But Naina is not the sort who gives up that easily and students slowly come around and fall in love with Naina&#39;s unique way of practical teaching. But time is running out and Naina has not only got to cover the syllabus but also convince the naysayers, including fellow Physics teacher Mr Wadia and the Principal of the school, that her students will pass the annual exams with flying colours.&nbsp;<br />

Based on the book, <em>Front of the Class: How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had</em> by Brad Cohen,<em> Hichki </em>solely concentrates on Mukerji&#39;s character and how despite the odds, she made a difference in people&#39;s lives. Writers Sidharth P Malhotra(also the director) and Ankur Chaudhry keep the narrative linear while concentrating on Naina and her life. Which is why Naina is perhaps the only character which is fleshed out and given backstories. Having faced rejections throughout her life, Naina is assured about her drawbacks and even knows how to make it a part of her life.&nbsp;<br />
While the film talks in details about Naina, there are no back stories given of the students. Multiple times it is reminded that how they come from the lower&nbsp;strata of the society and hence behave irrationally because life doesn&#39;t treat them well but the director restrains from delving deeper into their stories. Yet the actors who play the students shine in their limited roles especially Harsh Mayer - who plays the troublemaker, adamant Atish perfectly.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Mayer complements Mukerji&#39;s performance to quite an extent as the actress plays the adamant teacher who despite disapprovals and zero support from people around her, wants to change the lives of her students even though they themselves aren&#39;t convinced about their future prospects. &nbsp;Mukerji doesn&#39;t disappoint at all as she is pitch perfect as Naina Mathur the woman suffering from a disorder.&nbsp;<br />
Such roles are often difficult to portray as one tends to go overboard trying to show the disability, but not Mukerji, who gets into the skin of the character, making Naina a memorable character. The idea is not to make the viewers feel bad or sympathetic about her disorder but to make them aware of it and take them through Naina&#39;s journey as a successful teacher.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The formidable Neeraj Kabi also delivers a fine performance as the stoic, uppity Mr Wadia who doesn&#39;t want to give the students of 9F a chance to outshine. His character is the dampener to Naina&#39;s energy as he openly criticises her unique ways of teaching and challenges her time and again to prove her students&#39;worth.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The film though falls flat in certain aspects. The school seems to only concentrate on one class, and just one teacher and the film revolves around the rivalry between 9A and 9F - making it appear as if the school only has select few students.&nbsp;</p>

<em>Hichki </em>makes you aware of a syndrome that most people do not know of. It gives you Rani Mukerji in top form but it falls short of being outstanding. It doesn&#39;t overwhelm you or make you too emotional either, which is not a bad thing at all but the story of an underdog-triumphing-all-odds may not stay with you after you are out of the theatre.&nbsp;<br />

Watch <em>Hichki</em> solely for Rani Mukerji. The queen is at her usual best.&nbsp;</p>

Bollywood celebrities were seen rushing to Anil Kapoor's residence to pay their last respects to the actress' family.

The news of Sridevi's untimely death shocked the entire film industry. The actress, who died from accidental drowning in a bathtub, was in Dubai for a family wedding. While the body is yet to be brought back to Mumbai, Bollywood stars were seen visiting Anil Kapoor's residence to offer their condolences to the bereaved family members. × On Monday, celebrities started visiting Anil Kapoor's home from the morning itself. She took the hint and focused on domestic bliss, marriage, and motherhood. &nbsp;Her comeback vehicles &ndash; English Vinglish and Mom - were smart choices. &nbsp;Central-character-driven, she played her age and pulled it off with success. &nbsp;Juhi Chawla and Karishma Kapoor attempted to return too but were greeted by the law of diminishing returns. &nbsp;Even the breathtakingly beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan&#39;s Jazbaa and Aye Dil Hai Mushkil evoked the excitement of the wrong kind. Joining the list of comeback casualties are Raveena Tandon [Sandwich and Buddha Hoga Tera Baap], Rekha [Super Nani], Preity Zinta [Ishq in Paris], Manisha Koirala [Bhoot Returns], and Suchitra Krishnamurthy [My Wife&rsquo;s Murder]. &nbsp;Others are bound to follow.</p>

