Broad, who announced his decision to step aside from cricket during the fifth Ashes Test against Australia at the Oval in London, said he relishes watching Afridi bowl, adding he loves how Shaheen executes those searing in-swingers to right-handers.</p>

<p>After delivering goods in the Vitality T20 Blast, Shaheen is now plying his trade for the Welsh Fire in The Hundred and even made headlines here with his toe-crushing yorkers.</p>

<p>Speaking with Sky Sports, Broad, who ended his Test career with 604 wickets – second-most by any seamer in the red-ball format, talked highly of Afridi, saying he has a different presence about himself and that Afridi is one of his favourite bowlers to watch.</p>

<p>“Shaheen Shah Afridi is one of my favourite bowlers to watch in the world,” Broad said to Sky Sports. “He has got such a great presence about him when he runs in, and I love bowlers run in with energy and vibrancy to their run-up.</p>

<p>“He has got such a natural skill – the way that ball swings back into the right-handers is such a pleasure to watch.</p>

<p>“And he represented the Notts Outlaws this summer, which is close to my heart. He’s one of the bowlers I admire hugely, and I want to see him do well,” Broad added.</p>

<h2>Afridi gears up for mega event</h2>

<p>The lanky seamer brought his A-game to his first match in The Hundred against Manchester Originals, picking up two wickets on his first balls. He removed Phil Salt caught behind, and then trapped Laurie Evans plumb in front of a searing yorker on the next one.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, earlier, Afridi, in the recently-concluded two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, returned to this format after almost one year. Pakistan’s premier pacer picked four wickets in two innings, and is now getting ready for the mega multi-team event in Asia Cup 2023, scheduled to begin in August end (co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka).</p>

<p>Following the Asia Cup, Afridi will likely play the three-match ODIs against Afghanistan (in Sri Lanka) before the World Cup 2023 gets underway in October-November.</p>

<p>While according to the original schedule, Pakistan was facing the host India in the marquee clash on October 15, per receiving several requests from the unnamed board members, the BCCI, in consultation with the ICC, is said to have made amends to the schedule.</p>

<p>Per the new schedule, which is yet to get released, India and Pakistan will face off a day prior, i.e. on October 14 in Ahmedabad only.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Lahore Qalandars became the first team to win back-to-back Pakistan Super League titles on Saturday, beating Multan Sultans by one run in a thrilling final.</p>

<p>Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi took 4-51 after smashing a rapid 44 not out but had to effect a run out at the bowler's end as Multan's Khushdil Shah tried to make a third run to force a super over.</p>

<p>Qalandars had scored 200-6 in their 20 overs before a packed 25,000 Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and Sultans finished on 199-8.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Qalandars had also defeated Sultans in last year's final.</p>

<p>Shaheen conceded 34 runs in his opening two overs as Sultans raced to 101-1 in 10 overs, with Rilee Rossouw (52) and Mohammad Rizwan (34) adding 64 for the second wicket.</p>

<p>"We reached the final again and won the title for a second time so that's a reward for teamwork," said Shaheen.</p>

<p>"We played well in the final but it was a tense win."</p>

<p>Earlier, Qalandars were lifted by a rampaging Shaheen who clobbered a 15-ball 44 not out with five towering sixes and two fours, helping his team smash 85 runs in the last five overs.</p>

<p>Abdullah Shafique top-scored with a 40-ball 65.</p>

<p>Shafique and Fakhar Zaman (39) took Qalandars to 95-1 after their team won the toss and batted and opener Mirza Baig hammered an 18-ball 30.</p>

<p>But once Zaman was dismissed, Qalandars lost four wickets in the space of 18 balls, slumping to 112-5.</p>

<p>Shaheen promoted himself to number seven and instantly made an impact, as he and Shafique hit 24 runs in the 17th over from pacer Ihsanullah.</p>

<p>Leg-spinner Usama Mir was the pick of Sultans' bowlers with 3-24.</p>

<p>In pursuit of the 138-run target at the MCG, England got off to a stuttering start as Hales departed cheaply after scoring just 1 run off two deliveries. The half-centurion from the semi-final against India was bamboozled by a stunning delivery from Afridi in the first over.</p>

<p>After Hales's departure, Philip Salt came out to bat at number three and failed to make an impact as he too was dismissed cheaply on just 10 off nine balls. Haris Rauf got Salt caught off his bowling in the fourth over to dent England's run-chase before striking against to dismiss dangerous Buttler on 26 off 17 balls.</p>

<p>However, Buttler managed to put England in a good position in the powerplay with his fiery start. Nonetheless, England lost three crucial wickets in the powerplay and will be hoping to recover well in the 138-run chase.&nbsp;The Buttled-led side has an incredible batting depth and will be backing themselves to nail down the target.</p>

