<p>Even after being re-instated, Trump more or less stayed away from the platform which was arguably his favourite mic during his time in office. He chose to share his thoughts (mostly rage for Dems and Biden) on his own platform, Truth Social, but to a much smaller audience than he had on Twitter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But he is now on X... and posted his police mugshot after his arrest in Georgia, his first post on the platform since January 2021. Trump was formally arrested on racketeering and conspiracy charges in relation to his effort to overturn the 2020 election, becoming the first sitting or former president with a prison mugshot.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He was released on a $200,000 bond.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Those files might contain something that proves to be useful for Trump. Well, only time will tell.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When Truth Social was launched, Trump agreed to make it the "first channel" for "any and all social media communications and posts coming from his personal profile" as part of his agreement with Digital World Acquisition Corp. to take Truth Social public. This was done so he wouldn't compete against his own company.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The exclusivity clause was disclosed in the filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. It stated that the former president was "generally required to make any social media post on Truth Social and may not make the same post on another social media site for 6 hours" for an 18-month period starting on December 22, 2021. The time frame was over in June.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Trump returned to Facebook in March, posting, "I'M BACK!" just weeks after his personal account there was reactivated, and he has been using it to share his videos and messages. If he plans to come back on Twitter, the way he used to, then the next year's election just became even more interesting.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Who knows, it might even help Musk, with more engagement from Trump users and detractors on the platform adding up to the numbers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Presently, news links are presented on users' timelines as "cards," featuring an image, source address, and a condensed headline. This format has been effective in attracting clicks and helping publishers engage readers.</p>

<p>The Verge website had discovered that alterations made by Twitter in 2016 employed metadata from tweets posted starting in December 2014 onward to augment additional data from linked webpages and facilitate attachments without affecting a tweet's character count.</p>

<p>He has been one of the prolific users of the social media app, even before he bought it last October for a whopping $44 billion.</p>

<p>Over the months, he often boasted about how the number of users coming to X and consuming content increased.</p>

<p>However, recent data collected by third-party researcher Travis Brown has given some reality check,&nbsp;suggesting that the picture isn’t as rosy as depicted by Musk.</p>

<p>The data, which was reviewed by Mashable, shows that around 42 per cent of Musk’s own followers, or 65.3 million accounts, have zero followers on their account, indicating that they may be inactive.</p>

<p>Further, more than 72 per cent, or nearly 112 million, of these users following Musk have less than 10 followers on their account.</p>

<p>And as far as consuming content on the platform is concerned, over 62.5 million of Musk followers have zero tweets.</p>

<p>This includes users who have deleted all of their tweets by the time this data was collected over the past few weeks as well as accounts that have never before tweeted.</p>

<p>More than 100 million Musk followers have less than 10 tweets posted to their accounts.</p>

<h2><strong>Fake accounts?</strong></h2>

<p>Recently, the Tesla CEO claimed that X now has more than 540 million "monthly users".</p>

<p>Another interesting detail that has emerged from the data is exactly when his followers created their accounts.</p>

<p>Musk completed his acquisition of Twitter on October 27, 2022. Out of all of Musk's current followers, more than 25 per cent, or 38.9 million, were created on or after that date.</p>

<p>The average number of followers for all 153 million accounts following Musk is just around 187. However, Brown tells Mashable that the follower "distributions are so skewed" that the averages aren't "very meaningful" here.</p>

<p>The data has further shown how many of Musk’s followers subscribe to X Premium, previously known as Twitter Blue that was re-launched with a price tag of $8 a month.</p>

<p>Only around 453,000 Musk followers or 0.3 percent subscribe to X Premium, the data shows.</p>

<p>Earlier this week, Mashable reported earlier that there were around 830,000 X Premium subscribers in total based on another data set compiled by Brown.</p>

<p>In the month of July, X announced that TweetDeck, which is a popular application that allows users to access and monitor multiple accounts at a single time, would be available to only "verified" account holders from the month of August.</p>

<p>The popular social media firm, which was taken over by billionaire Elon Musk in the year 2022, has been announcing new ways to make profits. After he bought Twitter, now known as X, Musk went on a massive layoff spree to cut down expenses and also increased its paid subscription fee.</p>

<p>Last week, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Linda Yaccarino said that the organisation was "close" to breaking even and would strengthen staffing that had been slashed by Musk.</p>

<p>The verified users of platform X are mostly the ones that have paid to receive the blue checkmark, though Musk has gifted the verification symbol to some.</p>

According to a report by Engadget on Thursday (August 17), app researcher Nima Owji shared a screenshot on X which showed that the platform is working on an additional verification feature that requires users to upload a copy of their government-issued ID and snap a selfie.</p>

<p>"X keeps working on the ID verification. You should upload a photo of your ID and take a live selfie," Owji said late Thursday. He had first spotted an “ID-verified” badge on Musk’s profile earlier in August. “Verify your account by providing government-issued ID,” the X description reads. “This usually takes about 5 minutes,” it adds.</p>

<p>The Engadget report on Thursday said it seemed that X is partnering with a third-party “identity intelligence” company Au10tix on the feature.</p>

<p>The fine print notes that information shared for verification will be seen by Au10tix as well as X, the report said.</p>

<p>X will keep “ID images, including biometric data, for up to 30 days,” and will use information “for the purposes of safety and security, including preventing impersonation.”</p>

<p>Last month, the firm tried to remove this sign, but the efforts were temporarily halted by the city's authorities.</p>

Elon Musk puts up Twitter memorabilia  for auction

<p>Elon Musk announced that his social media platform X, which was earlier named Twitter, will clear all the legal bills and file cases on behalf of the users who are being treated unfairly by their employers because of liking or posting something on the site.<br />

"If you were unfairly treated by your employer due to posting or liking something on this platform, we will fund your legal bill," said Musk, in a post on X late on Saturday (August 5), further stating that no limits will be placed on funding the bills.<br />

"And we won't just sue, it will be extremely loud and we will go after the boards of directors of the companies too," Musk stated later while responding to a post about nothing changing behaviour faster than a fear of legal action in the US.</p>
