Taking to the Instagram handle of SNL writer Dave Sirus, he shared a throwback video of him and comedian Jerrod Carmichael who's giving him a tight hug when he&nbsp;finally joined the show for the first time in eight years.<br />

In the post caption, Pete recalled his SNL journey: ''This video was taken 8 years ago. Jerrod sent it to me last night and it made me super emotional in the best way. In the video, I had just gotten back from doing my very first update and sketch. It’s crazy to think that today I’ll be doing my last one. When I got the show I was 20 years old and I had no idea what I was doing.''<br />

He added further, ''I still don’t but especially back then. I wasn’t really a sketch performer I was just a stand-up. I knew I could never keep up or go toe to toe with a Kenan Thompson or a Kate McKinnon so I was super scared at figuring out what I could possibly bring to or do for such a historic, respected show and platform. I figured since I’m a stand up I’ll just try my stand up and personal bits on Weekend Update as myself and I’m so glad I did. <p>For the latest episode of&nbsp;NBC comedy series Saturday Night Live’s 47th season, American singer and actor Selena Gomez took over the hosting duties and entertained her viewers with the help of her 'Only Murders in the Building' co-star Steve Martin and singer Post Malone. Before Selena, Billie Eilish, Kim Kardashian, and Rami Malek among others said yes to the challenging role.</p>

<p>May 14 episode marked Selena’s debut in SNL and it certainly had many noteworthy moments. In her monologue, the pop star shared that she is currently single and looking for her soulmate. Calling SNL “a great place to find romance,” she spoke about Emma Stone,&nbsp;Scarlett Johansson, Colin Jost, Pete Davidson and Machine Gun Kelly. Her Miley Cyrus impression also filled the room with giggles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Since I don’t really want to try the dating apps I just want to put it out in the universe that I’m manifesting love and I would like to say that I’m looking for my soulmate. But at this point I will take anyone,” Selena said in her monologue.</p>

<p>With Steve Martin, Selena had a small segment where her co-star played the character of a prank inventor, which was part of the show American Inventors. As Archie Gizmo, the actor left the room&nbsp;in splits.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In another segment, Selena played one of the understudies who couldn’t remember her lines and had a weird accent every time she spoke.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Post Malone, meanwhile, was the musical guest of the night. He also performed two skits with Selena. He performed his latest track Cooped Up from his upcoming album Twelve Carat Toothache along with his other tracks and proceeded to stun everyone with his satirical picks.</p>

<p>In one of the skits with Post Malone,&nbsp;Selena played&nbsp;the role of a jealous girlfriend, who suspected&nbsp;him of having another affair. As Malone leaves to get some paper towels, former Disney darling is visited by her intuition (played by Ego Nwodim) who tells her that her better half is out there cheating on her. The whole skit took fans on a fun ride and many got laughter attacks.</p>

Billie Eilish, Paul Rudd to host last two ‘Saturday Night Live’ episodes of 2021

<p>Back in 2012, when the then-Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney professed his affection for Big Bird but nonetheless vowed to cut funding for PBS, “Saturday Night Live” brought in Big Bird himself to explain that he wasn’t a political creature and didn’t “want to ruffle any feathers.”</p>

<p>Almost a decade later, after the fictional, good-natured Big Bird said in a tweet that he had received a COVID vaccine, he has drawn the ire of Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who complained that the tweet was “government propaganda for your 5-year-old.”</p>

<p>This time around, “SNL” didn’t get the support of any actual Muppets, so the show created its own alternate version of “Sesame Street,” which it called “Cruz Street.”</p>

<p>Aidy Bryant, who played Cruz in the opening sketch, stood in front of what looked like a familiar brownstone and explained, “For 50 years I stood by as ‘Sesame Street’ taught our children dangerous ideas, like numbers and kindness.”</p>

<p>She continued: “But when Big Bird told children to get vaccinated against a deadly disease, I said enough. And I created my own ‘Sesame Street,’ called ‘Cruz Street.’ It’s a gated community, where kids are safe from the woke government.”</p>

<p>Following the show’s theme song, Bryant was joined by Cecily Strong as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, toting what she said was an AR-15.</p>

<p>Other cast members played alternate versions of “Sesame Street” characters, including Alex Moffat and Mikey Day as Bert and Ernie; Chris Redd as a furry green creature called Oscar the Slouch (“Papa Joe Biden gave me so many stimmies, I decided to quit working and live in this trash can”); and Aristotle Athari as the Recount Count.</p>

<p>And hey, for good measure, the sketch brought out Chloe Fineman as Britney Spears, newly released from her yearslong conservatorship. “Oh, my God, you guys, we did it,” she said.</p>

<p>Spare a thought for all the men who discovered during the pandemic that they didn’t know how to form adult friendships and are now bereft of peer groups.</p>

<p>For their support — and for the benefit of their spouses and significant others — “SNL” has given us the Man Park, a dog parklike place where these well-meaning recluses can come together and share useless trivia, argue about “Rick and Morty” or communicate with one another simply by saying “Marvel” over and over.</p>

