The DC movie The Flash is one of the most-anticipated movies this year, and a lot of hope also rests on the movie's shoulders. It is set to reboot the DC film continuity to help it transition from DCEU (DC Extended Universe) to DCU (DC Universe) that DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran are building. The film has had a rocky road to release and at one point it appeared that the $200 movie might be shelved. But it was Gunn's ringing endorsement (he called it one of the greatest superhero movies ever made) that transformed the buzz around the movie. And now none other than Tom Cruise has given the movie his thumbs up.&nbsp;

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Cruise met with Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav and the studio boss happened to tell him that the movie rocks. Curious, Cruise requested a copy of the movie and presumably because it's Cruise, the film was sent to him.&nbsp;

THR further reports that Cruise was mighty impressed by the film and called director Andy Muschietti and told him The Flash is &nbsp;“everything you want in a movie” and that this is the kind of movie that is needed right now.&nbsp;

<h2>The Flash's difficult road to release</h2>

The Flash has had a long and difficult road towards its release. It has been in development in one form or another since 2014, and has experienced a revolving door of writers and filmmakers over the years before Andy Muschietti joined. And even after the film was shot, Warner Bros at one moment considered scrapping the project, thanks to the erratic behaviour of the main star Ezra Miller. They have had numerous run-ins with the law in the last couple of years. Even the lockdown induced by COVID-19 did not deter them as they were involved in a spate of incidents around the globe and many of which were violent in nature.

In August last year, Miller released a statement via Variety saying they have "gone through a time of intense crisis" and had begun treatment for mental illness. Then James Gunn, the new co-CEO of DC Studios, the entity that succeeds the now-defunct DC Films, gave his vote of confidence earlier this year when he announced the first chapter of DCU's 10-year slate of movies, TV shows, animation, and gaming.

<h2>What is The Flash about?</h2>

The Flash has Barry Allen (aka the Flash) trying to bring back his dead mother, but he inadvertently makes parallel realities collider. The film brings back Michael Keaton as Batman and even features a cameo from Ben Affleck's Batman. Sasha Calle joins DCU as Supergirl. Michael Shannon reprises the role of General Zod. Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, and Antje Traue also star. Since the film deals with the multiverse the possibilities are endless, and there may be more surprises in store.

The new trailer was received positively by the fandom, with even sceptics admitting excitement about the project.&nbsp;

The Flash releases on June 16.

Tom Cruise showers The Flash with praise: 'Everything you want in a movie'

Veteran talk show host David Letterman has taken exception to Tom Cruise not being present at the recently held Oscars ceremony. Cruise was conspicuous by his absence, especially since his movie Top Gun: Maverick was nominated for Academy Awards in six categories. It eventually took home one trophy, Best Sound. While speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Letterman asked, "Here’s something that’s a little sensitive: Tom Cruise. Where was Tom Cruise?” Kimmel answered, "We don’t know where Tom Cruise was. We heard production issues", implying that he was told Cruise was busy filming Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part II, the seventh movie in the franchise.

“What does that mean? That’s nonsense," retorted Letterman. He added that Cruise should have been at the event “celebrating his big jet pack Maverick show." To which Kimmel said, “It seems like he should’ve been there, but he was not there. Maybe he feels like he wasn’t going to win so he didn’t want to come” and added, "he's the prince of Hollywood."

Letterman responded, “More to the power of your success. If Mr. Big Shot was not there, the show was still never more successful. Nice going, Jimmy.”

Some have theorised that Cruise was not present because he was apprehensive about being the butt of a scientology joke. While Kimmel did make a mild joke about Cruise's controversial belief system, it was reportedly only because Cruise was not there to be mortified.&nbsp;

<h2>Tom Cruise's connection with&nbsp;scientology</h2>

Tom Cruise is a prominent member of what is officially called the Church of Scientology, a religion founded by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard in the 1950s. Cruise became involved with Scientology in the 1980s and has been a vocal supporter and advocate for the organization ever since. He has credited Scientology with helping him overcome dyslexia and improve his personal and professional life. Cruise has also been involved in the church's outreach efforts and has contributed significant amounts of money to its causes. However, his association with Scientology has also been the subject of controversy, with some critics raising concerns about the organisation's practices and its treatment of members.

