Netizens are facepalming at the probable thought process of a woman who was seen smiling and taking a selfie atop her sinking car. The bizarre incident took place in Ottawa, Canada. It is not yet known who is the woman or where was she going when she drove her car into the lake.

As per reports, the woman was rescued. But the photo is doing rounds on social media. People are amused and even angry at the woman.

Astronomers found that the bubble's history started 14.4 million years ago. This started with formation of stars. Supernovas of these short-lived stars followed. The energy of the explosion pushed the interstellar material away and formed the bubble inside which temperature was higher than thant outside it. Density of the interstellar material inside the bubble is less than outside.

Astronomers found that there were 15 supernovas inside the bubble.

The Local Bubble is still growing at a rate of 6.7 kilometres per second. This is quite a slow speed when we consider events in space.

But why is Solar System right in the middle of the Local Bubble? Well that's purely due to chance. When the first supernova took place, Solar System was quite away from it. But Solar System's travel around the galaxy brought it (by chance) in the middle of the Local Bubble.

She wrote on Twitter that his detention had been extended, giving police another 24 hours to question him and potentially bring charges.

French investigators have continued to work on the more than nine-year-old cold case, but have always struggled to identify a motive for the killings of the Al-Hilli family.

Saad al-Hilli, a 50-year-old Iraqi-born British tourist, was gunned down along with his 47-year-old wife Iqbal and her 74-year-old mother in a woodland car park close to the village of Chevaline in the hills above Lake Annecy.

Each was shot several times in their British-registered BMW estate car and more than two dozen spent bullet casings were found near the vehicle.

The couple's two daughters, aged seven and four at the time, survived the attack, but the older girl was shot and badly beaten.

A 45-year-old French cyclist, Sylvain Mollier, was also killed after apparently stumbling upon the scene.

Murder in the Alps: Man suspected of killing a family takes part in crime-scene reconstruction

Landmines that are already laid in huge numbers are a problem in many countries across the world. Clearing landmines in peacetime is hence a very important work.

Perhaps because of this death of a gold medal-winning, landmine-sniffing rat is being mourned in Cambodia. The rat was awarded gold medal for his heroism for clearing ordnance from the Cambodian countryside. Magawa the rat's death was announced by his charity on Wednesday.

Magawa, a giant African pouched rat originally from Tanzania, helped clear mines from about 225,000 square metres of land -- the equivalent of 42 football pitches -- over the course of his career.

After detecting more than 100 landmines and other explosives, Magawa retired in June last year.

Magawa passed away "peacefully" this weekend at the age of eight, the Belgian charity APOPO, which trained him, said in a statement.

"All of us at APOPO are feeling the loss of Magawa and we are grateful for the incredible work he's done," the group said. 
APOPO said Magawa was in good health and spent most of last week playing with his usual enthusiasm.

But towards the weekend "he started to slow down, napping more and showing less interest in food in his last days," the charity said.

APOPO trained Magawa to detect the chemical compounds in explosives by rewarding him with tasty treats -- his favourites being bananas and peanuts. 
He would alert deminers by scratching the earth after using "his amazing sense of smell".

Magawa was able to cover an area the size of a tennis court in 30 minutes, something that would take four days using a conventional metal detector.

In September 2020, the rodent won the animal equivalent of Britain's highest civilian honour for bravery because of his uncanny knack for uncovering landmines and unexploded ordnance.

Not too far from the wolf pack is a bear, clearly distinct by its portly figure in the video. It may lack the aerodynamic, physical ferocity of the wolves but its hulking figure sure packs a punch. The bear appears so close to the wolf pack that it appears it's taking part in the hunt.

But it's wolves who score the kill. A meal well-deserved.

To make goldfish drive a vehicle on land was obviously a big challenge. In technical terms, this is called 'domain transfer methodology'. This examines whether a particular species is able to perform tasks outside its own environment.

The experiment was carried out by researchers from Ben-Gurion University in Israel. The team was led by Professor Ronen Segev.

For their experiment, the team created a water tank on wheels. The wheels could move in accordance with how the goldfish swam.

The researchers then taught the goldfish how to navigate the vehicle. The goldfish soon learnt to determine connection between their own movement and movement of the vehicle.

Then, a target was given to the fish. They had to navigate the vehicle in order to touch a pink board.