<p>We’re not saying we’re the target audience for this particular service, but when Andrew Dismukes asked “Who’s the GOAT, Michael Jordan or Tom Brady?” and Athari answered “How about Bo Burnham?” it felt so real.</p>

<p>Musical Performance of the Week</p>

<p>Taylor Swift got only one song on the show, but boy did she make it count: She delivered a blistering, 10-minute rendition of “All Too Well” from her newly released album of rerecordings, “Red (Taylor’s Version).”</p>

<p>Her performance — which ran even longer than Prince’s fabled eight-minute, three-song medley from an “SNL” appearance in 2014 — was accompanied by a short film that Swift directed, starring herself and actors Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien. The reemergence of “All Too Well” (a shorter version of which was originally released in 2012) has also resurfaced speculation on who the song might be about — speculation that the film seems to be reinforcing? — and we recommend that you give the song a full listen if you want to at least understand the leadoff joke on Weekend Update.</p>

<p>The last time Cecily Strong played Fox News host Jeanine Pirro on 'Saturday Night Live,'&nbsp;it seemed like she might be saying goodbye to her longtime TV home. (She did, after all, end the segment by singing “My Way” and dousing herself in a giant box of wine.)</p>

<p>But to the benefit of the show, Strong did not leave “SNL,” and she was back Saturday playing Pirro in the show’s cold open. She would get a more memorable moment in the spotlight later in the night — for now, the segment belonged to a rookie cast member, James Austin Johnson, who has rapidly become one of “SNL”’s most versatile celebrity impressionists and brought his capable sendup of former President Donald Trump to the program for the first time.</p>

<p>Strong began by interviewing a guest she introduced as “an American brave enough to stand up and say, screw you science — I know Joe Rogan.” That turned out to be Pete Davidson playing Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who tested positive for the coronavirus last week and confirmed, in a combative interview Friday, that he was not vaccinated.</p>

<p>Davidson, as Rodgers, defended his ambiguous remarks about his vaccination status. “I never lied,” he said. “I took all my teammates into a huddle, got all their faces 3 inches away from my wet mouth, and told them trust me, I’m more or less immunized. Go team!”</p>

<p>He added, “At the end of the day, my record is still 7-1. Meaning, of the eight people I’ve infected, seven are fine.”</p>

<p>Strong also interviewed Alex Moffat, playing Glenn Youngkin, the Republican governor-elect of Virginia. When she asked him to provide a definition of critical race theory, Moffat answered, “It’s simple: It’s what got me elected.” Pressed for more clarity, Moffat added, “It’s not important. What’s important is parents.”</p>

<p>He introduced Heidi Gardner as a member of his parental task force on education, and she cited some of the books she wanted removed from the state’s curriculum, including “Pride and Prejudice” (“Prejudice is fine, but pride is a term that has been co-opted by the gays,” Gardner said) and “The Great Gatsby” (“Too much jazz”).</p>

<p>Strong brought out her surprise final guest: Trump, as played by Johnson (who is already holding down the recurring role of President Joe Biden on “SNL”).</p>

<p>“I just wanted to congratulate Glenn Youngkin and mostly myself on a tremendous victory in Virginia,” Johnson said. “You know what, Glenn? We did it together.”</p>

<p>Moffat uncomfortably replied, “You don’t have to say that.”</p>

<p>Johnson went on to deliver a discursive monologue, complete with a “Pardon the Interruption”-style topic list and countdown clock, in which he rambled on about “Star Wars” (He claimed to have told George Lucas, “You need to do it with swords — the lasers are not enough”), “Dune,” Timothée Chalamet, Jason Momoa, “Game of Thrones” and, finally, the state of Virginia.</p>

<p>An impressed Strong asked him, “How do you keep that all in your brain?”</p>

<p>Johnson answered, “I had my ears sealed so nothing comes in or out.”</p>

Roman, he said, is “one of the nicer characters on the show — which still makes him one of the top 10 worst humans on TV.”</p>

<p>Culkin also reminded viewers that he had previously appeared on “SNL” some 30 years ago when his brother Macaulay had hosted the program, and that 9-year-old Kieran had been hoisted aloft by grown-up cast members during the show’s goodnights. Did a 39-year-old Kieran repeat the tradition at the end of this weekend’s broadcast? You’ll just have to watch and see. (OK, fine, he did repeat it.)</p>

It seemed, at first, like a typical outing of “The Dionne Warwick Talk Show,” a recurring segment in which Ego Nwodim plays a delightfully kooky version of that enduring pop singer. And as usual, she was joined by guests that she does not recognize or particularly care about, including Chloe Fineman as Miley Cyrus, Culkin as Jason Mraz and Ed Sheeran as Ed Sheeran.</p>

<p>But just as the sketch seemed to be winding down, Nwodim said, “I’m sick and tired of interviewing people who are not icons. Please welcome: me.” And out strode the real-life Warwick, who sat down in a chair opposite her. Nwodim asked the singer, “Dionne, why are you perfect?” Warwick replied, “My darling, I am not perfect. I’m just very, very good.” Their brief duet of “What the World Needs Now” that followed was almost too generous but we’ll take it anyway.</p>

