everybody. This will lead us to a more equal and kinder world,” Sahil told WION.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It has been close to half a century since HIV was discovered. The world needs to understand that HIV is no longer a death sentence. It is not curable but it is treatable, and people living with it are leading happy and healthy lives. We must also unlearn the myths and learn the science to combat the stigma surrounding the virus.</p>

One of the important jobs that Naz does is offer counselling to somebody who is scared that they have exposed themselves to HIV or somebody who has tested positive. HIV testing and pre- and post-counselling are life-saving because we come from the conditioning that HIV is bad. We break that down,” Sahil told WION. It is an assumption that only gay men contribute to the bulk of global HIV cases. Is this true? “No, this is not true. Heterosexual people contribute to the bulk of global HIV cases, but yes, the gay population, or gay men specifically, is more vulnerable. They were married off young and had no agency in those marriages, and their husbands were having sex with females and men outside of marriage, and eventually, these women and their kids ended up with HIV.” Is life as an HIV-positive person different or difficult? “Yes, initially it was both different and difficult, but medical science has progressed, and I am happy to report that life is now not difficult; it is fairly regular as for any other person. We often say in our counselling that various other medical conditions pose challenges greater than living with HIV. It is different in the sense that you now have to take care of your health. You become more health-conscious and change the way you interact with life in general. In India, medicine, like the rest of the world, is at a stage where you have to take one a day. There are research studies that are showing very positive results for even injections that can be taken once a month in the future. Even this requirement to take a pill every day is hopefully going to go away soon." In 2021, there were 2.3 million PLHIV people in India. Are efforts being taken to curb the spread? “Efforts are being made. However, the HIV prevention programme in India was successful to a point because the government worked very closely with NGOs on the ground. They launched targeted intervention programmes for vulnerable groups. But, as the virus is becoming more manageable and we are progressing in time, the funding has dried up on the subject. International attention on the subject has dried up. I think this is too soon. some specific Indian states continue to be vulnerable to HIV due to very specific challenges, as the recent stats of injectable Drug users from Manipur have shown us. The queer population continues to be vulnerable. " How do days like Zero HIV Stigma Day and Zero Discrimination Day help? “Days like these definitely help because they bring the required attention to the subject. The attention, which has been fairly reduced in the past 4-5 years internationally, We need to understand that even the government . facilities where people need to go for treatment need to be managed better. Fresh infections keep coming up, and the idea is that we live in a world that is HIV-free, but newer and younger people are testing positive. Days like these help us break that wrong information . down because stigma is as bad as it was at the start of the journey.” Can you tell me an instance in which a PLHIV person was treated unfairly, and how did you and Naz help them out? “Living with HIV is manageable, but the stigma continues. Naz has been working in this area for 30 years, and it is fairly common for a PLHIV to be treated unfairly at the workplace or in public places. This person was treated very poorly at the government. ART facility because they were a transperson and they were living with other conditions along with HIV, and they were being referred from one place to another. We went there, and finally they are on regular treatment, and their condition has improved. Another person who was facing challenges with their employer issued a circular in which there was a list of tests that all employees had to do, and it also included the HIV test. This is against the HIV Act of 2017. No employer can ask for an HIV test, so we did advocacy there because the person did not want their employer to find out their status. Things like these keep happening.” What is your advice to people about HIV? “We are all part of a conditioning system, and we grow up fearing HIV so much because of all the myths around it. Nobody teaches us how to protect ourselves and, in case we do end up diagnosed, how to manage and live with it. Science has advanced so much. Positive people, having children is possible. Marrying a non-PLHIV is possible. Science has advanced, but our fear stems from misinformation. So my advice would be that all of us should know more about the virus. The more we know, the less we are afraid of it, and the less we discriminate against PLHIV. The way it is transmitted needs to be known to everybody. This will lead us to a more equal and kinder world,” Sahil told WION. It has been close to half a century since HIV was discovered. The world needs to understand that HIV is no longer a death sentence. It is not curable but it is treatable, and people living with it are leading happy and healthy lives. We must also unlearn the myths and learn the science to combat the stigma surrounding the virus.

