The entrepreneur and the world’s richest man appeared on the sketch show, which was live-streamed internationally via YouTube in more than 100 countries. “It’s an honor to be hosting Saturday Night Live, I mean that,” Elon said. “Sometimes after I say something, I have to say I mean that so people really know I mean it. That’s because I’ve always had a lot of intonational variation when I speak, which I’ve been told makes for great comedy.”
“I’m actually making history tonight as the first person with Asperger’s to host SNL. Or at least the first to admit it,” Elon said.

Today, on Mother’s Day many of us must have planned a few things or activities to make our mothers feel extra special. While we are social distancing and staying indoors, watching a show with your mom sounds like a perfect plan. But when it comes to choosing a show to watch, we all know how difficult it is to find that perfect one to binge on.

Mother's Day special: Saluting some powerful reel mothers of Bollywood

Here are the top 5 shows we recommend to binge-watch this Mother’s Day and spend some quality time with her.

What The Folks

'What The Folks' is the story of a young couple and the first time living together experiences with their respective in-laws. The ever-evolving relationships of a family, the changing dynamics between siblings, parents, and even husband and wife are beautifully explored here. It gives a fresh perspective to the mother & daughter-in-law relationship as well. Vandu, played by Renuka Sahane, is a cool mother-in-law who tries her best to help her daughter-in-law shatter some gender bias at home. She also reveals the secret of life and happiness is the ‘I don’t care’ attitude which is the best way to lead a life. Created by Dice Media, the show has had three seasons until now with a total of 16 episodes.

Mom & Co.

'Mom & Co.' is the beautiful story of a single mother, Suhasini Joshi, who has raised her son, Aditya and has reached a phase in her life wherein she is restricted to talking to her diary and penning down her thoughts on paper rather than having a direct conversation about them with her son/well-wisher. The show makes us realise how we have all taken our mothers for granted and the sacrifices they have made for us. It's an emotional roller coaster ride to see the mother and son duo bridge this gap between them. Produced by Zoom Studios, the show takes you on a bittersweet ride of emotions.

Mother's Day special: Famous music star moms and daughters

Aarya

'Aarya' is a show about a drug dealer’s wife who takes on her husband’s business after he suffers a horrible attack. The reins of the job fall in her manicured hands as she struggles through the muck of violence, blackmail, lies and treachery to keep her three kids safe. Aarya is a one-woman show as she displays reserve and fear without spelling them out, keeping the crux unspoken, hinting at the turmoil within. After a thrilling first season, Aarya is coming back with a season2 on Disney + Hotstar.

Gullak

'Gullak' in both its seasons narrates the story of a middle-class family in a small north Indian town, trying to get by within their modest means. They are constantly looking to amp up their living standard, which sometimes leads the men into dodgy zones. The character of mother Shanti, played by Geetanjali Kulkarni makes a wonderful pivot as the wife-and-mother who keeps everything going, nagging everyone with equal energy so that they can come up with their best. The 2 seasons can be binge-watched on TVF Play.

Yeh Meri Family

Mona Singh plays the mother of 3 kids managing the household and the family, who like every mother conceals a soft heart underneath a hardened exterior. One can watch this show on TVF play for a nostalgic experience.

TV Network Channel 4 `s reality hit show `The Circle` will come to an end after three seasons.

According to Variety, a spokesperson for the UK broadcaster told, " `The Circle` has been a huge hit for young audiences and has grown successively over three seasons on Channel 4, consistently outperforming slot averages. We`re incredibly proud to have worked with Studio Lambert North and Motion Content Group to invest in such an innovative show and to have given it a springboard for its international format success."

"In much the same way as when we originally commissioned `The Circle,` Channel 4 has a responsibility to continually look at how we reinvent and create space for new ideas, and so we have decided not to commission the show for a fourth season. We`d like to thank Studio Lambert, Motion and all those involved for `The Circle`s` huge success over the last three series."

As reported by Variety, `The Circle` was launched in 2018 and the innovative show from Studio Lambert and Motion Content Group finds players isolated in apartments, chatting with each other solely through a specially-designed app, with the freedom to present themselves or play as a catfish.

The series launch was heavily marketed by Channel 4, which has a track record for launching hit unscripted shows in the UK. Although it failed to immediately grab audiences, `The Circle` has since gained a dedicated army of fans, particularly with its target demo of young audiences.