<p>Over at the Weekend Update desk, anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che riffed on the passage of Biden’s infrastructure plan in the House of Representatives, and the results of Tuesday’s elections.</p>

Last night, the House passed President Biden’s $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, which should be enough to clean as many as two of LaGuardia’s bathrooms. The infrastructure bill will also expand internet access across the U.S., which is great news, because when has more internet ever been bad for America?" [His screen displays a photo of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.]</p>

<p>Che continued:</p>

<p>"Democrat Terry McAuliffe lost to Republican Glenn Youngkin in the Virginia governor’s race. But on the bright side, losers from Virginia usually get a statue. [His screen displays a photo of a monument to Robert E. Lee.] Political experts say that the Republican victory in Virginia’s governor’s race was fueled by white women who didn’t go to college. Which just so happens to be the same exact group I target on Tinder."</p>

<p>While she sprayed Jost with water from a trick boutonniere and tried to make balloon animals, Strong talked about how common it is for clowns to have abortions and how they feel more comfortable discussing the subject with one another when they learn that other clowns have had them. It was not the easiest subject to mine for comedy. But as Strong explained, describing a doctor who jokingly asked if she had gotten pregnant on her way over to the clinic, “It’s not like a funny ha-ha joke, but like a funny, you’re not an awful person and your life isn’t over now joke. The best kind.”</p>

<p>In Saturday Night Live's recently released promo for Kim Kardashian's big debut as host, the reality tv star-turned-businesswoman jokes about her debut as the show's leading lady this weekend in the new promo shared on Thursday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kim starts by introducing herself and singer-co-host Halsey, before Cecily Strong asks her if she's "nervous about doing sketch comedy."</p>

Macdonald, who was 61, died Tuesday after having cancer for nine years, but keeping it private, according to Brillstein Entertainment Partners, his management firm in Los Angeles.<br />

He never reached the same television heights after being fired from 'SNL' in 1998 but was an indefatigable stand-up comic and popular talk show guest whose death provoked an outpouring from fellow comedians.<br />

"Norm was in a comedy genre of his own," tweeted Sarah Silverman. "No one like him on this planet. Please do yourself a favour and watch his stuff."<br />

Macdonald, the son of two schoolteachers, was raised in Quebec City, Canada. He was a stand-up comic and briefly a writer for the sitcom 'Roseanne' when he was picked to join the cast of 'Saturday Night Live' in 1993.<br />

He became known for his esoteric impressions, including Burt Reynolds, who gave Will Ferrell's Alex Trebek character grief on 'Celebrity Jeopardy'. He also impersonated Bob Dole, Larry King and David Letterman.<br />

Simpson was a favourite target. Macdonald opened the fake newscast the week of the former football star's acquittal on murder charges by saying, "Well, it's finally official. Murder is legal in the state of California."<br />

Macdonald was fired in the middle of the season in 1998 by NBC Entertainment executive Don Ohlmeyer, a friend of Simpson's who reportedly didn't appreciate the 'SNL' star making Simpson the near-constant butt of jokes.<br />

"I was never bitter," Macdonald said in the oral history 'Live From New York', released in 2002.<br />

"I always understood that Ohlmeyer could fire me, because he was the guy who owned the cameras, so that didn't bother me. I was always happy that 'SNL' gave me a chance."<br />

<p>Saturday Night Live’s season finale clip just released and it features a bemasked trio of host Anya Taylor-Joy, musical guest Lil Nas X and castmember Chris Redd.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the clip, Anya Taylor-Joy and Lil Nas X agree that their show will be the best of the season.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chris Redd then tries to initiate a group hug, but gets turned down.</p>

<p>Earlier, the show’s Instagram page also shared a post of a studious-looking Taylor-Joy who was seen examining a script during what looked to be a table read. And two weeks ago, the actress posted the traditional colored flash card image with the episode’s lineup.</p>

'Saturday Night Live' season finale promo has a lot on offer

<p>Elon Musk may have brought the house down with his super hosting gig on 'Saturday Night Live' but Musk and his girlfriend Grimes had a brief run at the hospital soon after.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
During one of the sketches, Musk, 49, played the Nintendo character Wario while his girlfriend, Grimes, made a small cameo as Princess Peach.<br />
<br />
Later on Tuesday, in a post shared on Instagram, Grimes revealed that she had suffered a panic attack and was hospitalised briefly.</p>

<p>"Forgot to post these cuz I somehow caused myself to have a panic attack and went to the hospital yesterday which tbh was quite scary and I suppose it’s a good time to start therapy," she revealed.<br />
<br />
It seems that she suffered an attack on Monday, days after&nbsp;her 'SNL' debut and that her gig had nothing to do with it.<br />
<br />
Her post contained a pair of photos of herself in costume with Miley Cyrus, who served as the musical guest on the popular late-night sketch show. Musk and Grimes later parted with Cyrus post their SNL gig.<br />
<br />
Grimes praised both Cyrus and Musk in her social media post.</p>
