The Space on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) had Elon Musk as well as notorious conspiracy theorist Alex Jones tuning in. Alex Jones and his 'Infowars' were suspended by Twitter in 2018. Musk reinstated Jones' presence on the platform recently and was talking about the decision during the Space when Ramaswamy said, “Gentlemen I have to go."

So far so good.

But as the conversation went on, listeners suddenly heard sound of running water through Ramaswamy's phone.

Billionaire Elon Musk has gone after Bob Iger once again, saying the Disney boss should be "fired immediately" after the company stopped advertising on X, adding that Walt Disney would have been "rolling in his grave".&nbsp;

In a series of posts on X (formerly known as Twitter), Musk lashed out at Iger over his management of Disney.&nbsp;

“Walt Disney is turning in his grave over what Bob has done to his company. He [Iger] should be fired immediately,” wrote Musk.&nbsp;

Musk also quote-posted a report that said the state of New Mexico had&nbsp;brought a fresh lawsuit accusing Meta platforms Instagram and Facebook of allowing child predators to approach the minors freely after the algorithm distributed adult content to the kids.&nbsp;

Musk's rant against Iger comes days after the Tesla boss, during a public programme, went on a profanity-laden tirade against the advertisers who had pulled their ads from X.&nbsp;

“Don’t advertise. If someone is going to try and blackmail me with advertising? Blackmail me with money? Go f**k&nbsp;yourself,” Musk said. “Go f**k&nbsp;yourself, is that clear? Hey Bob, if you’re in the audience. That’s how I feel, don’t advertise,"&nbsp;Musk said&nbsp;at&nbsp;The New York Times&nbsp;Dealbook Summit.&nbsp;

Musk was responding after Iger, during one of the earlier sessions, explained his company's decision to pull advertising from the platform.&nbsp;

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo on Monday announced that she was quitting Elon Musk's social media platform X, (formerly known as Twitter). Describing X as a "gigantic global sewer" and a tool to disrupt democracy, she said she has made the decision to leave the popular social media platform.

<h2>'A weapon of mass destruction'</h2>

In an op-ed in the French newspaper Le Monde Hidalgo wrote, "I've made the decision to leave X".&nbsp;She chalked the decision up to the X's alleged promotion of "misinformation", "antisemitism and racism."

"X has in recent years become a weapon of mass destruction of our democracies,"&nbsp;wrote Hidalgo, as quoted by AFP.

In a lengthy post on X, Hidalgo cited "manipulation, disinformation, the fostering of hatred, harassment, anti-Semitism and open racism, or vicious attacks on scientists, climatologists, women, environmentalists, liberals and all those of good will who wish to engage in peaceful political debate in an increasingly complex world."

"This platform and its owner intentionally exacerbates tensions and conflicts," she alleged, adding, "We should not allow the 'engineers of chaos' to seize control of our destinies."

<h2>Mass exodus?</h2>

As per the 64-year-old Socialist, she was "one of the first French women in politics to join this network, which today counts a community of over 1,500,000 subscribers worldwide."

Hidalgo, who unsuccessfully stood for the French presidency in 2022, joined Twitter (as it was known back then) in 2009.

A group of 27 lawmakers wrote a letter to Musk and X chief executive Linda Yaccarino, expressing concerns citing reports from nonprofit organizations that showcased people with X Premium accounts "glorifying barbaric acts of violence against Israelis."

"These reports demonstrated that X is profiting from the spread of this gruesome and harmful propaganda through account subscription fees and ad revenue," the lawmakers wrote, adding that much of the offensive content remained live despite being flagged by researchers. &nbsp;

The lawmakers further said that X earned profit from the posts both from subscription fees as well as ads displayed in replies to both Premium and regular posts.

"X has financially benefited from the spread of demonstrably false and misleading content as well," the lawmakers wrote.

They also noted that since the US had designated Hamas as a terrorist organization in 1997, it was illegal to intentionally provide material support or resources to the group.

“Media Matters knowingly and maliciously manufactured side-by-side images depicting advertisers' posts on X Corp.’s social media platform beside Neo-Nazi and white-nationalist fringe content and then portrayed these manufactured images as if they were what typical X users experience,” said the company&nbsp;in its lawsuit.&nbsp;

X has sought unspecified cash damages and to take down the report.&nbsp;

<h2>A ‘frivolous’ lawsuit</h2>

President of Media Matters, Angelo Carusone called the lawsuit “frivolous” in an emailed statement, as per Reuters, and said it was “meant to bully X’s critics into silence”. However, the media watchdog “stands behind its reporting and looks forward to winning in court,” he added.&nbsp;

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, on Monday (Nov 20) said that his office was opening an investigation into Media Matters and that he was “extremely troubled” by the allegations.&nbsp;

The report prompted high-profile companies, including Apple, Comcast, NBCUniversal and IBM to pause their advertising on X&nbsp;last week after it showed that their ads were displayed with pro-Nazi content.

Musk recently came under fire after he replied to an antisemitic&nbsp;post on the platform saying, “You have said the actual truth.”&nbsp;

The post was seen as a reference to a longtime false conspiracy theory which claims that Jewish people have a secret plan to bring illegal immigrants into the US and move demographics away from a White majority.

The White House later confirmed that they have also launched Threads accounts for First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, her husband Douglas Emhoff and the White House itself in English and Spanish.

“Deep down in the permafrost, there must be microbes – especially viruses but also bacteria – that were on Earth long before Homo sapiens existed.”

"There is a lot we don't know, and what very few people have looked into is the permafrost," Evengård added.

The concerns about ancient virus resurfacing were first raised when a group of French and Russian researchers reactivated a giant virus in 2014 that had laid dormant under the Siberian permafrost for 30,000 years

There had been rumours about Musk planning to usher in such a programme in the ensuing days post his acquisition of Twitter, which he later renamed&nbsp;X, in November last year.

He, on his social media handle, had shared in November 2022 that a “vast number” of handles had been taken by “bots and trolls” which he planned to begin “freeing up next month.”&nbsp;

By January 2023, Musk was reportedly working on plans to free up as many as 1.5 billion usernames.

In the month of May, the social media site began to purge such defunct accounts.

On Friday evening, X’s username registration policy still stated, “Unfortunately, we cannot release inactive usernames at this time,” said the Forbes report.

The report by New York Times cited documents detailing the latest stock grants, wherein X disclosed that equity would be extended at $45 per share in the form of restricted stock units, enabling employees to earn these shares over time.&nbsp;

The company has also confirmed that employees will still receive cash equivalent to the original acquisition price of $54.20 per share, pertaining to shares granted under the previous management.&nbsp;

It remains unclear why X's share price has not mirrored the same percentage decrease as the company's overall valuation. It is possible that X adjusted the number of shares available.&nbsp;

And the &nbsp;senator’s party-one of the biggest and most established in Pakistan, and a big part of the previous ruling coalition-should condemn it," Kugelman wrote.&nbsp;

"This is what (is) emboldening anti-Jewish sentiments gets the world. A Pakistan senator posted this. Words matter. What's seen on the streets in the West has repercussions across the world," wrote another user on X.

"This is coming from a senator from Pakistan’s ruling party. Absolutely vile. He may not face any repercussions for this in Pakistan but X must delete the tweet and suspend his account," wrote a third user.

While Adolf Hitler did not invent the hatred of Jews, he went on to capitalise on antisemitic ideas that had been around for a long time.

Musk defended these changes in the name of free speech, but they raised concerns about the platform's content quality.

To generate revenue from subscriptions, Musk started charging for features that were originally free on Twitter, such as the blue tick marks meant for authentication.
