<p>Karan Johar's next guests are also his first heroines. The promo for&nbsp;the upcoming episode of<em> Koffee With Karan</em> is out and it has cousins Kajol and Rani Mukerji sharing the couch and spilling details about the host who is also their close friend. The two had worked with Johar in his debut film <em>Kuch Kuch Hota Hai</em> which completed 25 years of release earlier this year. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan along with Kajol and Rani.&nbsp;<br />

The promo of <em>Koffee With Karan</em> begins with Rani telling Karan, "I want to expose you." To which the filmmaker said, "Don't say such things," while Kajol added, "I like this show already."<br />

Rani then lists what Karan had done to her, seemingly during the shoot for <em>Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. </em>"You have snatched food from my hand, you've hit me." When Karan interrupted her to say, "I didn't hit you," Rani said, "Such lies!" Kajol added, "Abuse, it was abuse!"&nbsp;<br />

Then during another segment, when Karan asked Kajol which film of hers had Rani in a guest appearance, the actress appeared to be clueless. The correct answer was <em>Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.</em></p>

<p>After the two guests took part in a series of Koffee rounds, Kajol said she was 'staging a walkout' after she failed to answer a few of Karan's questions.<br />

Karan Johar-owned production house took to its social media channels and made the announcement on Wednesday, October 11, as it wrote, "Hum ek baar jeete hai, ek baar marte hai aur #KuchKuchHotaHai special screening ka mauka bhi ek hi baar milta hai! At PVR INOX (Mumbai) on 15th October - time to relive the magic!".<br />

He may have produced more films than directed them in his 25 years in the film industry, but Johar's films have over the years become a movement of sorts, changed the way Hindi cinema is perceived the world over and managed to set trends like no other filmmaker had in the past two decades or more.<br />

In his career as a filmmaker and producer, Johar has been accused of being nepotistic, of creating a superfluous world in his films which set unrealistic standards in society, and for never being able to make cinema on relevant issues. But there is no denying that Johar always manages to create the perfect dream world that seems attainable to the general public yet it never is. Johar understands the business of cinema well and always knows where to put his money. Over the years, he has launched some of the most prominent names in acting and direction in Hindi cinema, proving that he understands talent and knows what and who will work.&nbsp;<br />

The film did serve the purpose as it gave us the incredibly talented Alia Bhatt, who in over a decade has proved how good an actor she is. The film also gave us Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra, who have created their own space in Bollywood. But when one looks at SOTY, it really is a very superfluous remake of <em>Kuch Kuch Hota Hai</em> - which itself was not the best film in terms of storytelling. A remake of multiple Hollywood high school dramas, SOTY was a long dragged affair that&nbsp;felt out of place even when it had released in 2012. Thank god, it had Alia Bhatt though, who in due course of time became the force that she is now.&nbsp;<br />

