Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel wants more consistency from his side after an up and down start to the season and has called on his players to replicate their opening 4-0 league win at Werder Bremen when they face Augsburg on Sunday.

The Bavarians, who won an 11th straight league title when Borussia Dortmund slipped up on the final matchday, kicked off the domestic season with a 3-0 German Super Cup loss at home to RB Leipzig. They followed that up with an emphatic league victory over Werder on Friday and Tuchel wants more of the same.

"We have to accept criticism and to keep working on the things that we had the impression we were already further ahead," Tuchel said this week of their topsy-turvy start. "We want to reduce the number of ups and downs we have during the match and between matches."

He had far harsher words for his players immediately after their loss to Leipzig, saying they looked as if they had not undergone four weeks of intense pre-season training.

"Those (two matches) were an example of how extremely different we can play between Saturday and Friday and we hope, in the positive sense, to bring in stability and reduce that amplitude," added Tuchel.

The arrival of Harry Kane, who scored one goal and set up another on his Bundesliga debut against Werder, has boosted Bayern's hopes of a potential Champions League-winning attack this season.

But Tuchel also wants to sign a defensive-minded midfielder, saying Germany international Joshua Kimmich cannot fill that role as he wants the freedom to be more involved in the game.

Kimmich has said he could play in the position but Bayern may again dip into the transfer market.

Dortmund started with a nervous 1-0 over visiting Cologne thanks to Donyell Malen's 88th minute winner.

Coach Edin Terzic is under far less pressure than his Bayern counterpart, however, with club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke heaping praise on the 40-year-old this week.

Dortmund have a trip to local rivals Vfl Bochum on Saturday while Bayer Leverkusen, who stunned RB Leipzig 3-2 in their opener last week to emerge as potential title contenders, travel to Borussia Moenchengladbach the same day.

Bayern Munich overran a hapless Borussia Dortmund to win Der Klassiker 4-2 on Saturday as three goals in the opening 23 minutes helped them reclaim top spot in the Bundesliga and hand new coach Thomas Tuchel a winning start.

The Bavarians, who face Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals on April 11, were in ominous form as they went back into top spot on 55 points, leaving Dortmund two behind in second place with eight matches remaining.

With Tuchel, who also coached Dortmund from 2015-2107, having replaced Julian Nagelsmann on the Bayern bench, the hosts were all over their title rivals from the start.

Nagelsmann, 35, led Bayern to the quarter-finals of the Champions League where they will face Premier League champions Manchester City next month. But the club decided to replace him with 49-year-old Tuchel, who won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021.

The record German champions have won the Bundesliga for 10 consecutive seasons and are bidding for the 11th title. Moreover, with a tough run in the Bundesliga expected while a last eight clash against Manchester City in the Champions League also to come, the board believed that Tuchel was the right man for the job.

Bayern signed Nagelsmann to a five-year deal just two years ago but nerves have been fraying as the perennial Bundesliga champions struggle to hold onto their title. They sit second to Tuchel's former club Borussia Dortmund in the league table. Tuchel -- who Bayern had eyed previously but lost out to other top-flight European clubs -- has been in between jobs after he was fired by Chelsea in September.

His first match will come as soon as April 1, when Bayern meet&nbsp; Dortmund, the club that Tuchel led from 2015-2017 before he left for PSG.

Both coaches were eventually shown the red card by match referee Anthony Taylor who had let them off with a warning and a yellow card, earlier in the match.&nbsp;

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said on Friday he expects discussions over the Premier League club`s sale to intensify over the coming weeks, but he was unsure if he should be meeting potential owners. 
The German said last month that he was fully committed to the team and willing to adapt to a new owner`s demands.

European champions Chelsea were initially put up for sale by owner Roman Abramovich following Russia`s invasion of Ukraine before sanctions were imposed on the oligarch by the British government, effectively giving it control of the club. The Ricketts family and groups led by Martin Broughton and Todd Boehly are among the bidders to have been included on a shortlist of potential buyers. British media also reported that Stephen Pagliuca, joint owner of NBA team Boston Celtics, could also be in the running.

"I am not sure if I could tell you the names. It`s my information that it`s down to four and in the next weeks there should be further talks and negotiations," Tuchel told a news conference ahead of Saturday`s Premier League game against Brentford. "I`m not sure if they want to (meet me) and I`m not sure if I should (meet them). Maybe it`s best for me to be involved as late as possible in this." Tuchel also hailed the British government`s decision to amend its operating licence to allow supporters of the club to buy tickets to away games.

We need our spectators behind us, so if we are a little bit less, they have to compensate for those missing."
