<p>UK’s National Trust has uncovered a ‘devil-like figure’ in a 230-year-old painting made by 18th Century artist Joshua Reynolds, who died in 1792.</p>

<p>The discovery was made during restoration work. The ‘spirit’ was hidden behind layers of paint and varnish.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The painting depicts a death scene from Shakespeare's "Henry VI, Part 2" with the king witnessing the death of Cardinal Beaufort.</p>

<h2><strong>Why was the ‘spirit’ kept hidden?</strong></h2>

<p>According to John Chu, the Trust’s senior national curator for pictures and sculpture, it might not have been considered appropriate to represent a poetic figure of speech so literally in the form of this monstrous figure at that time.</p>

<p>“While it was considered acceptable in literature to introduce the idea of a demon as something in the mind of a person, to include it visually in a painting gave it too physical a form,” he said.</p>

<p>What do you do with an expired passport? The correct answer is: get it renewed. However, in India's Kerala, an old man was left flabbergasted by how his family used his old passport.</p>

<p>A video of the incident shared on social media platform X has left netizens in splits. It shows an ordinary passport's transformation into something extraordinarily imaginative or ordinary — your choice.</p>

<h2><strong>What happened?</strong></h2>

<p>X user D Prasanth Nath received a video as a WhatsApp forward. The content? Something too funny to not share.</p>

<p>In it, you can see an Indian passport, which at first look, seems like your run-of-the-mill travel document. However, a closer look reveals that it is a treasure trove of contact numbers.</p>

What do you do with an expired passport? The correct answer is: get it renewed. However, in India's Kerala, an old man was left flabbergasted by how his family used his old passport. A video of the incident shared on social media platform X has left netizens in splits. It shows an ordinary passport's transformation into something extraordinarily imaginative or ordinary — your choice. What happened? X user D Prasanth Nath received a video as a WhatsApp forward. The content? Something too funny to not share. In it, you can see an Indian passport, which at first look, seems like your run-of-the-mill travel document. However, a closer look reveals that it is a treasure trove of contact numbers. Indian actor Amit Sadh has been part of many big films and shows in a bunch of critically acclaimed roles that proved his mettle. He has most recently charmed the audience by playing the serious yet intriguing Sammit Patel, a man who comes out of a coma after years in the Zee5 show Duranga. In an exclusive interview with WION, Sadh talked about how he brought the role of Sammit Patel to life, his preparation, and much more. He also shared his views on AI, a technology that has been perceived as a threat to the human race in many different aspects. Sadh also shared the names of two actors he dreams of working with. To find out who they are, read on! Edited excerpts from the chat below. Is that Anushka Sharma trying to hide her baby bump? Watch new video WION: Your character in Duranga 2 looks very interesting, as he's all set to take revenge on Gulshan Devaiah's character. So, what do you love about the role and find interesting in season 2? Amit: For me, Sammit Patel is a character shrouded in mystery and intrigue. He’s a complex individual with hidden motives. He’s also someone you can't put a finger on. Which I think makes him more interesting. He’s been in a coma for 14 years, and how he will wake up, how he moves, his body language, complexity and of course, he wants his identity back. What attracted me towards the show was the script and its unique and very gripping story that immediately caught my attention. It also kind of goes into the dark aspects of human nature, and that complexity appealed to me as an actor. WION: Tell us more about your character Sammit Patel, how did you prepare for the role and what do you think of it? Amit: For the preparation of this role, I had to understand the physicality and emotional depth of this character. One crucial aspect for me was also harnessing the C-shape of the spine, which is fundamental in conveying the character’s emotions and intentions. Like a person, who’s been in a coma for 14 years, how will you walk? how will his spine be? how will his muscles be? Understanding the inner world is when you create it, when you kind of align the physical presence and all this understanding of the emotions. I think this character is so childlike. When he’s angry, he’s angry, when he’s happy he’s happy. For me, it was like creating a physical embodiment that resonates with the audience. Every character has its own psychosis. I’ve never done a character like this, and I also dedicate considerable time to researching real-life cases of individuals with similar traits and then kind of add my imagination of how I think this character would behave. In that, I think I have gone all out, and it’s been a fun journey for me to also understand the emotional journey of this character and this character's motivation, so it’s like a chef will never like talking about his recipe. Watch: Salman Khan's hilarious reaction on learning about Tiger 3's 6 am shows View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amit Sadh (@theamitsadh) × WION: You have played so many roles in your career. Name one character of yours that had a huge impact on you. Amit: I think it’s my character Kabir Sawant in Breathe: Into the Shadows. Also, I played it for three seasons. I was with that character for 7 years, and it gave me a lot of love. It was a tough character. So, that is something. I mean, I still feel that some parts of that character are still in me, and will take time to go. WION: OTT has been a game-changer for many actors, and in recent years, we have gotten many good actors from the medium. Your views on this! Amit: It’s just that in OTT, more movies are coming out, and more web shows coming out. Because the movie business is dominated by distribution aspects, that’s why we can’t make so many movies, and we only have 52 weeks. How many movies do you make? Now because there are so many OTT platforms, you can tell more stories and you’re not worried about distribution. Plus, OTT is under the net, which means you're just not making movies for India, the whole world can watch them, and that means you’re just not making movies for India the whole world can watch and that if you ask me has shrunk the world. It has also brought a lot of inclusivity, a lot of countries understanding each other's cinema, culture, people, and behaviour, and because there’s so much work now, a lot of actors who maybe got ignored or missed because of that distribution pressure got the opportunity. For example, I did a movie on ZEE5 called Barot House, which was a huge hit, and it would have never been made if it was just theatrical. So, it’s of course positive, it’s amazing, life is growing, AI is coming, these all tools are here for more work and more distribution, and I just hope we use them properly and responsibly. WION: When it comes to AI, what do you think of it, especially looking at the actors’ and writers’ strikes in Hollywood? Amit: My only suggestion to everyone is that we really don’t have much knowledge of it. Just because we think that there is a strike in Hollywood, we are all talking about AI; it’s very integrated. We are not that qualified to talk about it. I have trust in humanity, I have trust in human leadership, and I know we’ll all have solidarity, whether it is us actors, associations, or different media in different aspects of life where there is human life, there is human talent and human protection. Yes, the world is growing forward, and yes there is the technology and I am sure I have complete faith in the human race that we will utilise these inventions and marvels of today’s world in the world of tomorrow for the benefit and growth of human beings for the livelihood to be protected and the sanity to be protected, so I am very very confident about that. It’s just that I think it’s a nice conversation, everybody saying that AI is going to mess it up. AI is much more integrated. There is much more in our lives than we know. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amit Sadh (@theamitsadh) × WION: Over the years, you have worked with so many actors. The one actor that inspired you a lot? Amit: Working with Mr Amitabh Bachchan was my dream, and I will always cherish that experience for the rest of my life. If there is any actor that I want to work with right now is Shah Rukh sir. I would like to do a movie with Shah Rukh Khan. I just hope he doesn’t make me a villain in it, because I will not be able to hit him. I would like to do a movie with Mohanlal. I dream in my dreams that I'm acting with him.