The format was picked up by Netflix -- shortly after its debut, which adapted the show in a number of markets, including the US where season 2 wrapped earlier this week. Season 3 has already been commissioned by the streaming giant.

Per Variety, Season 3 of `The Circle` UK, which aired earlier this year in a 10 p.m. slot, was actually up 12 per cent in viewing for individuals over season 2. The audience share for season 3 was also up 43 per cent over the slot average. Meanwhile, further underlining its pull with young audiences, the 28.3 per cent share of 16-24-year-olds was up 89 per cent on the slot average.

Channel 4 has said it`s keen to make room on its schedule for new programs, and will soon be "scoping out new ideas." It`s thought that Netflix UK may also swoop in and pick up the UK version of the show themselves.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) faced major backlash at the Golden Globes over their lack of diversity and ethical issues after it was revealed that there is not a single black person in the community. Following it, the HFPA recently revealed their new plan for incorporating more diversity into the company.
The streamer’s co-CEO, Ted Sarandos, shared a statement declaring that they will not be working with the group until the matter is solved and the group tackles “crucial issues”.

“Like many in our industry, we’ve been waiting for today’s announcement in the hope that you would acknowledge the breadth of issues facing the HFPA and provide a clear roadmap for change,” the streamer’s co-CEO Ted Sarandos wrote in a letter Thursday to the HFPA’s Leadership Committee that Deadline has obtained, as per a report in Deadline.

“Today’s vote is an important first step,” Sarandos noted in Thursday’s letter to HFPA brass. “However, we don’t believe these proposed new policies — particularly around the size and speed of membership growth — will tackle the HFPA’s systemic diversity and inclusion challenges, or the lack of clear standards for how your members should operate.

“So we’re stopping any activities with your organization until more meaningful changes are made.” Netflix dominated this year’s Globe Awards with a total of 42 nominations.

Several reports had claimed in March that Kanye West is the richest Black American.

But fact-checkers have found that not to be the case.

Social media and entertainment sites had picked up reports that the rapper is the richest Black person in the US with an estimated net worth of $6 billion.

The 43-year-old rapper's net worth reportedly increased significantly thanks to his Yeezy sneaker, his brand's tie-up with Adidas and GAP.

The site put his earnings from Yeezy at $1.5 billion, cash and other assets at $160 million, music catalogue at $90 million, and share in his ex Kim Kardashian's shapewear company Skims at $64 million. That doesn't quite add up to $6 bn.

Thousands of people attended the first day of the Wuhan Strawberry Music Festival on Saturday. In warm conditions on the first day of a five-day May Day national holiday revellers in the central Chinese city danced, bounced and screamed with delight as some of their favourite acts took the stage.
The festival was making a return in Wuhan after it was forced to be online only last year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

A representative for the organisers told Reuters that numbers were being restricted this year, adding that around 11,000 people were there on Saturday. Barriers were set up in front of each stage and security personnel restricted numbers in those areas. Some spectators wore masks, but many did not.

People in Wuhan, where COVID-19 first emerged, lived through more than two months of stringent restrictions during the world`s first coronavirus-induced lockdown. Since then the city has been almost completely virus-free, according to official data. That and the general trend in recent months in the country, which has only reported a few sporadic outbreaks, has greatly eased fears in China about the virus.

"Last year we (in Wuhan) suffered from the coronavirus," said 23-year-old student and Wuhan resident Gao Yuchen. "It has not been easy to get to where we are today. People here have put in huge efforts and paid a big price (for being hit with the virus). So I feel very excited to be here (at the festival)," Gao said.

The two-day event brings together well-known and not so well-known domestic singers and bands across three stages in Wuhan`s Garden Expo park. Sister "Strawberry Music Festival" events are being held in other cities, including Beijing, during the national holiday. Attendees came to Wuhan from all over the country, like 29-year-old Zhang Hongkai, from Shijiazhuang in Hebei province.

"This is my first time at an event like this held outdoors," Zhang said. "I really like the atmosphere." Mainland China reported 16 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, down from 13 a day earlier, the country`s national health authority said on Saturday.

All the new cases were imported infections originating overseas, the National Health Commission said in a statement.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in mainland China now stands at 90,671, while the death toll remains unchanged at 4,636, many of whom were Wuhan residents.