While the organisation maintains that it is a legitimate religion that provides spiritual guidance and counseling to its members, critics argue that it is a dangerous cult that exploits and harms its followers.

Here's where to watch Oscar-winning Tom Cruise film Top Gun: Maverick online

The Oscars 2023 ceremony is&nbsp;almost here. Winning an Oscar, formally called the Academy Award, is often seen as the ultimate achievement for actors in the film industry, but despite oodles of talent and skill, not to mention multiple nominations, there are many great actors who have never won an Oscar. There are a variety of reasons for that. First, the voting process is subjective. These awards are voted by members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which is made up of actors, directors, producers, and other industry professionals. However, each member has their own personal preferences and biases, which can influence their voting decisions.&nbsp;

Moreover, politics and campaigning can also play a role in deciding the winner. In some cases, an actor's studio or publicist may run an aggressive campaign to secure the win, while other actors may not have the same level of resources or publicity behind them.

Oscars 2023: Ten great actors who haven’t won an Oscar surprisingly

The year 2022 saw sequels of several hit franchises, but no film created a defining impact as much as Top Gun: Maverick did on viewers, critics, and the box office. The film 'saved' Hollywood, as Steven Spielberg rightly said, and provided a wholesome experience for viewers who were craving a quintessential Hollywood actioner in a space overcrowded by superheroes and live-action films in the post-pandemic era. &nbsp;The film's success also reiterated the fact that Tom Cruise the true blue superstar, who knows how to make a defining comeback. The film has earned six nominations at the upcoming Oscars, which may have come as a surprise to a lot of conventional cine lovers but most feel it was well earned.&nbsp;

Top Gun: Maverick is one of those rare films that earned critical praise as well as box office success. In the post-pandemic world, the film managed to create history at the box office. Top Gun: Maverick grossed $718.7 million in the United States and Canada, and $770 million in other territories, with a worldwide total of $1.489 billion! Its often believed that commercial hit films seldom make their way to the Oscar nomination list yet Top Gun: Maverick is a rare film that has fetched technical nominations and even earned a spot in the Best Picture category.&nbsp;

With just days left for Oscar Awards 2023, here's a look back at Best Picture nominee Top Gun: Maverick and why it is worthy of the Academy's acknowledgment.&nbsp;
&nbsp;

<h2>Six nominations at Oscars</h2>

Produced by Tom Cruise and Jerry Bruckheimer, Top Gun: Maverick has been directed by Joseph Kosinski. The film's technical competency has been widely lauded ever since the first trailer dropped in early 2022. And rightly so! Because in an age of high-end VFX, most of the stunts in the film were performed by actors which gave the film a sense of realism like never before. The film does use VFX of course, but it was so well blended in the scenes that it felt realistic. As so a nod in the Best VFX category was justified. It also earned nominations in Best Film Editing, Best Sound, and Best Original Song for Lady Gaga's rendition of Hold My Hand.&nbsp;

The film also fetched a nomination in the Best Adapted Screenplay category. While many would argue that the Best Picture nomination for the film is rather generous on the Academy's part, we think it rightfully earned a position in the coveted category for its technical finesse. A film works not only for its performance and story but also for how well it's put together. Top Gun: Maverick, in that sense, ticked all the boxes.&nbsp;

<h2>The defining impact of the characters</h2>

Who does not like an underdog story? And one has Tom Cruise, playing the underdog, you end up rooting for him more than you are willing to, right? The film had Cruise reprising his role as Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell, coming back to train US Navy pilots in Top Gun school, and being ridden by guilt of an incident that happened decades back. Somehow, the idea of Cruise playing the guild-ridden father figure to a bunch of talented pilots and the same man romancing Jennifer Connelly the old-school way really worked for the audience at large.&nbsp;

While the film focussed mostly on Tom Cruise, as Pete Maverick Mitchell, it also gave us new characters to root for. From Miles Teller who played Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw, to Jennifer Connelly as Penny Benjamin to Glen Powell as Jake 'Hangman' Seresin, every character found a separate fan base among viewers. And who can forget the special cameo of Val Kilmer, which was truly special in more ways than one.&nbsp;

Top Gun: Maverick also served as a textbook example of how to make sequels. The film took a leaf from the original story and weaved a story around it that resonated with all age groups. Top Gun: Maverick's new and returning characters were heartfelt and wonderfully written.

