What is Home Rule Act?
Home Rule is a system of government that allows local governments to control their affairs without needing the approval or permission of the state government. The authority is typically extended in each state's constitution. The extent of the authority is different in every state. Some states give overall home rule authority, and others use Dillon's Rule, a principle of municipal law that restricts the powers of local governments to those specifically extended by the state. A home rule charter is a municipal legal document utilised to establish the organisation, powers, functions, and procedures of local governments. A municipality that is operating under such a charter is referred to as a home rule municipality. Those governed by state law are general law cities. Home rule statutes authorise municipalities to enact home rule charters, which give them substantial independence in local affairs. Dillon's Rule statutes confine the powers of local governments to those specifically authorized by the state legislature. Some states use both principles in combination.
Limitations and challenges of Home Rule
Along with state constraints on local governments, numerous local governments are beset with fiscal and managerial problems. Few revenue-raising options may compel a local government to rely on extra funding from the state, and the state will usually have requirements that the local government needs to adhere to in order to qualify for funding. A challenge can be initiated if a local municipality passes legislation contrary to the state or federal legislation. State law preempts and even voids local ordinances. A local municipality, for instance, cannot enact conflicting legislation regarding minimum wage, environmental protection, or public health regulations. Conflicting rules can lead to a protracted court battle. If the court finds that the local law contradicts the state law, the court can then require the municipality to rescind it. The largest advantage of home rule is the empowerment of the local community. Members of the council belong to the local community and are in a position to understand what the local community most needs. They are able to exercise powers granted to them to implement policies that capture the local values, demographics, and economic reality. Members of the community are motivated and encouraged to take part in governance since they feel a sense of ownership and accountability. The home rule authority isn't infallible, however. Varying regulations throughout municipalities may cause confusion and make it more difficult to plan for regions. Political subdivisions that are situated next to one another can have greatly varying regulations. Local governments might not have the resources or experience to efficiently operate certain functions, resulting in inefficiencies.

Hour ahead of his press conference, Trump said on his Truth social that DC “will be LIBERATED today”. “Washington, D.C. will be LIBERATED today! Crime, Savagery, Filth, and Scum will DISAPPEAR. I will, MAKE OUR CAPITAL GREAT AGAIN! The days of ruthlessly killing, or hurting, innocent people, are OVER! I quickly fixed the Border (ZERO ILLEGALS in last 3 months!), D.C. is next!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT,” he said.

Trump highlights alarming crime rate in DC
Showing several charts, Trump revealed that the crime rate in DC is worse than a number of cities across the world, including Baghdad, Brasília, Panama City, and Bogotá. “Our capital city has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged out maniacs, and homeless people, and we’re not going to let it happen any more.”

US President Trump cites alarming crime stats in D.C.: “The murder rate in Washington today is higher than that of Bogotá, Colombia… Car thefts have doubled in five years, and carjackings have more than tripled.” #WashingtonDC #CrimeStats #POTUS pic.twitter.com/s4p1gOZZri— WION (@WIONews) August 11, 2025

Trump also declared a “public safety emergency” in the capital despite the violent crime rate hitting its lowest in 30 years in 2024, according to the Justice Department. He further vowed to “get rid of the slums” in the nation’s capital, saying, “We have slums here. We’re getting rid of them. I know it’s not politically correct. You’ll say, ‘oh, so terrible’”. Trump also vowed to get rid of homeless people across the city. “We’re getting rid of the people from underpasses and public spaces from all over the city,” he said. “We’re going to help them as much as you can help, but they’ll not be allowed to turn our capital into a wasteland.”

Trump added that he is deploying the National Guard to help “reestablish law and order”.

