<p>Veteran India batter Shikhar Dhawan posted an emotional note on his son Zoravar’s birthday on his Instagram handle, revealing he hasn’t seen him in a long time as he was blocked from contacting his son on every platform for over a year. Dhawan posted a screenshot of him video calling his son some time ago and wrote that he misses him and is proud of him.</p>

<p>Following an unsuccessful marriage, Dhawan separated from his now estranged wife, Aesha Mukherji, with the court granting them a divorce in October.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Although the grounds for the divorce were cited as ‘cruelty’ inflicted on Dhawan by Aesha, Judge Harish Kumar accepted Dhawan’s allegations of his wife’s attempts to keep their son away from him and pressurising him into financial decisions.</p>

<p>As per the court’s order, as a parent, Dhawan was granted mandatory visiting rights to meet his son in India and Australia, where he resides with Aesha. The court also ordered Aesha to facilitate bringing Zoravar to India for visiting purposes, especially during school holidays. During that visit, Zoravar would be spending time (overnight) with his father, Shikhar and his family.</p>

<p>However, despite these orders from the court, Shikhar Dhawan revealed he faced trouble maintaining contact with his son.</p>

<p>Dhawan, who last played for India in December 2022, until this time, was the preferred stand-in captain every time first-team players got rested for any series. Having missed out on making the cut this time, Dhawan expressed his disappointment over the same but remains optimistic about an India call-up soon.</p>

<p>Speaking with PTI, Dhawan said he expected to get picked in the squad for the Asian Games. As he accepted&nbsp;the selectors' call to overlook him for reasons unknown to him and the fans, Dhawan admitted to being happy for Ruturaj Gaikwad and the young squad.</p>

<p>"When my name was not there, I was a bit shocked. But, then, I was like they have a different thought process, you just have to accept it," Dhawan to PTI. "Happy that Rutu [Gaikwad] will lead the side. All the young boys are there, I am sure they will do well."</p>

<h2>Staying fit is still a priority for Dhawan</h2>

<p>India’s finest batter in ICC tournaments since 2013, Dhawan said he continues to work on his fitness should an India return comes calling.</p>

<p>"I will be ready, of course. That is why I keep myself fit. There is always a chance whether it is 1% or 20%.</p>

<p>"I still enjoy training, and I still enjoy the game; these are the things in my control. Whatever decision is made, I respect that."</p>

<p>Adding he is yet to speak with any national selector, Dhawan said he keeps going to NCA for his training – something he enjoys.</p>

<p>"I have not spoken to any selector [about my future]. I keep going to National Cricket Academy [in Bengaluru]. I enjoy my time there, the facilities are great. NCA has shaped my career, and I am grateful for it."</p>

<p>Known to be optimistic and grateful at heart, Dhawan echoed his true feelings, saying he is in a happy space. Dhawan, who also captains Punjab Kings in the IPL, wishes to lift the trophy with the franchise next year.</p>

<p>"I am in a very happy state of mind. I am very blessed to have such an amazing career and contribute to the Indian team.</p>

<p>"At this stage, you go year by year. Physically I am very fit and I have an IPL to win for Punjab Kings. Hopefully, we can do that next year," Dhawan said.</p>

Butt thinks that India need experience in middle-order which Rahane can provide.</p>

I don't see any of the top-order batters, among right-handers, who can open as good as him. Either Shikhar and Shubman (Gill) can open and Rohit comes one down, or Rohit can open with Shikhar. They need experience in World Cup. They also need a guy in at no.5/6, either it's Rahul or Rahane. When there's pressure, the youngsters stutter. You need experience, the pressure gets to you,” said Butt.</p>

Smashing Washington Sundar all over the place, Rohit joined Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner to reach the milestone.</p>

<p>The Indian captain has enjoyed a stellar career in the IPL, having lifted the trophy on six occasions and is also the most successful captain in the history of the tournament with five titles. Rohit first burst onto the IPL scene in 2008 with Deccan Chargers and would add his first IPL title in 2009 when the edition was played in South Africa. He would then leave Deccan Chargers for Mumbai Indians in 2011 and has been a pivotal figure in their success since then.</p>

<p>It took Rohit 232 matches (227 innings) to complete 6000 runs and has scored 41 fifties and one hundred in the IPL.</p>

IPL 2023: Rohit Sharma becomes fourth player to complete 6000 runs; joins Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan

<p>After a shocking loss at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), courtesy of Rinku Singh's unbelievable finish, defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) got back to winning ways as they beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets in an intense run-chase of 154 at the IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on Thursday evening (April 13). With this win, GT now have six points from four games and occupy the third spot in the points table.</p>

