In the reserve&nbsp;list, the likes of Md Shami, Ravi Bishnoi, Deepak Chahar and Shreyas Iyer were roped in. The main squad primarily features the players who featured in the Asia Cup -- where India failed to make it to the final -- and, thus, many former cricketers and experts of the game have shared their take on India's line-up.

Aakash Chopra, former Indian opener-turned-commentator-cum-expert, also joined the bandwagon and feels Yuzvendra Chahal is the only 'legit wicket-taking option'.

You are not thinking about Kuldeep at all, which is slightly disappointing, but he could also have been a wicket-taking option. But you didn't think about either of them."

Sanju Samson's snub from India's T20 World Cup 2022 squad has left many disappointed. The fans were hoping the selectors would give a chance to the talented wicket-keeper batter, who has the ability to play big shots and could have been an 'x-factor' for India in the tournament down under.

However, Samson, who has not been a regular feature for India in T20Is over the last few months, was left out as the selectors went with Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant as the two wicket-keeper batters in the team. Samson's name was reportedly not even discussed in the selection meeting and he is not even part of the standby players for the tournament.

His non-selection has, however, left many baffled and fans have slammed the selectors over the lack of chances for the wicket-keeper batter. Former India chief selector MSK Prasad was recently asked for his take on the selectors' call to not pick Samson and he called it the right decision.

Prasad argued there is no one in the 15-man squad who could have been potentially replaced by Samson. He also explained why Samson didn't even make it to the standby list and said if he was in the team management's plans, he would have played in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022.

“The question is, Sanju Samson, in place of who?" Prasad told&nbsp;The Indian Express.

“Deepak Hooda gives you that extra bowling option. He can bat anywhere like Sanju, and Shreyas has done well in the home series against Sri Lanka and then in the West Indies. If the team management wanted to pick Sanju, they would have given him an opportunity in the Asia Cup or the upcoming home series against South Africa and Australia," he added.

Samson has so far played only six T20Is for India this year but has scored an impressive 179 runs at an average of 44.75. The wicket-keeper batter, who made his T20I debut for India in 2015, has been around for a while now but has not quite managed to live up to his full potential.

After BCCI announced India's 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has shared an interesting suggestion for Rohit Sharma &amp; Co. The ex-Indian batter has suggested Rohit to take an MS Dhoni-like gamble in the forthcoming showpiece event, to be held in Australia from October-November.

Jaffer wants Rohit to promote Rishabh Pant up the order and use him as an opener with vice-captain KL Rahul. Given Pant can play the big shots at will, he can utilise the powerplay overs and take the pressure off Rahul, who is generally criticised for his strike rate. Nonetheless, Rohit's demotion at No. 4 can be a big gamble -- despite the fact that he used to bat at that position early in his career -- but Jaffer feels it can be the right way forward.

In the reserve list, Md Shami, Deepak Chahar, Shreyas Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi were named. Former Indian captain and chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar opened up on India's squad for the showpiece event, in Australia from October-November, and named the star player who can be Men in Blue's finisher. While the squad features some known finishers such as Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant, Vengsarkar feels Suryakumar Yadav can do the tough job at the forthcoming ICC event.

"I can’t really comment on who bats at what number. It is up to the think tank, the coach, the captain and the vice-captain. But I feel Suryakumar Yadav, who is batting at 4, can bat at 5 as well. He can be a great finisher," Vengsarkar was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

"T20 is not like ODIs and Test cricket, where you need certain batters at certain positions. In this format, anybody can bat anywhere. You don’t have time to settle down. One should go after the bowlers from ball one," he opined.

SKY ended the Asia Cup with 139 runs -- eighth-highest overall&nbsp;and second-most among Indians -- including a breathtaking 26-ball 68 not out versus Hong Kong.

Samson was overlooked as India picked Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant as the two wicket-keeper batters in the 15-man squad for the tournament in Australia next month.