China carried out about 11.6 million vaccinations against COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total number administered to more than 265 million, according to data released by the National Health Commission on Saturday.

Olympia Dukakis, who won an Oscar for her performance as a sardonic, middle-aged mother who advises her headstrong daughter on matters of love in the 1987 romantic film comedy 'Moonstruck', died on Saturday at age 89.

Dukakis - a cousin of unsuccessful 1988 Democratic U.S. presidential nominee Michael Dukakis - passed away at her New York City home on Saturday morning after months of failing health, said her agent, Allison Levy. Her daughter, Christina Zorich, was by her side.

The Massachusetts-born daughter of Greek immigrants, Dukakis worked for decades as a stage, TV and film actor before rocketing to fame at age 56 playing the mother of Cher`s character in "Moonstruck."

Dukakis built on that with roles in films including "Look Who`s Talking" (1989) and its sequels with John Travolta and Kirstie Alley, "Steel Magnolias" (1989) with Shirley MacLaine, Sally Field and Julia Roberts, director Woody Allen`s "Mighty Aphrodite" (1995) and "Mr. Holland`s Opus" (1995) with Richard Dreyfuss.

Dukakis, a master of deadpan humor, also was nominated for Emmy awards for TV roles in 1991, 1998 and 1999.
But her most indelible performance came in director Norman Jewison`s "Moonstruck" as Rose Castorini, a Brooklyn woman with a cheating plumber husband (Vincent Gardenia) and a widowed bookkeeper daughter (Cher) who has an affair with her fiance`s opera-buff brother (Nicolas Cage).
Her banter with Cher was among the film`s highlights, including a scene in which Dukakis scolded her daughter during a kitchen dissection of her love life.

"Your life`s going down the toilet," Dukakis said in her throaty voice. At another point, she tells Cher it is good she did not love her fiance. "When you love them, they drive you crazy because they know they can."

'Moonstruck', considered one of Hollywood`s great romantic comedies, won three Academy Awards, including Cher as best actress, and was nominated in three other categories, including best picture. It also was one of the highest-grossing films of 1987.

In accepting her Oscar as best supporting actress in April 1988, when her cousin was battling to become the Democratic Party`s presidential nominee, she thanked Jewison, her husband and a few others.

She then raised the golden statuette over her head and shouted to the worldwide TV audience, "OK, Michael, let`s go."
Michael Dukakis won the nomination but lost badly in the general election to Republican George H.W. Bush. Olympia Dukakis embraced liberal views like her cousin, advocating for causes including women`s rights, gay rights and the environment.

Dukakis was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on June 20, 1931 and continued to act into her 80s. Referring to becoming a movie star at an age when many actresses have a hard time finding good roles, Dukakis told the Guardian newspaper in 2012, "Who knows how that happened? Chance, fate or a bit of both. But I`m very glad I did `Moonstruck.` It meant that I woke up the next day and was finally able to pay the bills."
Dukakis said she enjoyed her fame after "Moonstruck."

"The fun part is that people pass me on the street and yell lines from my movies," she told the Los Angeles Times in 1991. "For `Moonstruck` they say, `You`re life is going down the toilet.`"

Her TV appearances included playing a transgender landlady in the 1993 miniseries "Armistead Maupin`s Tales of the City" and its 1998 and 2001 follow-ups.

Other films included "Cloudburst" (2011) playing a foul-mouthed lesbian, "Away from Her" (2006) with Julie Christie, "The Event" (2003), "Better Living" (1998) with Roy Scheider, "Never Too Late" (1996) with Cloris Leachman, and "Dad" (1989) with Jack Lemmon and Ted Danson.
Dukakis married fellow actor Louis Zorich in 1962, with whom she had two sons and a daughter. Her husband passed away in 2018. She also had four grandchildren.