<p><strong>8-Kuch Kuch Hota Hai- </strong>Johar's first film was a Hindi version of the <em>Archies</em> back in the day. When the film was released, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji, it was a rage. Considered one of the biggest hits of the filmmaker's career, the film was a classic for a generation that grew up on SRK's staple diet of love stories. Yet, years later when you re-watch the film, you realise how superfluous and flimsy the plot was. The depiction of the two female leads, the screenplay, the process in which the lead couple falls in love were all very questionable and if made in today's time - would infuriate too many people instead of being loved.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>7-Ghost Stories-</strong> Another anthology where Johar again was out of his comfort zone creating a horror story. Of course, the film featuring Mrunal Thakur and Avinash Tiwari in the lead, had its usual Johar trapping with opulant sets, newly married couple in a big bungalow but it also had the new bride (Thakur) discovering that something is amiss in her new home with her husband - who till the wedding night- seemed like her dream man. Johar's attempt at the genre did not create an impression - as much as the other shorts in the anthology did and the story fell to the usual Johar stereotypes and did not provide the thrills&nbsp;required in the horror story.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>6-Ae Dil Hai Mushkil-</strong>&nbsp;Some say <em>Ae Dil Hai Mushkil</em> is Karan Johar's most personal film to date. The film deals with the complexities that come along with falling in love. Of sacrifices one makes in love, of unrequitted love. Weeks ahead of the film's release, it was plagued with controversy over the casting of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in a cameo role for which Johar had to personally shoot an apology video and urge the public to not ban the film because of his special appearance. The film has Ranbir Kapoor playing Ayan, a man-child (like he does in most of his films) falling in love with the impulsive Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) who is in love with someone else. The film's treatment of unrequitted love appeared slightly problematic but Aishwarya Rai, who made a &nbsp;comeback of sorts with the film after a long gap, was a revelation in a role as a mysterious poetess.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>5-Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham-</strong>&nbsp;I don't think even Johar had realised he was making a cult film when he made <em>Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham</em>. Featuring superstars of three different generations - Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan - the family drama ran on the theme of loving one's parents irrespective of their flaws and egos. But it was the depiction of Poo played by Kareena Kapoor that became a rage. From her styling, to her dialogues to the character itself, Kapoor literally stole the limelight in the film that had veterans playing pivotal roles. The film has over the years attained a cult status for its humour not so much for its drama.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>4-Lust Stories-</strong>&nbsp;How many filmmakers in India talk about female sexuality? Hardly a handful. Which is why anthology <em>Lust Stories </em>was such a winner. It had four distinct stories of women exploring their sexual urges. Johar's short featured Kiara Advani and Vicky Kaushal in the lead where Kiara played a new bride who is unable to find sexual satisfaction from her husband - who literally comes in five thrusts every night. Quirky and semi-meta (specially the hillarious climax) the film took a snide jab at Indian men and their preconvceived notions on sex and their machismo.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>3- My Name Is Khan- </strong>Johar's most political film to date, <em>My Name Is Khan</em> received mixed reviews when it had released. The film had Shah Rukh Khan playing Rizwan Khan, an autistic Muslim who sets out on a journey across the United States to meet the US President to prove that he is not a terrorist. The film was set in the backdrop of 9/11 when Islamophobia was rampant in the country. Khan embarks on a journey after Mandira Rathod (Kajol), his Hindu wife, suffers from Islamophobic discrimination after the September 11 attacks. While many found the film stretched and incoherent, it was Khan's portrayal as Rizwan Khan that won hearts. Even though topical, the story was difficult to implement on screen, but Johar deftly handled the plot with great sensitivity.&nbsp;</p>

On the surface, the film looked like a quintessential love story that involved four individuals, but it actually deftly handled adultery and unhappy marriages. Khan, the pin-up hero for Bollywood romances for decades, played a cynical man who was not just unhappy in life but also jealous of his wife's success and ventured out to have an illicit affair with an equally unhappy woman played by Rani Mukerji. While adultery has been dealt by many makers in Indian cinema before, it was Johar's treatment that made the film special.&nbsp;</p>

The couple soon realises that they have been living a life full of lies and how Avinash plays a catalyst in bringing their true self out forms the rest of the story. The film had released in theatres in 2013, a time when Bollywood was still not accustomed to talk of homosexuality so openly in its commercial films. Johar, who till then had stuck to formula love stories, delivered a bold, out of the box story that addressed infidelity, homophobia and more. The film also featured a same-sex kissing scene - a tall order for a commercial Hindi film at any given point of time. What made the film extra special was that it had Johar, a very commercial film director known for extravagant sets and song-and-dance sequences in films, dealing with a topic like homosexuality with such grace and sensitivity.&nbsp;<br />