Samson, who last featured for India on their tour of Zimbabwe last month, was backed by many fans on Twitter for his brilliant stroke-playing ability and swashbuckling style. However, he was reportedly never in contention to make the cut in India's squad for the T20 World Cup this year.

As per PTI, Samson was not in contention and his name was not even discussed during the meeting between the selectors on Monday ahead of the announcement of the squad. Pant was an obvious choice considering he is the only left-hander that can play in the top five in the absence of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

"Sanju in any case will be playing the ODIs against South Africa as selectors will maintain the continuity from the Zimbabwe tour. Also there was never any discussions on dropping Pant. While Samson's talent and skills have never been doubted, he has struggled for consistency ever since first bursting onto the scene with his exploits in the Indian Premier League (IPL) a few years back. He has now matured with age and has significantly improved his game but is yet to cement his spot in the Indian team in white-ball cricket.

Apart from the debate over the selection of players, India's disappointing performance in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022 was also discussed during the meeting on Monday. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah were also present and it was pointed out that India's performance in the middle order&nbsp;was concerning.

"Yes, the Asia Cup performance was discussed. But obviously, more than problems, the focus is on solutions and what are the things that needs to be improved during the T20 World Cup," a&nbsp;BCCI official told PTI.

"There is an obvious issue with batting during the middle overs, especially between 7th to 15th where we haven't done well in the Asia Cup. Obviously, the team's think-tank is aware and we have some world-class players, who can obviously change their game as per team's needs," he added.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (September 12) announced India's 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. There are no major surprises in the squad as fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have returned after recovering well from their respective injuries.

The BCCI selection committee met on Monday afternoon to pick the squad after India's disappointing campaign in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022 where the team failed to make it to the final. India's bowling woes were left exposed in the tournament and the pace attack has been strengthened for the World Cup with the return of Bumrah and Harshal.

Both the pacers had missed the bus for Asia Cup after suffering injuries. They have now fully recovered and have been undergoing training at the National Cricket&nbsp; Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Bumrah and Harshal will spearhead India's pace battery alongside the experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh.

Sehwag further asserted, “I learnt this from Sachin Tendulkar. Whenever he came into the team, I never saw him lifting more than 6-8kg weights. I asked him, 'what's the point of lifting such low weights?' He replied, 'this is my maintenance. I've to play a match, I'm only doing this to keep my rhythm intact, so that I don't lose my power'. You see the players these days, Virat Kohli and others posting videos of lifting 50-60-70 kg weights during a series, which actually increases the chances of injury,” he concluded.

Ravindra Jadeja sustained a knee injury during the group stage of the Asia Cup 2022 edition. With him being ruled out, India went onto lose&nbsp;their first two games in the Super Four round and have bowed out of the competition with one game to play.

Jadeja's injury came as a huge setback for the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team in the continental tournament. He attained a wicket and remained economical versus Pakistan and Hong Kong, respectively, and played a crucial 29-ball 35 versus the Men in Green in Men in Blue's tournament-opener. While his knee surgery has been successful, he is expected to begin his rehabilitation&nbsp;to become fit for the 2022 T20 World Cup (head coach Rahul Dravid hasn't ruled out the possibility of his&nbsp;comeback as yet).

Despite him being a vital cog across formats for India, former Indian stumper and chief selector Saba Karim made a bold claim on the 33-year-old Jadeja. Karim feels Jaddu's comeback won't be that easy while speaking on Sports18. He said,&nbsp;“It's a tough phase for him because whenever he comes back, he has always done well and for him to get injured at such a critical juncture in his career is not so easy."

Karim added, "But I think with age, it may not be easy for him to do that. So I think he needs to go back and work on his rehab and then try and come back. But more importantly, I feel that it’s your mindset, the kind of preparation you do before you come back on the field after your injury."

India will be desperate to regain Jadeja's services going into the 2022 T20 WC, in Australia, given they fell flat in the Asia Cup following his exit.