US President Donald Trump is considering imposing tariffs on China over the purchase of oil from Russia, Vice President JD Vance said on Sunday (Aug 10). He added that the president has “not made any firm decisions” yet. Last week, the White House announced doubling levies on India, citing the same reason, imposing a 50 per cent tariff rate. “Well, the President said he’s thinking about it, but he hasn’t made any firm decisions,” Vance told Fox News during an interview on Sunday. Vance made the remarks after he was questioned whether Trump would impose significant tariffs on China, like he did on India, for buying Russian oil. The vice president said that the China issue is more complicated because of their relationship with the country, adding that “it affects a lot of other things that have nothing to do with the Russian situation.” Vance stated that Trump is “reviewing his options, and of course, going to make that decision when he decides.” Trump had initially announced 25 per cent reciprocal tariffs on India. However, last week he imposed an additional 25 per cent trade duties on New Delhi, citing Russian oil purchase. The additional tariff rates are set to come into effect from August 27. India has called the moves taken by the US “unfair, unjustified, and unreasonable”. It added that “India will take all actions necessary to protect its national interests.”
Russia and Ukraine peace talks
Vance also said that ceasefire negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are unlikely to satisfy either side. He further added that any peace deal will likely leave both Moscow and Kyiv “unhappy.” His remarks come ahead of the meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. “It’s not going to make anybody super happy. Both the Russians and the Ukrainians, probably, at the end of the day, are going to be unhappy with it,” Vance said. The US president and his Russian counterpart are set to meet on August 15 in Alaska to discuss ceasefire in Ukraine to end the war that is currently in its fourth.

When asked whether after India, Trump is considering imposing tariffs on China over its Russian oil purchase, Vance said that the US president is considering it.

In an indirect jibe at United States President Donald Trump, Indian minister Nitin Gadkari has termed his tariff action on India as 'dadagiri.' The Hindi term 'dadagiri' roughly translates to 'big brother tactics' in English. Gadkari said that nations that are economically strong are indulging in bullying tactics while highlighting the need to reduce India's imports and increase exports. He also said that if India has resources and technology, it won't bully other countries because that is not what Indian culture teaches. Meanwhile, Union Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh, taunted the US president, saying 'some bosses' are unhappy with India's growth. Speaking at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) in Nagpur, Gadkari said, "If the rate of our exports and economy increases, then I don't think we will need to go to anyone. Those who are indulging in `dadagiri' are doing so because they are economically strong, and they have technology. If we get better technology and resources, we will not bully anyone, because our culture teaches us that the welfare of the world is most important." Meanwhile, the Defence Minister on Sunday said, "They think that we are everyone's boss, and how is India moving forward so fast?"
Tariff, Trump and PM Modi's remark
The comments by the top Indian ministers came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi clearly stated that the country won't compromise with the agriculture and dairy sectors, and he is ready to pay a price to safeguard the interests of the farmers. Without taking Trump's name, PM Modi hinted about India's stance in trade talks with the US. Meanwhile, US President Trump ruled out any possibility of talks with India until the issues are solved. He did not clarify what issues he meant in his statement, but it seems he was talking about India's trading relations with Russia. The US imposed a 25 per cent tariff on India on Aug 1 after both countries failed to strike a trade deal. Days later, Trump imposed an additional 25 per cent as punishment due to India's purchase of oil from Russia. He also warned of a 'penalty' on BRICS countries and countries continuing trade with Russia.

US President Donald Trump is set to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday (August 15), and they chose Alaska as their place of choice for their business, and it is anything but random. From 1737 until 1867, Alaska was part of the Russian Empire, separated from the rest of Russia yet sharing a border with another country. White House considering inviting Zelensky to Trump-Putin meet in Alaska - Here's what we know