After only a few days of training, the goldfish were able to navigate the vehicle to touch the board. They could do so even when they were given different starting points in the room.

The researchers concluded that the sense of navigation was something very innate to animals irrespective of the species.

If lickable TV does not fall in this category according to you then just maybe your inquisitive nature needs a boost.

A Japanese professor has actually created a lickable TV screen. This TV screen can imitate flavours of food and is being touted as another step towards a 'multi sensory' viewing experience. Hmm!

The device is called Taste the TV (TTTV). It uses a carousel of 10 flavour canisters that spray in combination to create the taste of a particular food. The flavour sample then rolls on hygienic film over a flat TV screen for the viewer to try.&nbsp;

The intent behind developing lickable screen is noble.

Meiji University professor Homei Miyashita says that this kind of technology can enhance the way people connect and interact with the outside world in the era of pandemic.

"The goal is to make it possible for people to have the experience of something like eating at a restaurant on the other side of the world, even while staying at home," he said.

Kris King, who lives in Sudney, gave his smartphone to his son Christian to keep him busy as he watched his daughter's football match.

"Something's on the way," said Christian to his dad who probably ignored it as child talk.

Minutes later King's wife got a call from UberEats driver about delivery. King family ordered food often so this probably didn't seem unusal until mom realised what her dear child had done.

Christian had spent USD 1139 to order cakes and ice-cream. The order was so long that Kris had to flick the screen 30 times to see the complete list.

On display in the UberEats delivery car was fine assortment of sweets.

Early in “The Beatles: Get Back,” Peter Jackson’s nearly eight-hour documentary about the making of the album “Let It Be,” the band forms a tight circle in the corner of a movie soundstage. Inexplicably, Yoko Ono is there.

 
She perches in reach of John Lennon, her bemused face oriented toward him like a plant growing to the light. When Paul McCartney starts to play “I’ve Got a Feeling,” Ono is there, stitching a furry object in her lap. When the band starts into “Don’t Let Me Down,” Ono is there, reading a newspaper. Lennon slips behind the piano, and Ono is there, her head hovering above his shoulder. Later, when the group squeezes into a recording booth, Ono is there, wedged between Lennon and Ringo Starr, wordlessly unwrapping a piece of chewing gum and working it between Lennon’s fingers. When George Harrison walks off, briefly quitting the band, there is Ono, wailing inchoately into his microphone.

 
At first I found Ono’s omnipresence in the documentary bizarre, even unnerving. The vast set only emphasizes the ludicrousness of her proximity.&nbsp;Why is she there? I pleaded with my television set.

 
But as the hours passed and Ono remained — painting at an easel, chewing a pastry, paging through a Lennon fan magazine — I found myself impressed by her stamina, then entranced by the provocation of her existence and ultimately dazzled by her performance.

 
My attention kept drifting toward her corner of the frame. I was seeing intimate, long-lost footage of the world’s most famous band preparing for its final performance, and I couldn’t stop watching Yoko Ono sitting around, doing nothing.

 
“The Beatles: Get Back” is being read by some as an exculpatory document — proof that Ono was not responsible for destroying the Beatles.

 
“She never has opinions about the stuff they’re doing,” Jackson, who crafted the series out of more than 60 hours of footage, told “60 Minutes.” “She’s a very benign presence, and she doesn’t interfere in the slightest.”

 
Ono, also a producer on the series, tweeted an article without comment that claims she is merely performing “mundane tasks” as the band gets to work. In the series, McCartney himself — from the vantage of January 1969, more than a year before the band’s public dissolution — pokes fun at the idea that the Beatles would end “because Yoko sat on an amp.”

 
Her presence has been described as gentle, quiet and unimposing. Indeed, she is not the set’s most meddlesome interloper: That is Michael Lindsay-Hogg, the hapless director of the original documentary “Let It Be,” who keeps urging the band to stage a concert in an ancient amphitheater in Libya or perhaps at a hospital for children suffering from reassuringly minor ailments.

 
And yet there is something depressing about the recasting of Ono as a quiet, inconspicuous lump of a person. Of course her appearance in the studio is obtrusive. The fact that she is not there to directly influence the band’s recordings only makes her behavior more ridiculous. To deny this is to sap her of her power.