<p>Actually, comebacks are a tough call. &nbsp;Forget the corny and clich&eacute;d line &ldquo;What do you mean the comeback? &nbsp;I never went away. &nbsp;I was just taking a sabbatical and looking for the right role and project&rdquo;.</p>

<p>&nbsp;The truth is, this is not Hollywood where almost every top heroine is married, having two kids and yet continues to rock the charts and popular imagination. &nbsp;Unfortunately in Bollywood, New is Now. &nbsp;You can be the most loved and talented heroine in the country, but once you are married [Strike 1] and have kids [Strike 2], its best you stay at home playing wife and mummy dearest. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Why? &nbsp;Because popular perception has changed dramatically about your persona. &nbsp;From young, hot, single, you are now, well actually forget it! &nbsp;If Kajol has been the glorious exception, it&rsquo;s because she has been very selective about her role, banner, director, content and leading man. Dimple Kapadia too in earlier times. Although she&rsquo;s no more the leading lady, yet with those killer looks she could easily have been Bollywood&rsquo;s very own Mrs. Robinson!&nbsp;</p>

<p>Coming to Rani Mukherjee, after a lukewarm Mardani, will she follow this doomed list or break new ground to scale new heights?</p>

<p>She seems realistic to understand that audiences in 2018 are unlikely to go Kuch Kuch Hota Hai after seeing her. &nbsp;Post marriage and motherhood, she will have to concentrate more on performance than looks to re-make the cut with this new-age audience. &nbsp;So the challenge and opportunity will be on re-invention, re-cast and re-branding herself as an actress, and not be depending on the charm, beauty, sex-appeal exuding romantic charisma. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Will she be able to pull off her portrayal of Naina Mathur, a character handicapped with Tourette syndrome, a condition that forces an individual to make involuntary repetitive movements and sounds? &nbsp;Will the movie viewer accept a once-romantic Rani in such an unusual role? &nbsp;Well, in 2005, she delivered a knockout with Black, so it could be an encore.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Here&rsquo;s hoping that Rani does break the rules and prove that with focus, dedication, realism and talent, comebacks with Hichkis, rock!&nbsp;</p>

Co-starring Jimmy Shergill and Ravi Kishan, the film will have Kashyap&#39;s signature style of drama and violence with a powerful storyline. Set to release on January 12th.</p>

After playing the main protagonist in last year's Chef, Khan will be seen in a dark comedy called Kaalakaandi which has an ensemble cast. Directed by Akshat Verma, the film will release on January 12th. Mukkabaaz: Anurag Kashyap casts the underrated Vineet Singh in the titular role in his new film Mukkabaaz. Set in Uttar Pradesh, the story is of a lower caste boxer who dares to fall in love with an upper caste girl. Co-starring Jimmy Shergill and Ravi Kishan, the film will have Kashyap's signature style of drama and violence with a powerful storyline. Set to release on January 12th. Padman: Akshay Kumar turns a superhero of sorts as he becomes a crusader for women in R Balki's Padman. Based on a real-life incident, Akshay Kumar will be seen playing a do-gooder who propagates the importance of menstrual hygiene and creates low-cost sanitary napkins in the film. The film also features Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor and has been produced by Twinkle Khanna. Padman will be releasing on 26th January. Aiyaary- Neeraj Pandey's film on treason will be clashing with the filmmaker's favourite actor Akshay Kumar's film. Set to release on 26th January, the film will have Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee playing members of the special task force. Padmavat: After protests, bans, cuts in scenes and a name change, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavat will finally see the light of the day. While the release date has not yet been fixed, but sources state that the film will release in mid-February. Featuring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh- it is 'fictional'account on Chittor's Rani Padmini. Since its a Bhansali film, expect the scale to be grand. Pari: Anushka Sharma's first film post her wedding to Virat Kohli will have her playing a woman who has faced abuse in the past. A thriller of sorts, the film also features Bengali actor Parambrata Chatterjee and has been directed by Prosit Roy. Produced by Anushka, Pari is scheduled to release in the theatre on 9th February.