An early visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the White House had sparked months of talks between India and the United States. By July, Indian officials believed a deal had been finalised and was only awaiting President Donald Trump’s approval. But that approval never arrived. Instead, Trump announced steep tariffs, a 25% duty on Indian goods, followed by another 25% aimed at discouraging India from buying Russian oil. The combined 50% tariff has dealt a blow to relations between the two countries. Also read: Zelensky rejects 'land swap' proposal ahead of Trump-Putin meeting
Tariffs derail trade hopes
The collapse of the talks reflected Trump’s dissatisfaction with India’s tariff cuts. While New Delhi had agreed to reduce many barriers, it stopped short of the near-zero rates offered by countries like Indonesia. A US official said the Indian offer was “totally insufficient” compared with other deals Trump had secured.Mukesh Aghi, head of the US–India Strategic Partnership Forum, told POLITICO, “We are in a situation now where he is completely upset with India, and the 25 years of effort to build a relationship seems to be going down in 25 hours.”
Shifting focus to Europe
In mid-July, Trump had said a deal with India was close, but his attention quickly moved to talks with the European Union. Negotiations with India stalled, despite expectations in New Delhi that a leader-to-leader conversation could finalise the agreement. Modi, wary of being publicly criticised, avoided such a call. US officials noted that agreements with Japan and South Korea had been reached without direct talks between leaders.
Russian oil at the centre of tensions
The situation escalated when Trump targeted India with an extra 25% tariff over its continued purchase of Russian oil. India bought $52.7 billion worth of Russian oil last year, refining some for sale to Europe. New Delhi insists these imports are essential for its energy security and objects to being singled out when other countries, including the EU and Turkey, also buy Russian energy.Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, said it was, “extremely unfortunate that the US should choose to impose additional tariffs on India for actions that several other countries are also taking in their own national interest.”
Talks still on the table
Trump has hinted that other nations could soon face similar measures, saying, “You’re going to see a lot more.” Despite the tensions, discussions continue. A breakthrough before the 27 August deadline could prevent the tariffs from taking full effect. Aghi noted that Trump has avoided criticising Modi directly, suggesting the White House is keeping channels open.

US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently had a phone conversation where they discussed the situation of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. A report came on Thursday (August 7) claiming that the American president shouted at Netanyahu for his stance on the aid to the strip. NBC News cited senior US officials saying that during the call, which was made on July 28, as claimed by Netanyahu, the Israeli PM denied that there was any starvation in Gaza. Trump YELLED at Netanyahu over Gaza starvation on call? Here's what we know

US President Donald Trump has nominated Stephen Miran, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA), to temporarily fill a vacant seat on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. This appointment comes in the wake of Governor Adriana Kugler’s sudden resignation and will last until January 31, 2026. Miran, a vocal advocate for Trump’s economic policies, will step into the role as the White House searches for a permanent nominee.
Miran’s economic influence and Fed criticism
Miran, who holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University, has played a pivotal role in shaping Trump’s economic strategy, particularly the administration’s controversial tariffs and tax cuts. He has long argued that the combination of these measures will stimulate growth while addressing budget deficits. Additionally, Miran has been critical of the Federal Reserve’s actions, especially its stimulus efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic. He believes the central bank should be more responsive to the president’s economic agenda.Trump praised Miran’s expertise in a post on Truth Social, calling him “unparalleled” in the field of economics. “He has been with me from the beginning of my second term, and his expertise in the world of economics is unparalleled. He will do an outstanding job,” Trump stated. While Miran is being appointed to fill Kugler's seat, the president has indicated he may nominate a different candidate for the full 14-year term.
Potential tension over Fed independence
Miran’s nomination is likely to fuel concerns about the politicisation of the Federal Reserve. Traditionally, the Fed has maintained its independence from political influence, but Trump has expressed his desire to appoint officials who will lower interest rates and pursue monetary policies more aligned with his administration’s goals. This includes his aim to reduce the government’s substantial debt burden and boost economic growth.Miran’s appointment could offer Trump more direct control over Fed policies, including interest rate decisions, which are central to the economic recovery. While Miran's term is temporary, the impact of his presence on the Board, especially as a potential critic of current Chair Jerome Powell, could be significant.
Senate approval and future appointments
Miran’s nomination still requires Senate confirmation, a process that will likely begin when Congress reconvenes in early September. Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott (R-SC) has already expressed support for Miran, calling him an “accomplished economist” who would bring greater “transparency and accountability” to the Fed. However, top Democrats, including Senator Elizabeth Warren, have signalled they will question Miran’s independence, particularly given his close ties to Trump. The confirmation process promises to be a contentious one, with critics concerned about undermining the Fed’s ability to make decisions free from political pressure. (With inputs from agencies)