<p>Opting to bowl first, GT removed Yash Dayal from the playing XI -- who conceded 29 off the last over versus KKR -- as Mohit Sharma, India's 2015 ODI World Cup member, got the nod in the playing XI. Mohammed Shami struck early as he removed Prabhsimran Singh for duck (second on the trot). In-form skipper Shikhar Dhawan also departed for eight as PBKS was on the back foot in the powerplay overs.</p>

<p>While Bhanuka Rajapaksa (20 off 26) and Matthew Short (36 off 24) added runs for the side, the duo couldn't make the most of their starts as GT bowlers remained disciplined and didn't allow Punjab to dictate terms.</p>

<p>In reply, GT started off with a bang courtesy of Wriddhiman Saha. He has been in attacking mode in the powerplays and played his part with a promising 19-ball 30 before Shubman Gill took the onus upon himself. Scoring his second fifty of the season, Gill held one end and kept the scoreboard moving without dropping much sweat.</p>

<p>Gill lost Sai Sudharshan and captain Hardik and eventually succumbed&nbsp;to pressure as the chase reached the final over. He was dismissed for 67 (49) but GT's trusted finishers Rahul Tewatia (5* off 2) and David Miller, unbeaten on 17 (18),&nbsp;negated Sam Curran's death-bowling threat to register a six-wicket win&nbsp;and a ball&nbsp;to spare.</p>

After a shocking loss at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), courtesy of Rinku Singh's unbelievable finish, defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) got back to winning ways as they beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets in an intense run-chase of 154 at the IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on Thursday evening (April 13). With this win, GT now have six points from four games and occupy the third spot in the points table. Opting to bowl first, GT removed Yash Dayal from the playing XI -- who conceded 29 off the last over versus KKR -- as Mohit Sharma, India's 2015 ODI World Cup member, got the nod in the playing XI. Mohammed Shami struck early as he removed Prabhsimran Singh for duck (second on the trot). In-form skipper Shikhar Dhawan also departed for eight as PBKS was on the back foot in the powerplay overs. While Bhanuka Rajapaksa (20 off 26) and Matthew Short (36 off 24) added runs for the side, the duo couldn't make the most of their starts as GT bowlers remained disciplined and didn't allow Punjab to dictate terms. He was dismissed for 67 (49) but GT's trusted finishers Rahul Tewatia (5* off 2) and David Miller, unbeaten on 17 (18), negated Sam Curran's death-bowling threat to register a six-wicket win and a ball to spare. IPL 2023: Suresh Raina backs Shikhar Dhawan after incredible show with bat, says 'He batted responsibly'

<p>Punjab Kings opener Prabhsimran Singh finally hit his maiden IPL fifty in his fifth season, against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on Wednesday night. After adapting the daring approach this season, the right-handed batter found success with the bat, having scored 23 and 23 and 60 in two games played. Particularly against Rajasthan, he took the attack to the opposition and had their backs against the wall in no time.</p>

<p>Upon completing his maiden IPL fifty, Simran thanked God and showered praises on his fellow opener and Punjab captain, Shikhar Dhawan for backing him throughout.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I’m very thankful to God for my first fifty in five years of playing the IPL. It was an enjoyable knock, and I hope to continue like this,” Simran told Jitesh Sharma in a video posted by IPL on its social media handles.</p>

<p>“Shikhar Dhawan asked me if he should take strike since I had never faced Trent Boult before, but I told him I’ll take the strike. He backed me throughout my innings. Whenever we spoke to each other while batting, he told me to play my natural game and express myself, the rest I’ll handle,” Prabhsimran added.</p>

<p>Speaking about what changed for him this season or what is the secret behind his little success so far, the right-hander said that working hard on both fronts – batting and wicket-keeping, brought him laurels.</p>

<p>“There are no secrets (to his recent consistency), but there’s a lot of preparation around my fitness, batting and wicket-keeping. I try and practice in the nets just like I would in a match,” he added.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Punjab will now take on struggling SunRisers Hyderabad in an away game on April 9th on Sunday.</p>

Particularly against Rajasthan, he took the attack to the opposition and had their backs against the wall in no time. Upon completing his maiden IPL fifty, Simran thanked God and showered praises on his fellow opener and Punjab captain, Shikhar Dhawan for backing him throughout. “I’m very thankful to God for my first fifty in five years of playing the IPL. It was an enjoyable knock, and I hope to continue like this,” Simran told Jitesh Sharma in a video posted by IPL on its social media handles. Speaking about what changed for him this season or what is the secret behind his little success so far, the right-hander said that working hard on both fronts – batting and wicket-keeping, brought him laurels. “There are no secrets (to his recent consistency), but there’s a lot of preparation around my fitness, batting and wicket-keeping.