WION's review of the film termed it as a summer blockbuster. "There's very little that goes against the film, really. Top Gun: Maverick&nbsp;is your typical summer blockbuster. It has got a bit of everything- action, romance, comedy and thrilling fighter planes. For those who grew up watching and loving Tom Cruise and his films, it's a perfect post-pandemic gift from one of Hollywood's biggest stars." <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/hollywood/news-top-gun-maverick-review-joe-kosinskis-film-presents-tom-cruise-in-his-full-glory-482049">Read full review here</a>

<h2>Tom Cruise's fourth Oscar nomination&nbsp;</h2>

In a career spanning nearly four decades, Cruise has only earned an Oscar nomination three times before- all for his acting. Cruise earned nominations for Born on the Fourth of July (1989), Jerry Maguire (1996), and Magnolia (1999). This is the first time that the actor has been nominated in the capacity of a producer as Top Gun: Maverick has earned a Best Picture nomination.&nbsp;

<h2>Does it stand a chance to win an Oscar?</h2>

While Top Gun: Maverick has been nominated in the Best Picture category, it is unlikely that it will win it. It is, after all, competing with award-season favourites like Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Banshees of Inisherin, and The Fabelmans. It will also lose out to Avatar: The Way Of Water in the Best VFX category. &nbsp;But trade pundits feel that the film might just win in the Best Editing category.&nbsp;

The year 2022 saw sequels of several hit franchises, but no film created a defining impact as much as Top Gun: Maverick did on viewers, critics, and the box office. The film 'saved' Hollywood, as Steven Spielberg rightly said, and provided a wholesome experience for viewers who were craving a quintessential Hollywood actioner in a space overcrowded by superheroes and live-action films in the post-pandemic era. The film's success also reiterated the fact that Tom Cruise the true blue superstar, who knows how to make a defining comeback. The film has earned six nominations at the upcoming Oscars, which may have come as a surprise to a lot of conventional cine lovers but most feel it was well earned. Top Gun: Maverick is one of those rare films that earned critical praise as well as box office success. In the post-pandemic world, the film managed to create history at the box office. Top Gun: Maverick grossed $718.7 million in the United States and Canada, and $770 million in other territories, with a worldwide total of $1.489 billion! Its often believed that commercial hit films seldom make their way to the Oscar nomination list yet Top Gun: Maverick is a rare film that has fetched technical nominations and even earned a spot in the Best Picture category. With just days left for Oscar Awards 2023, here's a look back at Best Picture nominee Top Gun: Maverick and why it is worthy of the Academy's acknowledgment. Six nominations at Oscars Produced by Tom Cruise and Jerry Bruckheimer, Top Gun: Maverick has been directed by Joseph Kosinski. The film's technical competency has been widely lauded ever since the first trailer dropped in early 2022. And rightly so! Because in an age of high-end VFX, most of the stunts in the film were performed by actors which gave the film a sense of realism like never before. The film does use VFX of course, but it was so well blended in the scenes that it felt realistic. As so a nod in the Best VFX category was justified. Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg ends their 20-year feud, here's what happened

At the Directors Guild of America Awards, it was all about Tom Cruise! Judd Apatow took shots at the Hollywood actor as he mocked his height, his Scientology beliefs and co-parenting arrangement with Katie Holmes.&nbsp;

The filmmaker said, “Remember when Tom Cruise jumped up and down on the couch and we all thought, ‘What a lunatic!’ And now he rides a motorcycle off a cliff and BASE jumps and we’re all like, ‘Tom’s fine!’” He was referring to the famous Oprah Winfrey interview in 2005 when he couldn’t hold back his excitement on meeting up with Katie Holmes.&nbsp;

“Tom is not fine. Someone needs to explain to him something called CGI. You’re 60. Calm down,” added the filmmaker.&nbsp;

Judd also took a dig at the actor’s co-parenting choices as he said, “The only thing he seems to be afraid of is co-parenting and antidepressants. I doubled my Prozac today just for this. I doubled it! Do you think if Tom Cruise took antidepressants, he’d be like, "I’m not jumping out of a f***ing cliff. I’m rich!’”