Over the years, he has launched some of the most prominent names in acting and direction in Hindi cinema, proving that he understands talent and knows what and who will work. In 25 years in the film industry, Johar has directed only 10 films - including his upcoming Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Of the 10, three have been part of anthologies. That being said, one can safely state that almost each of Johar's films becomes a talking point after it releases. A day before his 10th film hits theatres, we ranked all his directorial ventures - from worst to best. 9- Student Of The Year- Karan Johar had once admitted that Student Of The Year was made perhaps to launch new faces in Bollywood. The film did serve the purpose as it gave us the incredibly talented Alia Bhatt, who in over a decade has proved how good an actor she is. The film also gave us Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra, who have created their own space in Bollywood. But when one looks at SOTY, it really is a very superfluous remake of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai - which itself was not the best film in terms of storytelling. A remake of multiple Hollywood high school dramas, SOTY was a long dragged affair that felt out of place even when it had released in 2012. Thank god, it had Alia Bhatt though, who in due course of time became the force that she is now. 8-Kuch Kuch Hota Hai- Johar's first film was a Hindi version of the Archies back in the day. When the film was released, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji, it was a rage. Considered one of the biggest hits of the filmmaker's career, the film was a classic for a generation that grew up on SRK's staple diet of love stories. Yet, years later when you re-watch the film, you realise how superfluous and flimsy the plot was. The depiction of the two female leads, the screenplay, the process in which the lead couple falls in love were all very questionable and if made in today's time - would infuriate too many people instead of being loved. 7-Ghost Stories- Another anthology where Johar again was out of his comfort zone creating a horror story. Of course, the film featuring Mrunal Thakur and Avinash Tiwari in the lead, had its usual Johar trapping with opulant sets, newly married couple in a big bungalow but it also had the new bride (Thakur) discovering that something is amiss in her new home with her husband - who till the wedding night- seemed like her dream man. Johar's attempt at the genre did not create an impression - as much as the other shorts in the anthology did and the story fell to the usual Johar stereotypes and did not provide the thrills required in the horror story. 6-Ae Dil Hai Mushkil- Some say Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is Karan Johar's most personal film to date. The film deals with the complexities that come along with falling in love. Of sacrifices one makes in love, of unrequitted love. Weeks ahead of the film's release, it was plagued with controversy over the casting of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in a cameo role for which Johar had to personally shoot an apology video and urge the public to not ban the film because of his special appearance. The film has Ranbir Kapoor playing Ayan, a man-child (like he does in most of his films) falling in love with the impulsive Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) who is in love with someone else. The film's treatment of unrequitted love appeared slightly problematic but Aishwarya Rai, who made a comeback of sorts with the film after a long gap, was a revelation in a role as a mysterious poetess. 5-Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham- I don't think even Johar had realised he was making a cult film when he made Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Featuring superstars of three different generations - Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan - the family drama ran on the theme of loving one's parents irrespective of their flaws and egos. But it was the depiction of Poo played by Kareena Kapoor that became a rage. From her styling, to her dialogues to the character itself, Kapoor literally stole the limelight in the film that had veterans playing pivotal roles. The film has over the years attained a cult status for its humour not so much for its drama. 4-Lust Stories- How many filmmakers in India talk about female sexuality? Hardly a handful. Which is why anthology Lust Stories was such a winner. It had four distinct stories of women exploring their sexual urges. Johar's short featured Kiara Advani and Vicky Kaushal in the lead where Kiara played a new bride who is unable to find sexual satisfaction from her husband - who literally comes in five thrusts every night. Quirky and semi-meta (specially the hillarious climax) the film took a snide jab at Indian men and their preconvceived notions on sex and their machismo. 3- My Name Is Khan- Johar's most political film to date, My Name Is Khan received mixed reviews when it had released. The film had Shah Rukh Khan playing Rizwan Khan, an autistic Muslim who sets out on a journey across the United States to meet the US President to prove that he is not a terrorist. The film was set in the backdrop of 9/11 when Islamophobia was rampant in the country. Khan embarks on a journey after Mandira Rathod (Kajol), his Hindu wife, suffers from Islamophobic discrimination after the September 11 attacks. While many found the film stretched and incoherent, it was Khan's portrayal as Rizwan Khan that won hearts. Even though topical, the story was difficult to implement on screen, but Johar deftly handled the plot with great sensitivity. 2- Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna- The film, like most of Johar's movies, boasted of a big star cast that included Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. On the surface, the film looked like a quintessential love story that involved four individuals, but it actually deftly handled adultery and unhappy marriages. Khan, the pin-up hero for Bollywood romances for decades, played a cynical man who was not just unhappy in life but also jealous of his wife's success and ventured out to have an illicit affair with an equally unhappy woman played by Rani Mukerji. While adultery has been dealt by many makers in Indian cinema before, it was Johar's treatment that made the film special. 1- Bombay Talkies- Johar's most experimental and boldest film to date explored homosexuality in an anthology that celebrated 100 years of Indian cinema. Johar's short had Rani Mukerji and Randeep Hooda playing a modern, ambitious couple whose marriage gets disrupted when Avinash played by Saqib Saleem enters their life. The couple soon realises that they have been living a life full of lies and how Avinash plays a catalyst in bringing their true self out forms the rest of the story. The film had released in theatres in 2013, a time when Bollywood was still not accustomed to talk of homosexuality so openly in its commercial films. Johar, who till then had stuck to formula love stories, delivered a bold, out of the box story that addressed infidelity, homophobia and more. The film also featured a same-sex kissing scene - a tall order for a commercial Hindi film at any given point of time. What made the film extra special was that it had Johar, a very commercial film director known for extravagant sets and song-and-dance sequences in films, dealing with a topic like homosexuality with such grace and sensitivity. Filmmaker Ashima Chibber's film <em>Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway</em> stars Rani Mukerji as Debika Chatterjee who is separated from her two young children by the Norway Children's Welfare Program on the pretext of bad parenting. Based on a real-life incident that took place in 2011 and led to a diplomatic row between India and Norway, <em>Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway</em> boasts of great writing and performances but is still not an easy watch. It tears you up ever so often and even makes you wonder about the what-ifs.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The actual incident shook India as most followed the case of Indian couple Sagarika and Anurup Bhattacharya's ordeal with Barnevernet, the Norwegian Child Welfare Services who had forcefully taken away their children on the pretext of improper parenting. The couple was accused of making their children sleep on their beds, feeding them with their hands, and applying kohl. The father was accused of not helping his wife with household chores and the mother was called mentally unstable. The harrowing incident was widely reported by the Indian media, with many pointing out the glaring cultural differences between the two countries and their idea of child-rearing.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Since the story of <em>Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway</em> is known to many, there it was a bigger challenge to make the film engaging for the audience. Written by Chibber along with Rahul Handa and Sameer Satija, the film gets the mood right- which is of despair, uncertainty and anxiousness. Debika and her husband Anirudh (Anirban Bhattacharya) run pillar to post to get back their children from the Norwegian authorities but are hit by roadblocks one after the other. It doesn't help that there are cracks in their relationship already. Anirudh is shown as an ambitious man, who does not want to anger or challenge the Norway government in order to secure citizenship in the country. He is also a misogynist who does not believe in helping the wife at home at any given time and is mostly driven by his ambition to excel at work.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Debika on the other hand manages the household and two young children. Her son, the authorities suspect, has autism and she is still feeding her five-month-old daughter. The separation hits her more and she ends up behaving out of line on many court appearances, which in turn cements the Norweigein authorities' claim about her mental instability and thereby hampering her chances of reuniting with her children.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The writers should be given credit where it is due. They get the emotions right and&nbsp;you do end up sympathising with the mother and her deep pain for being separated from her children. Chibber also sets up a typical Bengali household well. The conversations- especially between Mukerji and Bhattacharya are similar to how Bengali couples speak or argue.</p>