Realistically, as we go into 2018, when you look at my slate as we're developing and shooting into 2019 and 2020, the slate goes deep into 2021, so it feels like the realistic consideration would be 2024." However, in 2022, Johnson said that he's not planning to run for president anytime soon. For now, his focus and priority are to be a good father to his kids and spend quality time with them. Speaking to Tracy Smith on CBS Sunday Morning, Johnson said, "It’s off the table. Yes. It is off the table." He continued, "I will say this because it requires a B-side to this. I love our country and everyone in it. I also love being a daddy. And that’s the most important thing to me is being a daddy, number one, especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives." For the unversed, Johnson is the father of three girls: Jasmine Lia, Tiana Gia and Simone Alexandra. "I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years in my first daughter’s…Growing up in this critical age at this critical time in their life, and that’s what the presidency will do. So my number one priority is my daughters. Sure, CEO sounds great. But the number one thing I wanna be is daddy," the actor concluded.

<p>Prince&nbsp;Harry, singer Elton John and five other high-profile British figures can have their lawsuit against the publisher of the Daily Mail newspaper alleging widespread unlawful behaviour heard at trial, the High Court in London ruled on Friday.</p>

<p>Hollywood is no stranger to sequels. But few recent films have come saddled with as much backstory -- on and off the screen -- as<em> The Marvels.</em></p>

<p>The first all-female ensemble movie in Disney's sprawling superhero franchise, out Friday, not only takes place after the events of the 32 previous Marvel films, but also picks up the plot of two television series.</p>

<p>Brie Larson's Carol Danvers, first seen in the film<em> Captain Marvel,</em> is joined by Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, two sidekicks who were introduced to audiences in Disney+ TV spin-offs <em>WandaVision</em>&nbsp;and <em>Ms Marvel.</em></p>

<p>The three women are forced to team up after a glitch results in them involuntarily swapping bodies every time they use their superpowers.</p>

<p>Such complexities are not exactly new to the Marvel movies, but feed into growing fears of audience "superhero fatigue," with one Variety critic describing the challenge of keeping up with the franchise these days as "homework."</p>

