"Look, the FIR is just the first information letter and they are yet to claim any charge as far as I know, so before that, it is difficult to take a decision. The relationship between BCB and Shakib Al Hasan is like a player and an employer according to the contract. After tomorrow, we can think exactly after getting the legal notice and based on that. I cannot withdraw him from the middle of the Test match," he said.

"The second Test match is from August 30, so there is a gap between the games. During this period, we can think about what can be done in this regard," he added.

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has slammed Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al-Hasan for his poor form at the ongoing T20 World Cup. Sehwag suggested Shakib had overstayed his welcome in the shortest format of the game and that he should come forward and announce retirement.&nbsp;

The Indian opener ripped into Shakib after the all-rounder could not engineer a 114-run chase against South Africa, despite coming in to bat at no. 4.&nbsp;

"During the last World Cup, I thought he should no longer be picked for the T20 format. Time for retirement came a long time ago. You are such a senior player, you were the captain of this team. You should actually be ashamed of your recent numbers. You should come forward and announce yourself that enough is enough, I'm retiring from this format," said Sehwag on Cricbuzz.

The verbal onslaught continued from Sehwag who said Shakib was a Bangladeshi player and that he did not need to emulate the Australian greats such as Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden.&nbsp;

"If you are picked in the World Cup squad for your experience, then show that it was actually worth it. You need to spend some time at the crease at least. <h2>Tough task for Bangladesh</h2>

Bangladesh are still in contention of making it to the Super 8 stage of the tournament, having won the first match against Sri Lanka. However, the team has looked far from convincing and Shakib's form has been a major part of the poor performances.&nbsp;

In the opener against Sri Lanka, Shakib only managed eight off 14 deliveries while against the Proteas, Anrich Nortje troubled him with his express pace.&nbsp;

With matches against Netherlands and Nepal upcoming, Shakib and Bangladesh will have to bring their A-game to secure qualification. Despite being a regular at the big-boys table for the last decade, Bangladesh's performance in the ICC tournaments has been nothing to write home about.&nbsp;

It is disappointing that umpires couldn't step in and make the right decision," said Mendis.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, winning captain Scott Edwards said the team set its plans ahead of the match and managed to execute them.&nbsp;

"We were saying if we could get 220 plus, we were in the game. The bottom-order guys got us to a very competitive total. The bowlers have been awesome. Aryan, Colin, Bas everyone. We have been superb on the field. Bit of everything," said&nbsp;Edwards.&nbsp;

The Dutch captain has introduced the 'total cricket' brand of playing, inspired by football and so far, it has worked wonders for them. He added that the system back home was finally producing players that could sustain the rigours of international cricket.&nbsp;

"The system's getting a bit more professional back in the Netherlands. We've had a good 18 months, we expect big things from our players. We feel we're putting in a lot of work and it's nice to get the results. We always spoke at the start of the tournament of giving us a chance to make the semis."

For his brilliant four-wicket haul, Dutch pacer&nbsp;Paul van Meekeren was adjudged the Player of the Match.&nbsp;

"Pretty special day. We’ve said earlier we want to go till the semis, and for that we need to win games. It was a great comeback after the performance against Australia. You have to keep winning matches if you have to make the final four."

“He had a good batting session yesterday and did a little bit of running between the wickets as well. We did a scan today, we are waiting for the result. At the moment, he is okay,” Hathurusingha said on the eve of the contest.

It is understood that he has not yet bowled in the nets which could come as a blow for the Men in Green. Shakib has been a prime contributor for Bangladesh with both bat and ball and has scored 55 runs. On the bowling side, he has five wickets in three matches which highlights his importance to the team.

“We haven't tried with him bowling yet. We will assess him again and we will make a decision. If he is not ready to play, we won't risk him. But if he is ready, then there is a chance of him playing tomorrow,” Hathurusingha added.

As per the latest report, an unnamed Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official provided an update on Shakib’s fitness, saying he is unsure of his availability for the India game.&nbsp;

"I am not sure whether he is available for the next game or not, but there is certainly some doubt since he has sustained a slight tear," a BCB official said on Saturday, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz starred for Bangladesh, picking three wickets and hitting 57, as Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by six wickets in their ODI World Cup opener in Dharamsala.

Electing to bowl first after winning the toss at the beautiful Dharamsala Cricket Ground, Bangladesh leaked early runs, conceding 47 before picking the first wicket inside the ninth over. Rahmat Shah and Rahmanullah Gurbaz added a few more runs to hold Afghanistan’s honour&nbsp;before the cluster of wickets staged their downfall.

Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi contributed with some runs before Bangladeshi bowlers broke their backbone with swift strikes. Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan and all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz were the protagonists in bowling, picking six wickets. Both returned with three wickets each.

From 112 for three at one stage, Afghanistan’s batting tumbled', as their innings got wrapped up on a mere 156. Besides veteran Mahmudullah, each bowler picked a wicket as Bangladesh made light work of their Asian counterparts.

Upon picking Hathurusingha’s old quotes during the pre-match presser on the game eve, wherein he talked about Bangladesh winning the World Cup as a dream, the head coach reacted without mincing words. He said his job is to ensure the players are not under pressure, and while they must aim for the sky, realising the ground reality is as important for everyone.

The head coach added that, as a team, reaching the semis is their goal, while aiming to win the World Cup will remain a dream for now.

Remaining aware of the situation, Hathurusingha&nbsp;said winning four or five games will be the initial goal for the team, and they can then aim higher as the tournament progresses.

"We all want to win the World Cup. Since you asked me our realistic goal, if we can win four or five matches we can get into the semi-finals. This is our first target. We have a good enough team to do this. We have to reach the semi-final stage,” he added.

<h2>Who will open in Tamim’s absence?</h2>

While Bangladesh has two options – young Tanzid Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, to pick from to open alongside Litton Das, Hathurusingha&nbsp;said the final call will be made on the game day.&nbsp;

"We have two options [to take Tamim's spot]. We will be in a better place to make that decision tomorrow morning," the coach said.&nbsp;

"We will see if we bat first or second, and then take a decision. The wicket looks really good for one-day cricket. It has a nice covering of grass. I think it will be a really good sporting wicket. We are expecting high scoring on this ground. We will decide the combination tomorrow morning," he added.