Judd was incharge of the hosting duties at the Directors Guild of America Awards. At the event, he also joked about James Cameron and Austin Butler. He previously hosted the Director's Guild Awards in 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Ever since Tom Cruise-starrer Top Gun: Maverick released last year and it became clear that both the audiences and critics absolutely adore it, many have wondered when (and not if) the next movie in the series will be announced. Jerry Bruckheimer, one of the producers, has opened up about the possibility. Well, that isn't true as he played coy with the question when asked by Variety. He joked, "We're just enjoying this one. I have no idea. It took 35 years to make Top Gun: Maverick. I'm not going to be around another 35 years." The first Top Gun was released in 1986 and in 1990 Cruise had flatly denied that a second movie would be made, saying it would be "irresponsible". Compared to that, Bruckheimer's statement is almost positive.

Maverick director Joseph Kosinski has earlier said that a third movie may be coming. While speaking to Deadline, he said, "Is there another story that is compelling enough that we need to go back? It seems to me at the end of this film that Maverick has some gas left in the tank. He’s not settling down."

Directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie from a story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks, Maverick&nbsp;brought back Cruise in the role of Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. In the sequel, he is now a test pilot and flight instructor. The film was a huge success, almost earning $1.5 billion worldwide. If we do not include Avatar: The Way of Water, which did surpass Maverick at the box office but only in 2023, Maverick was the biggest film of 2022 in terms of worldwide collection.

With the Mission: Impossible franchise and now Maverick, Tom Cruise has largely dominated the action genre. Currently, he is busy with the promotions and post-production of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, the seventh movie in the franchise. It comes out on July 14. The spy thriller franchise began with 1996's Mission: Impossible, which was a continuation of the 1960s TV series of the same name. As the name suggests it is the first in a story arc. The arc will end with the eighth and final Mission: Impossible installment titled Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.&nbsp;

World's Richest Actors: Shah Rukh Khan bags 4th position; beats Tom Cruise, George Clooney

In the last few years, China has put regulatory hurdles in front of big Hollywood movies from releasing in the country. This is the next best thing to an explicit ban. However, this hurts the American film industry, for China is an important market for its films. That was not so earlier. But it all changed when 2009's 'Avatar' brought in an unheard-of $200 million to 20th Century Fox, and then big studios began to do everything they could to secure a China release. And to pass the country's stringent censors, they had to cut everything that the Communist Party might find unpalatable, including the obvious ones like nudity and sex but also less obvious ones such as homosexuality, actors of colour, imagery of recognisable American symbols like Statue of Liberty, and so on.

Even as China has tightened the censors, it has made attempts to match the scale and scope of epic Hollywood movies in projects bankrolled by the government, and there have been successes like 'The Battle at Lake Changjin', which was the second-highest grossing movie of 2021 globally after 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'.

But there was one project as ambitious and expensive called 'Born to Fly' that was unceremoniously abandoned. As per The Hollywood Reporter, the film was meant to be the Chinese answer to Tom Cruise-starrer 'Top Gun: Maverick'. Just like 'Maverick' the film, produced in association with the People’s Liberation Army Air Force, was going to be a showcase of China's airborne firepower, specifically the stealth fighter jet J-20.

It was going to be released on September 30 and many pegged it as the next Chinese success. But it was abandoned, with a statement saying it was postponed to show "better production effects.”

As per THR, the filmmakers realised after watching 'Top Gun: Maverick' that their movie's visuals were far inferior compared to the Hollywood movie and they, along with Chinese Communist Party feared that the country and its film industry will be a subject of mockery and derision around the world.

But what now? Can the effects be improved and the movie might see the light of day? As per a THR source, nothing is certain, and it is possible that the movie may never release at all.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie from a story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks, 'Maverick' was the sequel to the 1986 classic 'Top Gun' and brought back Cruise in the role of Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, who is now a test pilot and flight instructor. The film was a huge success, almost earning $1.5 billion worldwide.