<p>The emotions are all there. At one time, Rani can be heard arguing about how one feeds the child <em>macher jhol-bhaat</em> (fish curry and rice ) with a fork- a dish that is a staple in every Bengali household. The food that the children are fed, or the families eat, and the reactions of the characters in the middle of arguments are all very accurate to a common Bengali family. That way the film is consistent in creating the right environment.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
What is inconsistent- is Rani Mukerji's accented Hindi, which she tries very consciously to speak badly because of her character's background. It is conflicting for the actor clearly because there are moments where she forgets her character and speaks effortless Hindi but then goes back to an uneven version of the language.</p>

<p>Rani Mukerji also hams through her part of Debika. Yes, she is an anguished mother and some of the scenes are so powerful that Rani is able to project the pain of her character well, but she ever so often crosses that thin line of emotional to melodrama. And while we are supposed to deeply feel for her character and the pain she is going through, we end up squirming at her over-the-top act. That being said, Rani still holds her own in a film that rests on her shoulder.</p>

The other actors are splendid. Well-known Bengali actor Anirban Bhattacharya makes his Bollywood debut in this film as the slightly cold, manipulative and self-centered Mr Chatterjee who is only concerned about securing citizenship in Norway. Bhattacharya is known for his well-rounded performances in various Bengali films and in <em>Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway</em>, he excels as Anirudh- so much so that you end up disliking him.</p>

<p>The other actor who delivers a fine performance is Jim Sarbh as Norwegian lawyer Daniel Singh Ciupek - a man who is misconstrued as someone who is not sympathetic towards the Chatterjees in the beginning but is actually an ally. Sarbh delivers a restrained but confident performance. The courtroom scenes between him and actress Balaji Gauri, who plays Rani's lawyer are the best scenes in the film- which are well executed by the two actors making them the most defining moments of the narrative.&nbsp;</p>