'Game of Thrones' actor Esme Bianco filed a lawsuit against US goth rocker Marilyn Manson on Friday setting out graphic allegations of rape, sexual abuse and violence. According to the papers filed at a California court, Bianco was twice invited to Los Angeles by Manson -- real name Brian Warner -- with the promise of paid work, only to be subjected to acts of sexual violence including being cut, whipped and electrocuted without her consent. "Mr. Warner raped Ms. Bianco in or around May 2011," the lawsuit alleges. "Mr. Warner committed sexual acts with Ms. Bianco when she was unconscious or otherwise unable to consent" and "also committed sexual battery against Ms. Bianco on multiple occasions," it says. Targaryens are back! New set photos of Matt Smith & Emma D’Arcy from 'House Of The Dragon' filming In a statement to AFP, Manson's lawyer Howard King described the claims as "provably false" and accused Bianco and her attorney of making "outrageous financial demands based on conduct that simply never occurred." "We will vigorously contest these allegations in court and are confident that we will prevail," King added. Los Angeles police in February confirmed they were investigating domestic violence allegations against the singer between 2009 and 2011. The dates and location of their investigation coincide with Bianco's allegations.
Spanish-language television giants Televisa of Mexico and Univision of the United States are joining forces to compete with Netflix and Amazon in the booming market for digital streaming.

The two firms will combine their content and form a new company called Televisa-Univision that will be "the biggest and most relevant Spanish-language media group in the world," a Televisa statement said.

Televisa said that it would receive $4.8 billion -- $3.0 billion in cash and most of the remainder in Univision shares -- in return for contributing its content assets.

Five people have been arrested on charges stemming from the violent theft of two bulldogs belonging to pop star Lady Gaga and the shooting of a dog walker during the pets` abduction in Hollywood earlier this year, authorities said on Thursday.

Four of the five suspects were known street gang members, while the fifth was the woman who reported she had found the dogs and safely returned them after a reward was offered, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The two bulldogs, named Koji and Gustav, were dropped off unharmed at an LAPD station on Feb. 26 and turned over to the musician`s representatives two days after they were snatched at gunpoint by two strangers in a car.

The dog walker who was accosted, 30-year-old Ryan Fischer, was shot in the chest by one of the suspects as they grabbed the two bulldogs, but he survived. A third Gaga-owned bulldog out walking with Fischer at the time escaped and was later found safe by police.
In an interview day afterwards, Fischer said he had suffered "a very close call with death."

Gaga, who was filming a movie in Rome when her pets were taken, had issued a public plea on social media for an "act of kindness" to bring them home and offered a $500,000 reward.

Los Angeles police said on Thursday that detectives "do not believe the suspects were targeting the victim because of the dogs’ owner."
"However, evidence suggests the suspects knew the great value of the breed of dogs and that was the motivation for the robbery," the statement said.

Three people - James Jackson, 18, Jaylin White, 19, and Lafayette Whaley, 27, were charged with one count each of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and second-degree robbery. Jackson, the accused gunman, also was charged with assault and a weapons offense, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney`s Office.

The woman who claimed to have found the dogs, 50-year-old Jennifer McBride, and a fifth defendant, Harold White, 40, were each charged with being accessories after the fact. McBride also was charged with receiving stolen property, while the elder White was additionally charged with illegal possession of a firearm, prosecutors said.

“This was a brazen street crime that left a man seriously wounded,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement. “We have alleged very serious charges in this case and have faith that justice will be appropriately served as this case unfolds in court.”

All five defendants pleaded not guilty on Thursday afternoon and were ordered to return to court on May 11. Jackson was held on $3 million bond, while bail was set at $1 million each for Jaylin White and Whaley, according to Los Angeles City News Service (CNS). In an interview day afterwards, Fischer said he had suffered "a very close call with death." Gaga, who was filming a movie in Rome when her pets were taken, had issued a public plea on social media for an "act of kindness" to bring them home and offered a $500,000 reward. Los Angeles police said on Thursday that detectives "do not believe the suspects were targeting the victim because of the dogs’ owner." "However, evidence suggests the suspects knew the great value of the breed of dogs and that was the motivation for the robbery," the statement said. “We have alleged very serious charges in this case and have faith that justice will be appropriately served as this case unfolds in court.” All five defendants pleaded not guilty on Thursday afternoon and were ordered to return to court on May 11. Jackson was held on $3 million bond, while bail was set at $1 million each for Jaylin White and Whaley, according to Los Angeles City News Service (CNS). McBride`s bail was set at $10,000 and she was ordered to submit to electronic monitoring under house arrest. Harold White`s bail was set at $35,000, CNS reported.