English actress <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/emily-blunt-doesnt-want-to-play-strong-female-lead-in-films-im-bored-534610">Emily Blunt</a> recently shared an amusing story from the sets of Doug Liman's science-fiction action film 'Edge of Tomorrow' involving herself and American action star <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/hollywood/news-tom-cruise--christopher-mcquarrie-reportedly-working-on-three-new-films-505233">Tom Cruise</a>. While speaking on the Smartless podcast, Blunt had said that she and Cruise had to wear hefty suits to portray their characters, which are soldiers who are fighting against an alien invasion. And that inconvenienced her. She said she was confused how to handle the 85-pound armoured suit and began to cry when she put it on first. She told Cruise she doesn't know how she is going to get through the shoot.&nbsp;

To which, Tom replied, pardon the pun, bluntly, ‘Come on, stop being such a p"***y, OK?’

Blunt's comments were taken by many to feel that she felt bad about the p***y part. They felt offended on her behalf, forcing Blunt issue a statement to E! News. "It's ludicrous that it's being spun as something that offended me. It didn't. I shared the story as lightheartedly as it was meant by Tom," she said.

Written by Christopher McQuarrie, Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, 'Edge of Tomorrow' was adapted from the 2004 Japanese light novel 'All You Need Is Kill' by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. The story takes place in a futuristic earth in which Europe is occupied by a race of hostile extraterrestrials. Cruise plays the role of a public relations officer called Major William Cage who is thrown into combat and undergoes a time loop in which he fights the alien and dies. Repeatedly.&nbsp;

The film received positive reviews and was a commercial success. It scored an impressive 91 per cent on the review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes. The critical consensus reads, "Gripping, well-acted, funny, and clever, Edge of Tomorrow offers entertaining proof that Tom Cruise is still more than capable of shouldering the weight of a blockbuster action thriller."

The film grossed $370.5 million on a budget of $178 million.

In an attempt to redeem itself, the Golden Globes 2023 nomination list that was announced on Monday included a diverse set of films, with Steven Speilberg making a comeback to cinema and the awards circuit with his deeply personal film 'The Fablemans', which got multiple nods. &nbsp;

The nomination list acknowledged the best in TV and films in 2022.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Selenis Leyva and&nbsp;Mayan Lopez announced this year's nominations.&nbsp;

The year is a crucial one, as last year several A-listers boycotted the awards as the voting body lacked diversity.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which organises the film and television awards, had scrambled to reform itself since long-harboured criticisms of the group's practices went public in early 2021.

The show had taken place last year behind closed doors as NBC had refused to air the ceremony amid controversy. The broadcaster is back on board this year after HFPA assured that it was looking at making the event more diverse.&nbsp;

It was recently announced that Jerrod Carmichael will be hosting the awards ceremony this year. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Ricky Gervais, Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon have hosted the ceremony previously.&nbsp;

Top contenders this year include 'Elvis,' 'Top Gun: Maverick,' Women Talking,' 'Glass Onion'.&nbsp;

In an attempt to redeem itself, the Golden Globes 2023 nomination list that was announced on Monday included a diverse set of films, with Steven Speilberg making a comeback to cinema and the awards circuit with his deeply personal film 'The Fablemans', which got multiple nods. The nomination list acknowledged the best in TV and films in 2022. Selenis Leyva and Mayan Lopez announced this year's nominations. The year is a crucial one, as last year several A-listers boycotted the awards as the voting body lacked diversity. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which organises the film and television awards, had scrambled to reform itself since long-harboured criticisms of the group's practices went public in early 2021. The show had taken place last year behind closed doors as NBC had refused to air the ceremony amid controversy. The broadcaster is back on board this year after HFPA assured that it was looking at making the event more diverse. It was recently announced that Jerrod Carmichael will be hosting the awards ceremony this year. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Ricky Gervais, Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon have hosted the ceremony previously. Top contenders this year include 'Elvis,' 'Top Gun: Maverick,' Women Talking,' 'Glass Onion'. Tom Cruise starrer 'Top Gun Maverick' sets date for OTT premiere

Tom Cruise and his helicopter are creating quite havoc on the set&nbsp;of the BBC period drama 'Call the Midwife.'&nbsp;The show's star, Jenny Agutter, has recently revealed how Tom's helicopter kept on affecting their filming.

