<p>Bangalore came closest to win a match against Gujarat as they lost by a only 11 runs while chasing a mammoth total of 202. Their next drubbing was the worst among all as they lost against the UP Warriorz women by 10 wickets after scoring 138 runs in their innings.</p>

<p>The last of their five defeats came against the Delhi Capitals again as they lost by six wickets after scoring 150 runs with Perry top scoring for them, scoring 67.</p>

<p>RCB will surely be under pressure for their next fixture as they have not performed to the expectation for team which has names like Renuka Singh Thakur, Richa Ghosh, England captain Heather Knight, New Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine, Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry, and Megan Schutt apart from India opener Smriti Mandhana.</p>

<p>Indian Premier League's (IPL) Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) posted an emotional tweet to recognise Indian batsman Virat Kohli's 15-year association with them. RCB, on their twitter handle, shared two pictures of Kohli - one from the first edition in 2008 and the other one from one of the latest photoshoots to thank him for his contribution over the years.</p>

<p>In the last 15 years, Kohli has played 223 matches in the league for RCB, scoring a mammoth 6,624 runs - the highest in the league. He also holds numerous other records such as most runs in a single IPL season (973) and most hundreds in a season (4). He is also the only player to have played for a single franchise since the inception of the league.</p>

<p>Kohli also led the side until 2021 and led the Challengers to the final in 2016 season during his stint. The same 2016 season was the one when he was at prime of his batting form, scoring 973 runs in 16 matches at an astonishing average of 81.08 and four centuries as well.</p>

Smriti Mandhana, bought for a whopping INR 3.4 crores at the WPL auction, has failed to guide&nbsp;her side to a win so far in the maiden edition of this tournament. Following RCB's fourth straight loss the other night in Mumbai, Smriti has found herself in hot waters but has backing from her teammate Ellyse Perry.</p>

<p>Perry, another star all-rounder in the team full of big names, has come out in support of Smriti saying the way she has led so far, it appears she is great at it,&nbsp;but she puts too much pressure on herself for doing well for the team – which certainly isn’t going her way.</p>

<p>Speaking after yet another humiliating loss in WPL – this time going down against UP Warriorz by ten wickets, Perry addressed the media and said it’s not easy for someone to manage a team full of new faces.</p>

<p>Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star all-rounder Ellyse Perry gave an epic reply when asked to choose her opening partner between Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Both Kohli and Dhoni have been superstars of Indian cricket. <p>After calling time on her illustrious career, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has opened up on her stint in the upcoming Women's Premier League (WPL) which will kickstart a revolution in women's cricket. Sania Mirza spoke exclusively to WION’s Sports Editor Digvijay Singh Deo on her role and how she will help the rising female stars adapt to pressure while also giving a hint on how to adapt to the game while they succeed in the long term. The six-time major champion was recently appointed as the mentor for the WPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and will be part of their roster.</p>

<h2><strong>Sania opens up about her mentor role</strong></h2>

<p>"This mentorship means a lot of fun as I love doing things that are challenging but also helping these young girls to adapt to the sports that I have been doing for the last 20 years. A lot of them have not seen that kind of spotlight ever, so will try to help them with my experience and give them my experience of how that exactly feels to play under pressure and that has nothing to do with cricket and only has to do with the mental side of things, so I hope I can do that and help them grow faster and how to handle the pressure," Sania said while speaking to WION&nbsp;Sports Editor Digvijay Singh Deo.</p>

<p>Sania enjoyed a successful stint as a major champion having won six titles and will be looking forward to mentoring the RCB side, led by Smriti Mandhana. Sania dropped the curtains on her Grand Slam career at the Australian Open when she lost in the finals of mixed doubles with Rohan Bopanna. The pair came second to Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos in the Australian Open mixed doubles final as the Brazillian pair clinched their maiden Grand Slam. She suffered an excruciating defeat of 7(7)-6(2) to end as runners-up at the Melbourne Park final.&nbsp;</p>