 
From the beginning, Ono’s presence feels intentional. Her gauzy black outfit and flowing, center-parted hair lend her a tentlike appearance; it is as if she is setting up camp, carving out space in the band’s environment. A “mundane” task becomes peculiar when you choose to perform it in front of McCartney’s face as he tries to write “Let It Be.” When you repeat this for 21 days, it becomes astonishing.

 
The documentary’s shaggy run time reveals Ono’s provocation in all its intensity. It’s as if she is staging a marathon performance piece, and in a way, she is.

 
Jackson has called his series “a documentary about a documentary,” and we are constantly reminded that we are watching the band produce its image for the camera.

 
Ono was, of course, already an accomplished performance artist when she encountered Lennon, seven years her junior, at a gallery show in 1966. She was a pioneer of participatory artwork, a collaborator of experimental musicians like John Cage and a master at coyly appearing in spaces where she was not supposed to belong. In 1971, she would stage an imaginary exhibition of ephemeral works at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In the catalog, she is photographed in front of the museum holding a sign that says “F,” recasting it as the “Museum of Modern [F]art.”

 
The idea that Ono doomed the band was always a canard that smacked of misogyny and racism. She was cast as the groupie from hell, a sexually domineering “dragon lady” and a witch who hypnotized Lennon into spurning the lads for some woman. (In 1970, Esquire published an article titled “John Rennon’s Excrusive Gloupie” that promised to reveal “the Yoko nobody Onos,” featuring an illustration of Ono looming over Lennon, who is rendered as a cockroach on her leash.)

 
These slurs would spiral into an indefatigable pop culture meme that has haunted generations of women accused of intruding on male genius.

 
Ono did not “break up the Beatles.” (If Lennon’s distancing from the band was influenced by his desire to explore other pursuits, including his personal and creative relationship with Ono, that was his call.) But she did intrude.

 
In the documentary, McCartney politely complains that his songwriting with Lennon is disrupted by Ono’s omnipresence. For her part, she was vigilant about escaping the typical role of the artist’s wife. In a 1997 interview, she commented on the status of women in rock in the 1960s.

 
“My first impression was that they were all wives, kind of sitting in the next room while the guys were talking,” she said. “I was afraid of being something like that.”

 
Later, she would dedicate her barbed 1973 song, “Potbelly Rocker,” to the “wives of rockers who are nameless.”

 
In her 1964 text project “Grapefruit,” a kind of recipe book for staging art experiences, she instructs her audience “not to look at Rock Hudson but only Doris Day,” and in “The Beatles: Get Back,” she skillfully redirects the eye away from the band and toward herself.

 
Her image stands in contrast to that of other Beatles partners — modelesque white women in chic outfits who occasionally swoop in with kisses, nod encouragingly and slip unobtrusively away. Linda Eastman, McCartney’s future wife, lingers a little longer, occasionally circulating and photographing the band.