During her recent interview with Mirror, Jenny said: "Tom Cruise keeps on ruining our filming by landing his helicopter right outside where we’re shooting.''

Cruise is reportedly filming 'Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part Two'&nbsp;at Longcross Studios in Surrey, the same place the show has been shot. So every time he comes and goes, the noise of the helicopter interrupts the shooting, which led the cast of the show to shoot the whole sequence again.

Talking further, Jenny, who plays the role of Sister Julienne in the drama, quipped: "In my habit! Imagine. ' Excuse me, Tom, but look, we’re trying to film. "I don’t know about you, but just get your helicopter out of here quickly!"

Tom loves flying and got his pilot's licence in 1994. Time and again, he has been spotted flying the chopper and planes. The
'Top Gun' star is a trained pilot and&nbsp;even prefers to perform his many crucial air stunts by himself.

However, Tom's representative has yet to respond.

In a reflection of Hollywood's deep late-summer slump, 'Top Gun: Maverick,' first released 15 weeks ago, climbed back to the top of the North American box office this weekend despite a relatively slim four-day take of $7.9 million.

The Paramount action thriller, starring a greying but still flight-ready Tom Cruise, has now soared to a domestic total of $701 million and $740 million internationally, industry watcher Exhibitor Relations reported Monday.

That gravity-defying success came amid a generally abysmal patch for Hollywood films, with few major new releases. A lone bright spot was the record 8.1 million US moviegoers who took advantage of $3 tickets on Saturday's National Cinema Day.

Second place on the long Labor Day weekend -- celebrated in both the United States and Canada -- went to last weekend's No. 2: Sony's action thriller 'Bullet Train,' at $7.3 million. Brad Pitt stars.

Seeking to fill the late-summer vacuum, Sony re-released superhero film 'Spider-Man: No Way Home,' hoping that 11 minutes of added footage would draw viewers. Nine months after its original release, the Tom Holland vehicle placed a surprising third, earning $6.6 million.&nbsp;

In fourth place, up two spots from last weekend, was Warner Bros.' family-friendly animation 'DC League of Super-Pets,' at $6.4 million.

And in fifth, slipping from last weekend's No. 1 spot, was Sony's horror flick 'The Invitation,' at $6 million.

Hollywood's problems stem partly from Covid-related scheduling chaos, said analyst David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research.

"Moviegoers have shown that they are willing and able, but without big, regular franchise releases to anchor the schedule, the box office is going to drift lower, before climbing back in the fourth quarter."

He noted that 2022 will finish with 32 franchise films, down from 58 in 2019. Forty-two are set for next year.

Rounding out the weekend's top 10 were:

'Beast' ($4.7 million)
'Minions: The Rise of Gru' ($4.2 million)
'Jaws' (re-release): ($3.1 million)
'Thor: Love and Thunder' ($3.1 million)

'Top Gun' soars back to surprise lead in North American theatres

During the weekend, a minute-long clip which shows Tom Cruise standing on a biplane that's airborne started doing the rounds on social media. In the video, he is seen saying that he is filming the latest entry of the 'M: I' series and that he's excited to show it to people on the big screen.&nbsp;

The viral video left many shocked because the actor is holding the biplane with just one hand and there seems to be no harness involved. Another biplane can be seen flying next to Tom Cruise's biplane with a pilot and director Christopher McQuarrie in it. And, a third biplane was shooting the whole scene from a distance.&nbsp;

According to TMZ, the video leaked online, without a traceable source. The report also suggests that&nbsp;the video could be a PSA that the actor filmed a while back. Earlier this year, it&nbsp;was supposedly shown during CinemaCon and ahead of a 'Top Gun' screening in Las Vegas.

Tom Cruise is known for doing his own stunts. The 60-year-old actor doesn't believe in hiring a stuntman to do scenes that require a lot of strength and agility. Instead, he keeps himself fit to be able to the toughest of stunts with ease.