<p>A massive Windows 10 outage is being faced by its users across the world because of a new Crowdstrike update because of which many computer screens have reportedly got stuck on the blye recovery screen.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The computers have stopped working at a time when this massive outage has impacted government offices, banks, companies and airports across the world.</p>

<p>The users have claimed that they are seeing the Blue Screen of Death error messages on the screens of their computers installed in banking institutions, supermarkets and media companies. Because of this some radio studios and TV channels have also gone offline.</p>

<p>The 13-year-old Yair Whiteson discovered the ring when he was hiking with his father in the region of Haifa.</p>

<p>The father and son were crossing an ancient quarry on Mount Carmel when Yair, who has a passion for collecting interesting fossils and rocks, saw a "small green item" on the ground.</p>

<p>In a statement, Yair said, "It was corroded, and at first, I thought it was just a rusty bolt. I thought about heating it, but then fortunately I understood it was a ring. At home, I saw it had an image on it. At first glance, I thought it was a warrior."</p>

<p>Subsequently, his family reached out to the IAA who sent the artefact&nbsp;to Israel's National Treasures Department.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>All about the Roman-era ring</strong></h2>

<p>According to the researchers, the small ring must have belonged to a girl or woman during the Late&nbsp;Roman&nbsp;period (second to third centuries AD).</p>

<p>The ring was discovered in Khirbet Shalala, which is an archaeological site on a hilltop close to the quarry which is filled with the remains of a Roman-period farmstead.</p>

World's most valuable fossil ever 'Apex' the Stegosaurus sold for THIS much at an auction

<p>In a rare medical milestone, a German man has become only the seventh person in the 40-year history of AIDS epidemic to be completely cured of HIV.</p>

<p>The 60-year-old German, who wished to remain anonymous, recovered after receiving a stem transplant, the doctors announced on Thursday (Jul 18).</p>

<p>The man underwent the painful and risky procedure which is reserved only for those who have both HIV and&nbsp;acute myeloid leukemia, or AML. He received the stem cell transplant in October 2015 and&nbsp;stopped taking his antiretroviral drugs in September 2018.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Since then, he remains in viral remission with no rebound as confirmed by multiple ultra-sensitive tests that detected no viable HIV in his body.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“A healthy person has many wishes, a sick person only one," the man reflected on his HIV-free status.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The findings of the case are expected to be presented&nbsp;at the 25th International AIDS Conference in Munich by&nbsp;Dr. Christian Gaebler, a physician-scientist at the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The longer we see these HIV remissions without any HIV therapy, the more confidence we can get that we’re probably seeing a case where we really have eradicated all competent HIV,” said&nbsp;Gaebler.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Gaebler, however, had tempered the expectation saying "the patient's case is highly suggestive of an HIV cure". The treatment given to the German patient is not available to nearly 40 million people living with the deadly virus across the world.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The agency had also received a warning regarding a “character of suspicion” being present on the ground more than an hour before the deadly shooting which took place on Saturday (July 13) at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, according to the New York Post.</p>

<p>According to The Post, Crooks was not holding a gun in his hand when the warning was issued against him.</p>

<p>The webcam has been installed in a way that if not hundreds then thousands of prairie rattlesnakes, which are hidden between the rocks in northern Colorado, are captured in the live stream.</p>

<p>For the people who are interested in understanding the lives of snakes, the live stream is available on YouTube.</p>

<p>The Colorado live stream is being carried out under the initiative called Project RattleCam in which the scientists aim to collect real-time data on the venomous reptile.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The remote site is located on&nbsp;private land in northern&nbsp;Colorado&nbsp;which is full of rock crevices where the snakes can remain warm and hide from the predators.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“This is a big, big den for rattlesnakes. This is one of the biggest ones we know of,” said Emily Taylor, a California Polytechnic State University biology professor leading the Project RattleCam research, on Tuesday (July 16).</p>

<p>In the winter, the high-elevation Colorado rattlesnakes live in the den and come out in the spring to carry out activities.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At this time, there are only pregnant female snakes in the den and the males have slithered towards the lower part of the country.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The babies are set to be born in August. Scientists have emphasised that rattlesnake mothers are very caring for their young ones and protect them against predators.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Rattlesnakes are actually really good mothers. People don’t know that,” said Taylor.</p>

<p>With the help of a webcam, the scientists will be able to observe the behaviour of the snake without any interference.</p>

<p>In Ankleshwar, Gujarat, a video went viral showing a near stampede at a walk-in interview for just 10 positions in a private firm.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Around 1,800 jobseekers showed up, overwhelming the venue and causing a railing to collapse under the weight of the crowd. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries. These incidents highlight the intense competition for even basic jobs in India.</p>

<p>Taking a dig at the ruling government, Congress said, the video exposed the BJP's Gujarat model and the ruling party was imposing this model of unemployment across the country.</p>