A federal judge has ordered a temporary halt to construction work at a controversial detention centre in Florida’s Everglades, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz”, over concerns it could be damaging the fragile ecosystem. US District Judge Kathleen Williams ruled on Thursday that all new development at the site must stop for at least 14 days while court hearings continue. She said the plaintiffs, who include several environmental groups, had shown enough evidence of “ongoing environmental harms” to justify the pause.“I think that evidence is sufficient to support the plaintiffs’ claims,” said Judge Williams, an Obama-era appointee. Without naming Donald Trump, Xu Feihong took a veiled jibe at the US President. "Give the bully an inch, he will take a mile," the Chinese envoy to India wrote on X. Xu Feihong also quoted Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as saying: “Using tariffs as a weapon to suppress other countries violates the UN Charter, undermines WTO rules and is both unpopular and unsustainable.” Donald Trump this month announced two tranches of 25 per cent tariffs on Indian exports to the US over New Delhi's purchase of Russian oil and weapons. India called the tariffs unfortunate and questioned the US for sparing other countries with similar Russian energy imports. The Chinese envoy's remarks came hours after Donald Trump threatened China with tariffs for buying Russian energy exports. China is the biggest importer of Russian oil. "It may happen, I don't know, I can't tell you yet, we did it with India, and we are doing it probably with a couple of others, one of them could be China," Donald Trump said in the White House. A planned summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin may not go ahead after the Russian president refused to meet Ukraine’s leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, a potential condition for the US-Russia talks.
Mixed signals from both sides as summit talks stall
On Thursday, conflicting statements from Washington and Moscow suggested deep confusion over the planned summit. While the Kremlin claimed talks were progressing for a bilateral Trump-Putin meeting next week, Putin dismissed the idea of a meeting with Zelensky. “I have nothing against it in general,” Putin said, “but certain conditions must be created for this… we are still far from creating such conditions.”Also read: 'War must end': Ukraine’s Zelensky calls for ‘lasting peace’ after call with Trump
White House wants Putin to meet Zelensky first
Following a Kremlin meeting with Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, Washington indicated that Trump would only sit down with Putin if the Russian president agreed to meet Zelensky, something Putin has long resisted. A White House official told The New York Post that Trump’s condition for talks was a meeting with Zelensky. While new tariffs were imposed on India over its purchase of Russian oil, Trump seemed pleased with Witkoff’s visit. Ushakov described the discussions as “businesslike” and hinted at a future of closer ties between the US and Russia. “Russian-US relations could be based on a completely different, mutually advantageous scenario,” Ushakov said.
Will the Trump-Putin summit still happen?
Trump told reporters the summit could happen “very soon.” However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was more cautious: “Obviously, a lot has to happen before that can occur.” If the meeting does go ahead, it would be the first US-Russia leaders’ summit since Joe Biden met Putin in Geneva back in 2021.

US President Donald Trump has said he is ordering a “new and highly accurate CENSUS” that would exclude undocumented immigrants. In a post on Truth Social, he wrote, “People who are in our country illegally will NOT BE COUNTED IN THE CENSUS.” He added that the new count would be based on “information gained from the Presidential Election of 2024.” This proposal marks a major departure from the traditional census, which is constitutionally required to count everyone living in the United States, citizen or not, every 10 years. Also read: '$50,000 bonuses, loan forgiveness': US drops age cap for ICE hires in biggest recruitment drive in history - Teens to join Trump's deportation push?
Why is the census important?
Census data is used to determine how many seats each state receives in the House of Representatives, a process known as apportionment. The numbers also help allocate billions in government funding. Trying to exclude undocumented immigrants from the count could change how resources and political representation are distributed. A 2020 Pew Research Center report suggested that such a move could cost states like California and Texas seats in Congress.
Can Trump legally do this?
Experts say any attempt to run a mid-decade census would face serious legal and logistical issues. A full census has never been held outside the usual 10-year cycle, and planning for the 2030 census is already under way.The Supreme Court previously blocked Trump’s effort to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census, saying it did not follow proper procedures. The law also requires census questions to be approved by Congress at least two years in advance. It’s still unclear whether Trump wants to run a new census or simply change how apportionment totals are calculated. Either move would likely face court challenges.
What happened during the last census?
The 2020 census was conducted mostly under Trump’s first term, but was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It was completed and released in early 2021, after President Biden took office. That delay stopped Trump from removing undocumented immigrants from the apportionment count at the time. The Census Bureau later said it had likely undercounted Black people, Hispanics and Native Americans, while white and Asian people may have been overcounted.
Who supports the idea?
Some Republicans back the move. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has claimed the 2020 count was flawed and urged Trump to push for a new one. Trump has also called for Republican states to redraw their district maps to ensure control of the House, saying his party is “entitled” to the seats. Democrats, meanwhile, have vowed to fight back.
What’s happening at the Census Bureau?
The former Census Bureau Director, Robert Santos stepped down earlier this year. Appointed by Biden, he left midway through his term, citing family reasons. His departure gives Trump a chance to appoint a new leader to the agency. So far, no replacement has been named. Even if Trump waits for the 2030 census, he could still influence how it’s conducted. Under federal law, the questions must be sent to Congress two years in advance, well before the end of Trump’s possible second term in 2029.

