"Think of it as a short period of time to do things like fix typos, add missed tags, and more."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Blockchain research firm Elliptic said that thieves stole over $100 million worth of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in the year to July.</p>

<p>The blockchain-based assets, which can be transferred by the owner, represent digital files, and cover anything from avatars in computer games to million-dollar cartoon apes.</p>

<p>From wash trading to counterfeit works, the NFT sector is replete with scams as the fast-emerging digital asset became a new front in crypto's hacking problem.</p>

<p>It comes after NFT prices and sales volumes plunged since cryptocurrency prices crashed in May and June this year.</p>

Scams remain rife in NFT market; tokens worth $100 million stolen in past year

<p>Tesla, the automobile giant&nbsp;and the market leader in electric vehicles thanks to its cutting-edge driving technology, including ‘self-driving/autopilot’ feature, found itself a target of snide remarks from bemused netizens.</p>

<p>Zatko has revealed to the media outlets that the company allows more than necessary staff members to have access to the platform's central controls and most sensitive information without adequate oversight.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It is also reported that may be one or more current employees may be working for a foreign intelligence service.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Among other serious allegations, Zatko mentioned that Twitter's own board and other government regulators have been deceived by the company's leadership about the security vulnerabilities.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Some issues could even lead to foreign spying or manipulation, hacking and disinformation campaigns, the report added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Zatko was fired by Twitter in January for alleged claims that his performance was poor. The report said that Zatko made his claims public so that the security lapses are made known to Twitter's board. It will also help the social media company to help fix years of technical shortcomings.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Musk is now engaged in a legal battle with Twitter after the Tesla chief backed out of buying the company.&nbsp;<br />

<strong>Twitter's reaction&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>In response to the claims, a Twitter spokesperson told CNN in a statement that security and privacy are both longtime priorities for the company.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Twitter spokesperson said: "Mr. Zatko was fired from his senior executive role at Twitter for poor performance and ineffective leadership over six months ago."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"While we haven't had access to the specific allegations being referenced, what we've seen so far is a narrative about our privacy and data security practices that is riddled with inconsistencies and inaccuracies, and lacks important context," the statement read. &nbsp;</p>

<p>"Mr. Zatko's allegations and opportunistic timing appear designed to capture attention and inflict harm on Twitter, its customers and its shareholders. Security and privacy have long been company-wide priorities at Twitter and we still have a lot of work ahead of us," the statement added.&nbsp;</p>

Zatko was fired by Twitter in January for alleged claims that his performance was poor. The report said that Zatko made his claims public so that the security lapses are made known to Twitter's board. Apple workers oppose return-to-office orders, launch petition against it

Tech entrepreneurs in Asia are using food that would have otherwise gone to waste to offer cheap meals through mobile phone apps.</p>

<p>According to&nbsp;Preston Wong, chief executive officer and co-founder of Treatsure, which collaborates with chains including the Hyatt, Accor Group and the Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel to allow app users to pick out and collect a “buffet-in-a-box” of food that would otherwise be thrown out, Treatsure has more than 30,000 customers and has prevented the waste of 30 metric tonnes of food since its introduction in 2017.</p>

<p>Users normally have to wait until the end of service before they can pick up their meals. Even still, that's a long cry from Singapore's 817,000 tonnes of food waste in 2021, a 23% increase from the previous year. According to officials, Semakau, Singapore's sole landfill, should be able to handle all of the country's solid waste disposal requirements through at least 2035.</p>

<p>Hong Kong has comparable issues. According to Hong Kong's Environmental Protection Department, it has already filled 13 landfills and will continue to fill the remaining sites through 2020 at a rate of around 3,300 tonnes of food waste each day.</p>

<p>“The space is very limited,” said Anne-Claire Béraud, Hong Kong country manager of Phenix by OnTheList, an app launched in the territory last year. “Everything is very dense so there isn’t a lot of space to treat all this waste.”</p>

<p>Users of the app can pick up a "Mystery Basket" of food for at least a 50% discount from places like Pret A Manger and a nearby cake business called The Cakery. According to the business, it has sold 25,000 baskets thus far, preventing the waste of 4.5 kilogrammes of CO2 and around 1 kilogramme of food.</p>

<p>After facing accusations of exposing young users to bullying or steering them toward harmful content, tech companies such as Snap and its tech peers TikTok and YouTube testified before US lawmakers in October.</p>

<p>Following the leaked internal documents by a Facebook whistleblower that she said showed the app harmed some teens’ mental health and body image, Instagram also testified in a Senate hearing in December over children’s online safety.</p>

<p>After unveiling its new autonomous vehicle (AV) with a detachable steering wheel, China's search engine giant Baidu Inc has obtained permits to operate fully driverless robotaxi services on open roads in two Chinese cities.</p>

<p>Allowing commercial robotaxis to offer rides to the public without human safety drivers in the car, the permits have been awarded by the central city of Wuhan and the southwestern municipality of Chongqing.</p>