In the next two years, we will reportedly get two parts of 'Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning'. The film will star Tom Cruise, Rob Delaney, Henry Czerny, Ving Rhames, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, and Cary Elwes in prominent roles.

On Friday, producers of the Tom Cruise blockbuster movie 'Top Gun: Maverick' have filed to dismiss a copyright lawsuit against the film.&nbsp;
The production company was sued over the magazine article on which the first 'Top Gun'&nbsp;is based.

The lawsuit was filed in June by the writer Ehud Yonay's wife Shosh and son Yuval Yonay. The plaintiff argued that the studio made the sequel even without renewing the rights they obtained for the first film.

Now Paramount has stated that the new picture is a work of fiction and has not taken any ideas from the decades-old magazine article.&nbsp;

As per the People, the studio stated: ''Any similarity between these vastly different works derives from the fact that Top Gun is an actual naval training facility."

The studio's lawyers added.&nbsp;"Plaintiffs do not have a monopoly over works about Top Gun."

In the lawsuit, the writer's family claimed that the sequel has a lot of similarities with the article. However, denying that, the studio wrote in the new&nbsp;motion, “Elite fighter pilots loving to fly, and being dedicated to their craft and competitive, are facts described in the Article,”&nbsp;

“Plaintiffs do not have a monopoly over these (unremarkable) facts merely because Yonay once reported on them.”

The studio also argues that there are so common similarities between the article and the sequel, on which&nbsp;one can prove their&nbsp;claim.&nbsp;

Copyright law allows authors to reclaim the rights of their works after 35 years. Variety reports that Yonay died in 2012, but his widow and son filed a notice in 2018&nbsp;terminating the studio’s copyright to the article.

As per the reports, Yonays also demanded a lump sum money as the damages including the profits, income and the attorneys' fees.

The next court hearing is scheduled on September 26.

Tom Cruise 'Top Gun' beats 'Avengers: Infinity War'! Becomes 6th highest grossing domestic film

As Hollywood star Tom Cruise's 'Top Gun: Maverick' continues to soar at the box-office, producer Christopher McQuarrie and the 60-year-old actor are in the early phases of creating three diverse projects, Deadline reported. While both are still working on 'Mission: Impossible 8', recently, Cruise was spotted rehearsing what appears to be his next thrilling action sequence in the UK's Lake District.

Sources have claimed that Cruise and McQuarrie are developing three movies. One is said to be an original song-and-dance musical that will be a "star vehicle for Cruise." Another is termed an original which will be an action movie with a "franchise potential." The outlet noted that Cruise has been "interested in doing a musical" for a very long time, adding that the actor learned to sing for the 2012 musical film 'Rock of Ages'.&nbsp;

McQuarrie and Cruise will co-write the scripts for all three of these films.

Meanwhile, Cruise and McQuarrie are "fixated" on Les Grossman’s character from the 2008 comedy ‘Tropic Thunder,’ where Cruise played a cameo of a fat, foul-mouthed movie studio executive, Deadline stated. However, it is unsure if the duo will form a complete film around Grossman or just take clues from the character for&nbsp;either of the projects.

In addition, Cruise plans to develop another untitled movie with McQuarrie and director Doug Liman. The ones that they will shoot will be for NASA and Elon Musk's SpaceX, for which Universal has agreed to be the studio, stated the outlet. They have partnered with SEE-1, the recently launched Space Entertainment Enterprise (S.E.E.) by film producer pair Elena and Dmitry Lesnevsky, which could be in control of Axiom's world-first commercial space station, Axiom Station, while being connected to the International Space Station (ISS).

Tom Cruise`s fighter-jet adventure `Top Gun: Maverick` has toppled `Titanic` as the seventh-biggest film ever at the domestic box office, earning $662 million in ticket sales. According to Variety, in the 110-year history of Paramount, "Top Gun: Maverick" has also surpassed "Titanic" as the studio`s most popular movie with $1.5 billion abroad and $2.2 billion worldwide.

It`s impressive that "Top Gun: Maverick" has made the same amount of money internationally as it did at home; the worldwide total for the movie is $690 million. The blockbuster sequel to 1986`s "Top Gun" has earned $1.3 billion worldwide without being seen in China or Russia.