Trump proposes a new census excluding undocumented immigrants, diverging from constitutional norms. This could impact House seat apportionment and federal funding, potentially reducing representation for states like California and Texas.

Is Trump using pressure tactic on India? US doubles tariffs to 50% ahead of trade talks on August 25

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has warned that US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods could severely hurt India’s exports to the American market. “I don’t think that’s particularly good news for us, and that takes our total tariffs to 50 per cent. Then that’s going to make our goods unaffordable to a lot of people in America,” Tharoor told reporters on Thursday. Also read: India reacts to Donald Trump's additional 25 per cent tariff: 'Unreasonable'
Competitors could gain from India’s loss
Tharoor cautioned that higher duties would make Indian products less competitive compared to other Asian exporters. “In particular, when you’re looking at these percentages, you have to compare them with the tariffs being levied on some of our competitors. I’m afraid that if you look at people like Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, even Bangladesh and Pakistan have lower tariffs than us. Then ultimately, people will not be buying goods from us in America if they can buy them cheaper elsewhere. So that’s not very good for our exports to America,” he said.
Push to diversify export markets
The Congress MP urged India to urgently expand its trade partnerships beyond the US. “This means we need to very seriously diversify to other countries and other markets that may be interested in what we have to offer. We now have an FTA with the UK. We are talking to the EU. There are many countries in which hopefully we would be able to, but in the short term, it is definitely a blow,” Tharoor added.
New Delhi calls tariffs ‘unfair and unreasonable’
India’s Ministry of External Affairs condemned the new tariffs, calling them “unfair, unjustified and unreasonable.” “We have already made clear our position on these issues, including the fact that our imports are based on market factors and done with the overall objective of ensuring the energy security of 1.4 billion people of India,” the MEA said in a statement. “It is therefore extremely unfortunate that the US should choose to impose additional tariffs on India for actions that several other countries are also taking in their own national interest,” it added.
Tariffs linked to Russia trade and BRICS membership
The fresh duties come on top of a 25% tariff introduced on 1 August, with the new levy to take effect 21 days later. The combined 50% rate will apply to most Indian goods, except a small exemption list. Trump said the penalties were linked to India’s continued imports of Russian oil and military products, as well as its participation in the BRICS bloc, which he described as “anti-American.” The move is part of Washington’s wider pressure campaign on Moscow to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Reacting to Donald Trump's additional tariff on India, New Delhi said on Wednesday that the US action was “unfair, unjustified, and unreasonable” and that it will take actions necessary to safeguard its national interests. "It is extremely unfortunate that the US chose to impose additional tariffs on India for actions that several other countries are also taking in their national interest. We reiterate that these actions are unfair, unjustified, and unreasonable. India will take all actions necessary to protect its national interests," said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. Donald Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order levying an additional 25 per cent tariff on Indian exports for continuing to buy Russian energy products despite his earlier 25 per cent tariff. "The United States has in recent days targeted India’s oil imports from Russia. We have already made clear our position on these issues, including the fact that our imports are based on market factors and done with the overall objective of ensuring the energy security of 1.4 billion people of India," the Indian statement added. According to the order issued by the White House, Donald Trump cited matters of national security and foreign policy concerns, as well as other relevant trade laws, for the increase, claiming that India's imports of Russian oil, directly or indirectly, pose an "unusual and extraordinary threat" to the United States. With this, the total tariff on Indian goods will add up to 50 per cent. The initial tariff will be implemented from August 7; the additional levy will come into effect after 21 days. The Executive Order also allows modifications based on changing circumstances, including potential retaliation by other countries or steps taken by Russia or India.