<p>Director Nia DaCosta said the challenge of the movie came in striking a balance between exploring the women's backstories, and moving forward to their new, wacky, outer space-hopping adventures.</p>

<p>"We tried to focus on honoring their stories," she said. "Like, what do we need to see in this next stage for all the characters, and how do we balance it out?"&nbsp;</p>

<p>But off the screen too, <em>The Marvels&nbsp;</em>faced an uphill climb.</p>

<p>The movie underwent four weeks of reshoots, and its release was delayed multiple times.</p>

<p>This led to claims that Marvel studio boss Kevin Feige had taken over the reins, with one Variety report even claiming DaCosta had left the film during post-production.</p>

<p>DaCosta has denied those reports, and told AFP that "we" figured out how to balance the film's many story elements while "developing the film" and "going through the process" in post-production.</p>

<p>"Just like any other movie, that perhaps doesn't have TV shows and films that come before it, at the core of the story, it's about three characters coming together and meeting and reconnecting for the first time," said producer Mary Livanos.</p>

<p>"So I think people will be able to follow along and enjoy the experience of the story."</p>

<p>- 'Sisterhood' -</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the long Hollywood actors' strike -- which finally appeared to have been resolved Wednesday -- had prevented stars like Larson and Samuel L. Jackson from promoting the film.</p>

<p>And while Larson's 2019 film <em>Captain Marvel</em>&nbsp;grossed more than $1 billion, it suffered from sexist trolling and "review-bombing" online -- patterns that have sadly been repeated and amplified with<em> The Marvels</em>&nbsp;and its three female leads.</p>

<p>Analysts predict it will make around $60 million at the US box office on its opening weekend, which would be low for a Marvel film.</p>

<p>Still, Livanos pointed out that female-led movies have confounded expectations by dominating the box office this year.</p>

<p>"It's really exciting and feels very serendipitous to be coming out after this incredible summer with 'Barbie,' and Taylor Swift this fall in theaters as well," she said.</p>

<p>Livanos hopes "that this movie can further the momentum that this moment in culture is having."</p>

<p>For DaCosta, the youngest-ever Marvel director -- hired at 30 with a single, acclaimed indie film to her name -- that message rings true.</p>

<p>Her debut "Little Woods" followed two sisters struggling to escape poverty, a criminal past and an unwanted pregnancy, who must reconnect to support each other.</p>

<p>"That's sort of how I saw these three characters... three sisters who have to find themselves -- and find each other," she said.</p>

<p>The Animal Kingdom is full of myriad mating practices, where the males of the species attempt to woo the females. We humans are hairless primates after all, and recent study has shown that our species too, in a matter of speaking, fluff out our feathers and perform a dance for the females.</p>

<p>As per a research article published in The Royal Society, boys in all-male choirs tend to boost their vocals when girls are in the audience.</p>

<h2><strong>Mating call&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Researchers based their observation on a renowned boys' choir group. They noticed that the basses — the oldest boys with the deepest boys — "boosted their acoustic prominence by increasing energy in a high-frequency band of the vocal spectrum when girls were in an otherwise male audience".</p>

<p>The effect, as per the report, was particularly seen in the oldest boys, aged between 16 and 19.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Researchers pose that this behaviour may be similar to that observed in "non-human animals" like flashing fireflies, chorusing crickets and frogs. In such species, the "simultaneous cooperation and competition is manifest in rhythmically coordinated communal displays produced by groups of males to attract female mates," write the researchers.</p>

<p>They further say that such displays "can be a side effect of sexually motivated competition, whereby individual males produce earlier or more intense signals that mask rival signals."</p>

<h2><strong>But do the girls like it?</strong></h2>

<p>Apparently they do. For the purpose of this research, male and female listeners were given recordings of an all-male choir. These recordings were from shows where the audience was all male, and another where female members were in the audience.</p>

<p>Listeners either reported which audio they believed had this mating call behaviour, or which one they preferred. It was found that while male listeners could "eavesdrop" on the behaviour, female listeners were both sensitive to it and also displayed a preference for it.</p>

<p>"It's really subtle and probably something that's subconscious," said Peter Keller, one of the authors behind this research while talking to The Guardian.</p>

<p>"The boys' singing sounds more brilliant and has a more attractive, ringing quality when girls are in the audience, but it is subtle," said Keller, a professor of neuroscience at Aarhus University in Denmark.</p>

<p>Sharing the update on Instagram, Kardashian expressed her&nbsp;gratitude to the medical team that saved her baby's life. She also thanked her husband, Travis Barker, who rushed back home from Blink-182's tour due to an emergency and her mother.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
She wrote on Instagram, "I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life. I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this."</p>

"As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent foetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant."<br />
<br />
"Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing. 🙏🏼🤍."</p>