Eastman was a rock portraitist, and one of the film’s most fascinating moments shows her in deep conversation with Ono; as if to prove Ono’s point, it is a rare on-set interaction with no recovered audio. 
Ono simply never leaves. She refuses to decamp to the sidelines, but she also resists acting out stereotypes; she appears as neither a doting naif nor a needling busybody. Lennon slips behind the piano, and Ono is there, her head hovering above his shoulder. Later, when the group squeezes into a recording booth, Ono is there, wedged between Lennon and Ringo Starr, wordlessly unwrapping a piece of chewing gum and working it between Lennon’s fingers. When George Harrison walks off, briefly quitting the band, there is Ono, wailing inchoately into his microphone. At first I found Ono’s omnipresence in the documentary bizarre, even unnerving. The vast set only emphasizes the ludicrousness of her proximity. Why is she there? I pleaded with my television set. But as the hours passed and Ono remained — painting at an easel, chewing a pastry, paging through a Lennon fan magazine — I found myself impressed by her stamina, then entranced by the provocation of her existence and ultimately dazzled by her performance. My attention kept drifting toward her corner of the frame. I was seeing intimate, long-lost footage of the world’s most famous band preparing for its final performance, and I couldn’t stop watching Yoko Ono sitting around, doing nothing. “The Beatles: Get Back” is being read by some as an exculpatory document — proof that Ono was not responsible for destroying the Beatles. “She never has opinions about the stuff they’re doing,” Jackson, who crafted the series out of more than 60 hours of footage, told “60 Minutes.” “She’s a very benign presence, and she doesn’t interfere in the slightest.” Ono, also a producer on the series, tweeted an article without comment that claims she is merely performing “mundane tasks” as the band gets to work. In the series, McCartney himself — from the vantage of January 1969, more than a year before the band’s public dissolution — pokes fun at the idea that the Beatles would end “because Yoko sat on an amp.” Her presence has been described as gentle, quiet and unimposing. Her gauzy black outfit and flowing, center-parted hair lend her a tentlike appearance; it is as if she is setting up camp, carving out space in the band’s environment. She was a pioneer of participatory artwork, a collaborator of experimental musicians like John Cage and a master at coyly appearing in spaces where she was not supposed to belong. In 1971, she would stage an imaginary exhibition of ephemeral works at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In the catalog, she is photographed in front of the museum holding a sign that says “F,” recasting it as the “Museum of Modern [F]art.” The idea that Ono doomed the band was always a canard that smacked of misogyny and racism. She was cast as the groupie from hell, a sexually domineering “dragon lady” and a witch who hypnotized Lennon into spurning the lads for some woman. (In 1970, Esquire published an article titled “John Rennon’s Excrusive Gloupie” that promised to reveal “the Yoko nobody Onos,” featuring an illustration of Ono looming over Lennon, who is rendered as a cockroach on her leash.) These slurs would spiral into an indefatigable pop culture meme that has haunted generations of women accused of intruding on male genius. Ono did not “break up the Beatles.” (If Lennon’s distancing from the band was influenced by his desire to explore other pursuits, including his personal and creative relationship with Ono, that was his call.) When Leo (as he is lovingly called in the community) was asked about having developed a friendship with Hill and if on their third film together, the off-screen chemistry affected the production, he responded saying yes.&nbsp;"That's right, Django (Unchained), too, that's our (second film together). Look,&nbsp;I'll just start right out of the gate and say he is an absolute genius, this young man, this friend of mine. His ability to improvise and take control of a scene and have the narrative be shifted in the most amazing, colorful ways is a sight to witness and something truly remarkable to experience. Scott, however, has reportedly denied all the allegations.

In court papers filed in response to six <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/lifestyle/news-astroworld-tragedy-travis-scott-organisers-sued-for-750m-430297">lawsuits</a>, which were obtained earlier this week by CNN, attorneys for Scott have asked for the cases to be dropped and banned from being brought up again. “Defendants generally deny the allegations set forth,” they said, reportedly.&nbsp;

 
Families of victims have vehemently criticised the rapper's filings, labelling them as "shameful". Houston attorney James Lassiter told CNN that Scott "continues using social media to present a public image of someone who is grieved by the catastrophic loss of life that his actions caused” while “quietly paying celebrity lawyers to argue his victims deserve nothing more than symbolic help with funeral costs."

Scott has offered to cover the funeral costs of the Astroworld victims. However, at least one family, of the youngest victim Ezra Blount (9), has declined to take help from him.&nbsp;

 
Another Houston attorney, Brent Coons, has demanded Scott pays $10bn to settle litigation from the tragedy. The attorney is reportedly representing 1,547 concertgoers, which the law firm said is the largest lawsuit to date. Lawyers have also asked the court to combine cases to speed up the litigation process.

The E! People's Choice Awards for the year 2021 happened on Tuesday night and the award show was dedicated to honouring the best in the business. While Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson took home two awards: Male Movie Star of the Year and Comedy Movie Star of the Year for Disney’s 'Jungle Cruise', Scarlett Johansson was declared Female Movie Star of the Year for Marvel’s 'Black Widow'.

The E! People's Choice Awards for the year 2021 happened on Tuesday night and the award show was dedicated to honouring the best in the business. While Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson took home two awards: Male Movie Star of the Year and Comedy Movie Star of the Year for Disney’s 'Jungle Cruise', Scarlett Johansson was declared Female Movie Star of the Year for Marvel’s 'Black Widow'. Smash hits like 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' and 'Loki' were awarded with multiple trophies. The event was held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica and was hosted by Kenan Thompson. Reportedly, it aired simultaneously on NBC and E! Tuesday night and was produced by Den of Thieves, with Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Prager and Barb Bialkowski serving as executive producers.