<p>Calling them a "turning point" in China's policy-making toward autonomous driving, Baidu said it will deploy a batch of five fee-charging robotaxis in each city.</p>

<p>The robotaxis will be permitted to operate in designated areas from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Wuhan and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Chongqing.</p>

Search engine giant Baidu obtains permit to operate fully driverless robotaxi services in China

<p>In a wide-ranging subpoena, Twitter’s legal team on Tuesday asked for information about a host of tech investors and entrepreneurs connected to Elon Musk as per a report from The Washington Post.</p>

<p>The subpoena, which includes “extensive requests for communications, including ‘checklists, timelines, presentations, decks, organisational calls, meetings, notes, recordings’ related to the deal’s financing,’” has miffed Musk’s high-tech allies.</p>

<p>Prof Farid is an expert in image analysis at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the inventor of PhotoDNA, which is an "image hashing" technique. It is generally used by companies across the web to remove illegal images after&nbsp;identifying them.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the latest podcast, Farid said, "The pushback was from a relatively small number of privacy groups. I contend that the vast majority of people would have said 'sure, this seems perfectly reasonable', but yet a relatively small but vocal group put a huge amount of pressure on Apple and I think Apple, somewhat cowardly, succumbed to that pressure."&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added, "I think they should have stuck their ground and said: 'This is the right thing to do and we are going to do it.' And I am a strong advocate of not just Apple doing this, but Snap doing this, and Google doing this – all the online services doing this."&nbsp;</p>

Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms reports revenue drop for the first time ever

<p>A popular messaging app that calls itself secure with end-to-end encryption has suffered a security lapse resulting into a huge cache of users’ messages being posted online, said a report. TechCrunch says that the messaging app is widely used in Asia and across the world with 20 million global users.</p>

<p>Even JusTalk Kids shows 1 million android downloads on Google Play. JusTalk says that both apps are end-to-end encrypted, which means that only the people in the conversation can read the messages. JusTalk claims on its website that “only you and the person you communicate with can see, read or listen to them: Even the JusTalk team won’t access your data!”</p>

<p>But the lapse has raised questions on the security of these apps.</p>

<p>The leaked data includes millions of JusTalk user messages, along with the precise date and time they were sent and the phone numbers of both the sender and the recipient. It also contained records of calls that were placed using the app.</p>

<p>The report says that security researcher Anurag Sen found the data this week and asked TechCrunch for help to report it to the company.</p>

<p>JusTalk was launched by Juphoon, a China-based cloud company in 2016. The app is now owned by Ninbo Jus. As per records on Juphoon’s website, both companies appear to share same office address.</p>

<p>Because each message recorded in the data contained every phone number in the same chat, it was possible to follow entire conversations, including children using the JusTalk Kids app to chat with their parents.</p>

TechCrunch says that the messaging app is widely used in Asia and across the world with 20 million global users. Even JusTalk Kids shows 1 million android downloads on Google Play. JusTalk says that both apps are end-to-end encrypted, which means that only the people in the conversation can read the messages. JusTalk claims on its website that “only you and the person you communicate with can see, read or listen to them: Even the JusTalk team won’t access your data!” But the lapse has raised questions on the security of these apps. The leaked data includes millions of JusTalk user messages, along with the precise date and time they were sent and the phone numbers of both the sender and the recipient. It also contained records of calls that were placed using the app. The report says that security researcher Anurag Sen found the data this week and asked TechCrunch for help to report it to the company. JusTalk was launched by Juphoon, a China-based cloud company in 2016. The app is now owned by Ninbo Jus. As per records on Juphoon’s website, both companies appear to share same office address. Because each message recorded in the data contained every phone number in the same chat, it was possible to follow entire conversations, including children using the JusTalk Kids app to chat with their parents. Messaging app suffers security lapse, millions of messages leaked: Report

<p>According to cyber security analytics firm Zscaler Threatlabz, Google has removed 50 more apps from its Play Store as it said that they were infected by the Joker malware. It is suggested that users must uninstall these suspected apps if they are still on their smartphones.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It is also recommended that the users must check mobile antivirus programmes to clean their phones. As per Zscaler ThreatLabz’s research team, the Joker, Facestealer and Coper malware have been recently found to be spreading through apps.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The reports stated that the majority of these apps were infected with Joker malware, which is one of the most well-known malware that exploits Android devices.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It is claimed that it manages to take advantage of Google’s official app store with the help of its trail signatures. The process includes updating the virus’s code, execution process and payload-retrieval techniques.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reports have claimed that once active, Joker can install premium diallers and covert spyware on devices. It entices unsuspecting customers to sign up for costly monthly subscription plans.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report explained, “This malware is designed to steal SMS messages, contact lists, and device information, and to sign the victims up for premium wireless application protocol (WAP) services.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reports mentioned that Google was instantly notified about these apps and they were immediately removed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But the problem is that those apps have already been downloaded by hundreds and thousands of Android users.&nbsp;</p>