The star opener was not only the first female player to be sold in the WPL auction, but she also happened to be the most-expensive one too – with RCB splurging INR 3.4 crores for her. On Saturday, via a video that was posted on the RCB's social media handles, this announcement was made public. Ironically, it was RCB’s former skipper Virat Kohli and current captain South Africa’s Faf du Plessis, who revealed RCB’s new skipper in WPL for season one.</p>

<p>Sania, who recently lost the finals of the Australian Open in the mixed doubles category alongside her partner Rohan Bopanna, will be playing her last professional tournament – ATP Dubai Open that will begin on February 19th. A six-time Grand Slam winner&nbsp;in doubles and mixed doubles category, Sania is mainly roped in to work on the mental aspects with the young talent in the squad. Speaking with the RCB channel just after getting picked, Sania said she was rather surprised with this proposal, but is excited at the same time to work on this new aspect following her retirement as a professional Tennis player.</p>

<p>"I was a little surprised [at being offered a mentorship role], but I was really excited," Mirza told RCB TV. "I want to make young girls believe sport can be one of the first career choices for them. I want to help the next generation into believing in themselves no matter how much the odds are against you, you can achieve your goals."</p>

<p>The Tennis legend added saying she would help bring the mental steadiness and the belief, both of which are utterly important to succeed at any level. Mirza also said she would work with players on how to deal with high pressure.</p>

<p>"The mental aspect of it is something I look forward to working with the younger girls," she said. "I feel I can [help] bring in the mental steadiness, the mental belief, I can talk of the experiences I've had over 20 years of playing. Being the only [Indian] woman doing it for so many years has been lonely, but the pressure has been high, that kind of stuff is something I can truly help with, " she added.</p>

The inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL)'s auction took place in Mumbai and saw many big players going under the hammer. The likes of Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver, etc. made heads turn and were bought for big amounts by the newly-formed five franchises.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Talking about the Australian all-rounder Perry -- arguably the greatest-ever women's cricketer -- had a base price of INR 50 lakhs and got a whopping deal in return. Perry, with 752, 3,386, and 1,515 runs and 37, 161 and120 scalps in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, respectively, is won as many as four T20 World Cups and two ODI World Cups for the Women in Yellow. While some superstar cricketers were expected to fetch big deals, many uncapped players also made a mark and were bought in the auction. <p>Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad were the top three teams to release the most number of players while Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) let go of only five players each. There were some surprise releases as both Sunrisers and Punjab Kings parted ways with their respective captains from the last season.</p>

While a number of high-profile players were released by their respective teams, the franchises managed to keep their core intact.</p>

<p>Mumbai Indians (MI) let go of star all-rounder Kieron Pollard after he announced his retirement from IPL while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) released the legendary Dwayne Bravo. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) let go of their captain Kane Williamson with Punjab Kings also parting ways with their skipper from last season - Mayank Agarwal.</p>

Before the pandemic struck worldwide, Kohli had registered his 70th international ton -- second-most among Indians and third-overall -- but has struggled to reach the triple-figure mark&nbsp;in any format at any level since November 2019.</p>

<p>Even in the IPL 2022 edition, where Kohli represented Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) sans captaincy duties, the 33-year-old ended with his second-worst season, after IPL 2010, and returned with 341 runs (with two half-centuries) at an average of 22.73 and a strike rate of&nbsp;115.98. Thus, he has been given some time off from the 22-yard cricket strip, which had been a piece of popular advice by many former cricketers after seeing his struggles during IPL 15. Parag and Harshal were involved in a heated argument during a clash between RCB and RR before the latter refused to shake hands with the RR all-rounder during the routine handshakes between the players of the two sides.</p>

<p>The footage of Harshal refusing to shake hands with Parag had gone viral on social media and became one of the major talking points after the game. The incident happened when RCB and RR locked horns against each other at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Parag slammed his first half-century of the season in the game and had slammed Harshal for 18 runs in the last over of RR innings.</p>

<p>The duo were involved in a verbal spat during the last over after Parag took Harshal to the cleaners.