Thanks to glowing word-of-mouth and repeat customers, "Top Gun: Maverick" is pulling in audiences in a way that would have been monumental even prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, it`s close to reaching Marvel`s epic superhero mashup "Avengers: Infinity War," which currently stands as the sixth-highest grossing domestic release ever with $678 million.

Beyond that, "Black Panther" ($700 million), "Avatar" ($760 million), "Spider-Man: No Way Home" ($804 million), "Avengers: Endgame" ($853 million), and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ($936 million) make out the list of the top five domestic films ever.

"Top Gun: Maverick" has been a box office power since the movie opened in May and broke the Memorial Day weekend opening record with $160.5 million. For 10 weeks, the movie remained in the top five of the weekend rankings. It is Cruise`s first film to gross more than $100 million in a single weekend and to top $1 billion globally.

American director-writer Quentin Tarantino is among the many moviegoers who fell in love with actor Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, which is a sequel to his 1986 film of the same name. The ‘Pulp Fiction’ director visited the ‘ReelBlend’ podcast this week and was all gushing over the Tom Cruise follow-up movie and had nothing but positive things to say about the actor and the film.&nbsp;

"I f***ing love ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’ I thought it was fantastic," Tarantino said. "I saw it at the theaters. That and [Steven] Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’ both provided a true cinematic spectacle, the kind that I’d almost thought that I wasn’t going to see anymore. It was fantastic."

Tarantino has openly admired Tony Scott, who directed the original ‘Top Gun’ and also ‘True Romance’, the script that came from Tarantino. Scott passed away in 2012. The ‘Top Gun’ sequel, which Tarantino believes was the closest to a Tony Scott film that audiences will ever see, now that he is no longer with us. "There was just this lovely, lovely aspect because I love both Tony Scott’s cinema so much and I love Tony so much that that’s as close as we’re ever going to get to seeing one more Tony Scott movie," Tarantino said.&nbsp;

It was consciously right there, but in this really cool way that was really respectful. And I think it was in every decision Tom (Cruise) made on the film."

Quentin Tarantino gushes over Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun’ sequel; calls it 'spectacle'

Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' daughter Suri Cruise has made her on-screen singing debut in the recently released film 'Alone Together.' The film has been directed by her mother. The actress revealed that she has recruited her 16-year-old daughter, Suri, to sing the cover song ‘Blue Moon’ for the opening credits of the film, which is based on a COVID-inspired romance.&nbsp;

In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Holmes explains why she hired Suri for the project. "I always want the highest level of talent. So, I asked her. She’s very, very talented. She said she would do it, and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That’s the way I direct in general. It's like, ‘This is what I think we all want -- go do your thing,’" she said.&nbsp;

While speaking to the outlet, she said that this "will not be her daughter’s only on-screen singing gig."

"Suri has sung for ‘Rare Objects,’ which is the film we did last fall. Other than that, she's a 16-year-old kid doing high school," Holmes added.&nbsp;

Katie also shared that Suri has a special connection to classic ballads. Cruise and Kate were married from 2006 to 2012, and Suri is their only child. The couple has opted to keep her out of the public eye for the majority of her childhood.

The actress also made a poignant reflection on how the pandemic has given her the chance to "live for a moment in time without the pressure of results". In an essay, she wrote for Vogue Australia, Katie added, "During this time of uncertainty, remembering to be creative and positive has been something I have tried to keep at the forefront of my mind."

Speaking of ‘Alone Together’, it's a romantic comedy inspired by the coronavirus pandemic. The film is written and directed by Holmes. She also stars in it alongside Jim Sturgess, which follows the story of a man and a woman fleeing New York City during the first wave of the pandemic in 2020. The duo ends up booking the same Airbnb and ultimately decides to stay at the upstate property together.

Praising Holmes’ directing style, Sturgess told Fox News that she provides actors with a lot of leeways when they are in front of the camera. "She gives you this incredible space between action and cut. She very rarely shouted, ‘Cut!’ actually. You'd think the scene had ended and she just kind of left it hanging. I love that she was always searching for those little nuggets of authenticity," he said about Katie.&nbsp;