India reacts to Donald Trump's additional 25 per cent tariff: 'Unreasonable, unjustified'

The Trump administration is aiming to simplify the use of drones for commercial purposes, ranging from delivering coffee to inspecting infrastructure and supporting agricultural activities. A new proposal was announced on Tuesday by the Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy, outlining how businesses could gain approval to operate drones in US airspace and the regulations they would have to follow. Previously, companies seeking to fly drones beyond the operator's visual line of sight had to apply for a waiver or exemption, which was awarded on a case-by-case basis, Duffy said. "And because of that complication, I don't think we saw the innovation that we should have in America," he added. This move follows an executive order signed by President Trump two months ago, intended to speed up the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by businesses in the United States. The announcement of Duffy was welcomed by drone industry stakeholders, saying that advancements in drone technology have surpassed the ability of the government to regulate the aircraft. "Drone operators must navigate a labyrinth of ill-suited regulations designed for crude aircraft, placing an artificial ceiling on innovation and hampering progress," CEO of the Commercial Drone Alliance, Lisa Ellman, said. "In the meantime, we've seen our global peers and adversaries surge ahead in the deployment of commercial drone technology," she added, NPR reported.
Complex and restrictive processes vs growth
Earlier, businesses had to request individual waivers or exemptions for those who were seeking to fly drones beyond the operator’s visual line of sight. In response, Duffy noted that complex and restrictive processes were hampering innovation in the country. In an emailed statement, the Air Line Pilots Association told NPR that in order to ensure that emerging technologies and drone operations do not compromise aviation safety, it is committed to working with the Department of Transportation. The group added that "recent tragic events have underscored the critical importance of maintaining rigorous safety standards in our increasingly complex airspace, and we will continue advocating for policies that require all airspace users to operate with adequate surveillance, communication, and collision avoidance capabilities."

After Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced the order, drone industry stakeholders welcomed this move, saying that advancements in drone technology have surpassed the ability of the government to regulate the aircraft.

US President Donald Trump lashed out at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) just days after the company named a new chief executive and embarked on a divisive rebrand. Posting on Truth Social on Monday (August 4), Trump said the UK carmaker was in “absolute turmoil” and accused its outgoing boss of leaving “in disgrace.” He also dismissed its recent marketing campaign as “stupid” and “woke.” The comments came shortly after JLR announced PB Balaji, finance chief of parent company Tata Motors, will take over as chief executive in November—becoming the company’s first Indian CEO. Balaji will succeed Adrian Mardell, who last week announced his retirement after 35 years with the firm. Mardell oversaw JLR’s strongest profits in a decade but also pushed through controversial changes, including dropping Jaguar’s iconic leaping cat logo and pivoting towards electric vehicles. JLR insists his retirement was long-planned and unrelated to the backlash. Trump on his Truth Social posted, “Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the “HOTTEST” ad out there. It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are “flying off the shelves.” Go get ‘em Sydney! On the other side of the ledger, Jaguar did a stupid, and seriously WOKE advertisement, THAT IS A TOTAL DISASTER! The CEO just resigned in disgrace, and the company is in absolute turmoil. Who wants to buy a Jaguar after looking at that disgraceful ad. Shouldn’t they have learned a lesson from Bud Lite, which went Woke and essentially destroyed, in a short campaign, the Company. The market cap destruction has been unprecedented, with BILLIONS OF DOLLARS SO FOOLISHLY LOST. Or just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT. The tide has seriously turned — Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump contrasted Jaguar’s campaign—featuring brightly dressed models in a hot-pink desert setting with no cars or logos in sight—with American Eagle’s recent jeans adverts starring Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney. Calling the latter the “‘hottest’ ad out there,” Trump praised Sweeney and derided Jaguar’s approach as “a total disaster,” adding: “Who wants to buy a Jaguar after looking at that disgraceful ad?” Jaguar’s rebrand and concept for its upcoming all-electric “Type 00” model, due in 2026, have divided opinion. Some hailed the design as “absolutely stunning,” while others branded it “rubbish.” The company is also contending with US tariff policies under the Trump administration and, in July, announced 500 UK management job cuts. Balaji will take the helm during a critical period as JLR prepares to launch its first all-electric range and seeks to win back sceptical customers.