The casting is accurate. A lot of well-known Bengali actors play supporting roles with absolute ease in the&nbsp;film. There is Barun Chanda, Bodhisatva Majumdar, Mithu Chakraborty and Saswati Guhathakurta playing their limited roles well. Neena Gupta has a brief cameo- as a politician modelled around the late Sushma Swaraj- who plays a catalyst in the case.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The film has an uneven pace. The first half when Anirban and Rani are trying to get back their children, where Rani's hysterics are on full display, seems a bit jarring after a point. You want to feel their emotions but because of the melodrama and Rani playing for the gallery- it doesn't translate well for the audience. The pace picks up in the second half, especially in the last hour when the story moves to India. Sarbh gets to display his acting prowess in the courtroom scenes well and shines in them.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
In the end <em>Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway </em>is slightly uneven. But it is the story that is the biggest winner of this heart-wrenching story. Sure, there is melodrama, but the film's core story is such that it keeps you hooked. After all, a mother's love for her children is well known yet it makes for a heartwarming story every single time.&nbsp;</p>

Chibber also sets up a typical Bengali household well. The conversations- especially between Mukerji and Bhattacharya are similar to how Bengali couples speak or argue. The emotions are all there. At one time, Rani can be heard arguing about how one feeds the child macher jhol-bhaat (fish curry and rice ) with a fork- a dish that is a staple in every Bengali household. The food that the children are fed, or the families eat, and the reactions of the characters in the middle of arguments are all very accurate to a common Bengali family. That way the film is consistent in creating the right environment. What is inconsistent- is Rani Mukerji's accented Hindi, which she tries very consciously to speak badly because of her character's background. It is conflicting for the actor clearly because there are moments where she forgets her character and speaks effortless Hindi but then goes back to an uneven version of the language. Rani Mukerji also hams through her part of Debika. Yes, she is an anguished mother and some of the scenes are so powerful that Rani is able to project the pain of her character well, but she ever so often crosses that thin line of emotional to melodrama. And while we are supposed to deeply feel for her character and the pain she is going through, we end up squirming at her over-the-top act. Well-known Bengali actor Anirban Bhattacharya makes his Bollywood debut in this film as the slightly cold, manipulative and self-centered Mr Chatterjee who is only concerned about securing citizenship in Norway. Bhattacharya is known for his well-rounded performances in various Bengali films and in Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, he excels as Anirudh- so much so that you end up disliking him. The other actor who delivers a fine performance is Jim Sarbh as Norwegian lawyer Daniel Singh Ciupek - a man who is misconstrued as someone who is not sympathetic towards the Chatterjees in the beginning but is actually an ally. Sarbh delivers a restrained but confident performance. The courtroom scenes between him and actress Balaji Gauri, who plays Rani's lawyer are the best scenes in the film- which are well executed by the two actors making them the most defining moments of the narrative. The casting is accurate. A lot of well-known Bengali actors play supporting roles with absolute ease in the film. There is Barun Chanda, Bodhisatva Majumdar, Mithu Chakraborty and Saswati Guhathakurta playing their limited roles well. Neena Gupta has a brief cameo- as a politician modelled around the late Sushma Swaraj- who plays a catalyst in the case. The film has an uneven pace. The first half when Anirban and Rani are trying to get back their children, where Rani's hysterics are on full display, seems a bit jarring after a point. You want to feel their emotions but because of the melodrama and Rani playing for the gallery- it doesn't translate well for the audience. The pace picks up in the second half, especially in the last hour when the story moves to India. Sarbh gets to display his acting prowess in the courtroom scenes well and shines in them. In the end Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway is slightly uneven. But it is the story that is the biggest winner of this heart-wrenching story. Sure, there is melodrama, but the film's core story is such that it keeps you hooked. After all, a mother's love for her children is well known yet it makes for a heartwarming story every single time.

A fantastic soundtrack, a popular pair on screen, Amitabh Bachchan and an entertaining story where the lead pair sold the Taj Mahal. 16 years later as the sequel 'Bunty Aur Babli 2' releases in theatres with a story similar to the first one- the fun is missing mostly.<br />

Filmmaker Varun Sharma directs a story written by producer Aditya Chopra where Rakesh and Vimmi - the original Bunty Aur Babli- are now old and living a simple life with their son. Their days of con are in the distant past and Rakesh (Saif Ali Khan) is now a pott bellied ticket checker with the Indian railways married to over-the-top, loud Vimmi (Rani Mukerji) who bosses over her husband and indulges her son. They are forced to come back to business- rather help cop Jatayu (Pankaj Tripathi) to nab another pair who are carrying out similar cons years later and claiming to be Bunty and Babli( Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh). &nbsp;While Rakesh and Vimmi still know their job, the younger pair seem to outsmart them at every step. The senior two are close on their heels but still unable to nab the younger two.&nbsp;<br />