After witnessing the players bag stunning deals at the IPL auction, a Pakistani journalist ended up making a tall claim on Twitter. The journalist claimed that Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi would have earned a deal of Rs 200 crore (INR 2 billion) had he been part of the IPL mega auction this year. While top players from across the globe are part of the IPL mega auction, the Pakistani players are not included due to the suspended cricketing ties between the two nations. India have not played bilateral cricket with Pakistan since 2013 and Pakistani cricketers have not been part of the IPL since the first edition of the tournament in 2008. The journo was not spared by cricket fans online as he was brutally roasted for his tall claim. <p>"It has to be the chance to work with some excellent young fast-bowlers. Who wouldn't want to work with <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/cricket-pakistan-seal-triumphant-test-cricket-return-with-sri-lanka-win-269656">Naseem Shah</a>, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Hasnain and some of the more established bowlers like Hassan Ali and Faheem Ashraf? I have got a bunch of guys who I feel can be a force. Pakistan has a pace bowling attack consisting of Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Hasnain, Hassan Ali and Faheem Ashraf.<br />
Naseem recently became the youngest cricketer to Test debut in Australia and grabbed many eyeballs with his talent.</p>

<p>Shaheen is another youngster with great potential as he became took his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket against Sri Lanka in Karachi Test.</p>

<p>Praising the 19-year-old seamer, Younis said he is 'maturing very quickly'.</p>

<p>"Shaheen is maturing very quickly, he likes to learn and is keen to perform and I'm really pleased with how he is progressing as a bowler," Waqar said.</p>

<p>"I have spoken with the PCB hierarchy about players' finances and managing their workloads as each Test match counts towards the World Test Championship and we have to manage Shaheen's and the other pacers workloads. I am sure the Board is working on this and they will come up with some sort of agreement to help and work with the players," he added.</p>

<p>When asked is their more fast bowlers in the pipeline, Waqar said, "Ehsan Adil is one bowler that I am keeping a close eye on and he is someone who has been bowling well this season, can bat and is a handy fielder too. I have already mentioned some of the group of pace-bowlers we have at our disposal and in addition, Usman Khan Shinwari is an impressive bowler."</p>

<p>"What I am trying to do is to have this group of pace-bowlers and to keep a very close eye on this batch and monitor their progress very closely. We are planning to have another camp for pace-bowlers ahead of the series against Bangladesh and that will also give us another opportunity to look at the pace-bowlers," he added.</p>

<p>After successfully hosting the Test series against Sri Lanka and winning it by 1-0, Waqar termed Pakistan as a safe cricketing nation.</p>

<p>"Pakistan is a safe place and anyone who is saying it's not a safe place is fooling themselves. "What I am trying to do is to have this group of pace-bowlers and to keep a very close eye on this batch and monitor their progress very closely. We are planning to have another camp for pace-bowlers ahead of the series against Bangladesh and that will also give us another opportunity to look at the pace-bowlers," he added. <p>A lot was expected of Indian captain Prithvi Shaw in this World Cup. And the young batsman delivered in the very first game India played. In their high-octane match against a robust Australia, India batted first on a good track at the Mount Maunganui stadium and Shaw produced a terrific performance to knock the wind out of the opposition bowlers. Playing maturely, the opener initially showed composure and paced his innings well. He later opened up and attacked the Australian quicks with great authority. He was dismissed for a brilliant 94 off 100 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes. The knock helped India post 328-7 and win the match by 100 runs.</p>

<p><strong>6-15 by Shaheen Shah Afridi (Pakistan) at Whangarei</strong></p>

<p>There was a lot of excitement about Shaheen Shah Afridi before the World Cup because of his phenomenal figures of 8 for 39 in a first-class game. And the tall Pakistani fast bowler has not disappointed. The left-arm pacer has modeled his action on Australia&rsquo;s Mitchell Starc and generates prodigious bounce and movement. In Pakistan&rsquo;s match against Ireland it was Shaheen who completely ripped apart the opposition with his swing and seam and ended up with 6-15 in just 8.5 overs. It was a beautiful seam bowling performance that knocked over Ireland for just 97 and gave Pakistan a 9-wicket win.</p>

<p>Afghanistan has been taking giant strides in international cricket and their performance in the current U-19 World Cup is another step towards that. They beat Sri Lanka by 32 runs to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament and the victory was achieved by a superb half-century by opener Ibrahim Zadran. The batsman played smart and attacking cricket and in his knock of 86 from 112 balls, hit 5 sixes and 1 four. It was an important effort that set the stage for the others and helped Afghanistan post a solid, and eventually match-winning, score of 284.</p>

<p>We hope that we will get to savour many more such spectacular performances before the U-19 World Cup comes to a close. After all, this is what makes this tournament so satisfying and thrilling.