When the first film came out in 2005, India was at the cusp of&nbsp;IT-boom. The main protagonists were&nbsp;from small towns - aspiring to become upmarket and rich. Now in 2021, where smart phones and internet has reached the remotest of the villages in India, the scenario is different. The innocence that Shaad Ali's film's characters had is seemingly missing in part 2 of the film. Sharma's Bunty and Babli are do-gooders though but are smart alecs, who know all about Human Rights, Social media activism and tax inavsions. The new pair- Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh- look great together onscreen and represent the new generation- which is woke and conscious of their surrounding.&nbsp;</p>

He also shared crackling chemistry with Rani Mukerji, who in the sequel shows sparks with her loud, brash act as Vimmi but it's her garish costumes- designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee- that overpowers everything else on the screen most of the time.&nbsp;<br />

The sequel keeps referring to the original in various scenes which is the ideal way to approach a sequel of any hit film- for better recall value. But when you have two key actors - Bachchan senior and junior- missing from the film, maybe it's a better idea to keep the references to minimal and help the viewers identify more with the present story.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Veteran Kannada actor Kishori Ballal, who had acted in over 75 movies and left an indelible mark with her role in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Swades', died on Tuesday at the age of 82.<br />
<br />
The actor passed away due to age-related ailments at a private hospital here, family sources said.<br />
<br />
Born in Dakshina Kannada district, Ballal made acting debut with 1960's 'Ivalentha Hendathi'&nbsp;and in her five-decade-long career, she worked in over 75 movies across different languages such as 'Kahi', 'Hani Hani', 'Suryakanthi', 'Carry On Maratha'&nbsp;and 'Quick Gun Murugun'.<br />
<br />
In the Hindi film industry, Ballal is best known for playing Kaveri Amma, a motherly figure to Shah Rukh's Mohan Bhargava in Ashutosh Gowariker's 2004 critically-acclaimed feature 'Swades'.<br />
<br />
She also appeared in Rani Mukerji's 'Aiyyaa' and Deepika Padukone's 'Lafangey Parindey'.<br />
<br />
She was married to Bharatanatyam dancer N Sripathi Ballal.<br />
<br />
Soon after her demise, Gowariker posted a tribute to the veteran actor on Twitter.<br />
<br />
"Heartbroken! Terribly sad about the passing away of #KishoriBallal ji. Kishori ji... You will be remembered for your generously kind, warm and affable persona! And your unforgettable performance as #Kaveriamma in #Swades !! You will surely be missed," the director tweeted.</p>

Veteran Kannada actor Kishori Ballal, who had acted in over 75 movies and left an indelible mark with her role in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Swades', died on Tuesday at the age of 82.

Veteran Kannada actor Kishori Ballal, who had acted in over 75 movies and left an indelible mark with her role in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Swades', died on Tuesday at the age of 82. The actor passed away due to age-related ailments at a private hospital here, family sources said. Born in Dakshina Kannada district, Ballal made acting debut with 1960's 'Ivalentha Hendathi' and in her five-decade-long career, she worked in over 75 movies across different languages such as 'Kahi', 'Hani Hani', 'Suryakanthi', 'Carry On Maratha' and 'Quick Gun Murugun'. In the Hindi film industry, Ballal is best known for playing Kaveri Amma, a motherly figure to Shah Rukh's Mohan Bhargava in Ashutosh Gowariker's 2004 critically-acclaimed feature 'Swades'. She also appeared in Rani Mukerji's 'Aiyyaa' and Deepika Padukone's 'Lafangey Parindey'. She was married to Bharatanatyam dancer N Sripathi Ballal. Soon after her demise, Gowariker posted a tribute to the veteran actor on Twitter. "Heartbroken! Terribly sad about the passing away of #KishoriBallal ji. Kishori ji... You will be remembered for your generously kind, warm and affable persona! And your unforgettable performance as #Kaveriamma in #Swades !! You will surely be missed," the director tweeted. <p>Director Varun Sharma has confirmed to MidDay that they will be in Abu Dhabi for a 10-day climax shoot. He was quoted, “We are shooting a highlight con in Abu Dhabi. The landscape of the Emirate gives a lot of scale to the film, and the team will spend around 10 days shooting the sequence. Since Bunty Aur Babli 2 is set in today's time, we were clear that the cons need to be crafted for today's audience. They will expect something new and slick. The Abu Dhabi con will stand out in that regard.”</p>

<p>‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ will also have <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bunty-aur-babli-2-to-feature-siddhant-chaturvedi-and-debutant-sharvari-268786">Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh.</a></p>
